Chasing Perfection - WIUX

The final episode of season 4 of Chasing Perfection is dedicated to jam bands and live shows in the context of the perfect song. Patrick Milescujoins me in the studio to talk phish and music. Patrick is the entertainment manager at the Bluebird and the manager of up and coming jam band Dizgo. Stay tuned at the end of the episode for when the definition of the perfect song is released!

Episode 3 begins by explaining that the perfect song at its base is “purely enjoyed”. The listener can feel that the song is perfect. The feeling may not last and the song may not be perfect forever, but the moment where the listener can feel that the song is perfect is what this podcast is trying to define. The episode then moves to the interview segment. This week’s interview is with Dr. Ursula Kuhar, who teaches my Community Engagement in the Arts class here at Indiana University. Dr. Kuhar has a background in opera, musical theatre, and arts administration and brings some amazing views on the perfect song.

Episode 2 kicks off with a brief discussion of the song “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys and continues into a quick look back at what Sam said in last week’s interview. This week’s interview is with Rob Greene. You may know Rob from his work with Secret Mezzanine or his podcast TowningBloom. It was an awesome conversation with Rob and he definitely helped further the conversation towards the characteristics and definition of the perfect song. Hello and welcome to the first episode of Chasing Perfection! This episode kicks off our journey towards finding the characteristics and definitions of a perfect song. The episode begins with the idea of seperating perfect song and favorite song and segway’s to what my “perfect song” is. After that, we jump to the interview segment with Sam Boland. Sam is the bass player in the Striped Socks and brought his music intellect and passion for music into the studio. We talk about his perfect songs, why they’re perfect, and much. Take a listen!
