Have you heard of the word Hygge? Hygge is loosely translated as the feeling of coziness. Hygge is a popular term used by the Danish who make Hygge a part of their everyday life. Hygge is about creating an atmosphere, an atmosphere that brings feelings of peace, calmness, and togetherness. A common Hygge experience would look like wearing your cozy chunky sweater, enjoying a warm beverage by a fireplace with a couple of friends, and getting whiffs of the homemade stew cooking on the stove. What makes Hygge so very interesting is that it comes from the Danish culture who is also known as the happiest people on earth. They cultivate this Hygge in their everyday lives which can be broken down to enjoying the simple pleasures. What stands out even more to me is yes, they are the happiest people on earth and they are the people that get together with others the most. So, community, simple joy, slow living… Does that play a big part in one’s well being? I think so. Hygge is mostly related to cold weather but it is meant to be enjoyed every day which includes the sunny, warm days of summer. In this episode, I give you a few ideas to incorporate some hygge in your life during summertime. As the phrase goes, we are not made to do life alone and this could not be truer. You were created to live in community, to go through life walking hand and hand with your people. What does this look like? Having dinner together on a plain old Wednesday nightAsking your community for help when moving day comesBeing surrounded by people that are going to challenge you and support youThere are many benefits you get by being in community and that includes growth, selflessness, and encouragement which I touch on each of these in this episode. I also talk to those who are excited about the idea of community and want that so bad in their life but don’t know how to get it. I provide you a “recipe” on how you can build your community. In this episode, you will hear my heart and how passionate I am about community and I hope this helps you cultivate that community in your life.
