Police and Firefighters, Trauma and Recovery. From Demons to Angels: A Georgia First Responder's Journey Through Trauma, PTSD, and Recovery. Dennis Pishock served his community in Georgia with dedication and courage, first as a firefighter, then as a police officer. His career placed him on the front lines of some of the most traumatic moments imaginable, from heartbreaking drownings to violent crime scenes. He is the guest on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast, available for free on their website, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and most podcast platforms. Through it all, he carried the weight of the experiences, often silently, until he realized that recovery was possible and necessary. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast promoted across their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and other social media platforms. “After thousands of traumatic calls and seeing friends and families fall apart, I knew I had to start telling my story,” Pishock shared. “I want others to know that recovery is possible, even when you're still serving on the front lines.” Look for supporting stories about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin . The Traumas Behind the Badge One of the defining moments of Pishock's career came while serving as a firefighter in the Atlanta suburbs. His swift water rescue team was called to a river where an 8-year-old girl had gone missing while tubing. The girl's body was eventually discovered trapped beneath a submerged tree. “Even though she was right there, just below the surface, we couldn't get to her because of the current,” Pishock recalled. “That moment stayed with me for years.” Police and Firefighters, Trauma and Recovery. Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms. The trauma intensified when he learned that one of his teammates, who had a young daughter also tubing that day, initially feared the girl was his own child. Thankfully, it wasn't, but the tragedy was no less devastating. These experiences compounded with countless other traumatic calls. Pishock thought he had processed them, but the emotional toll followed him when he transitioned from firefighting to policing. Police and Firefighters: Different Uniforms, Same Demons The shift from fire service to law enforcement is unusual, but for Pishock, it was a continuation of his call to serve. However, as a police officer in Georgia, he faced even more trauma, shootings, violent incidents, and deaths that left invisible scars. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on their website , Apple Podcasts , Spotify and most major podcast platforms. “My family life began to fall apart,” he admitted. “I didn't recognize how much the job had changed me until I went to Peer Support Training. That's when I finally realized, I needed help.” The wake-up call came after learning about the suicides of several close friends, all fellow first responders. It was a turning point that pushed him toward recovery. Police and Firefighters, Trauma and Recovery. Facing Demons, Finding Angels In his book Demons & Angels, Pishock documents his most personal battles and the lessons he has learned along the way. The book, available across social platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and discussed on podcasts across Apple and Spotify, is not just about his own survival, it's a guide for others. “This book isn't just for me,” Pishock explained. “It's for every police officer, firefighter, and military member who has spent sleepless nights wrestling with trauma. It's for anyone who has chosen to serve America and knows the cost that comes with it.” The full podcast episode is streaming now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. He describes the brotherhood shared among those who wear the badge or the uniform, comparing it to the camaraderie found in military service. “Servitude is where it's at,” he said. “To those who serve, I love you. To those who don't understand, you'll never truly get what you've missed.” Understanding PTSD in First Responders Pishock's story highlights the reality that many first responders in America face, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Research shows that between 10% and 35% of police and firefighters develop PTSD, a rate far higher than the general population. Police and Firefighters, Trauma and Recovery. PTSD alters the brain's function: Hippocampus: shrinks, impairing memory and learning. Amygdala: becomes hyperactive, intensifying fear and emotional responses. Prefrontal cortex: weakens, reducing the ability to regulate those emotions. The symptoms are wide-ranging, intrusive memories, nightmares, flashbacks, detachment from loved ones, emotional numbness, hypervigilance, and sometimes destructive behaviors. His story resonates across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and beyond. “Most people don't realize that PTSD isn't just about war,” Pishock noted. “It's about the accumulation of traumas, what we see, what we experience, and even what we can't change.” The Road to Recovery Recovery, Pishock stresses, is not an overnight transformation but a journey. It sometimes requires professional help, and strong social support networks. Pishock also emphasizes peer support as a lifeline: “Talking to someone who has been there, who truly understands, can make the difference between holding on and giving up.” The stages of recovery often move from acute struggles to gradual stability, and eventually to a place where individuals can regain control over their lives. His message for first responders in Georgia, across America, and beyond is clear: “Don't wait until it's too late. PTSD is real, but recovery is possible. You are not alone.” Police and Firefighters, Trauma and Recovery. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast promoted across their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and other social media platforms. A Journey Shared Through Book and Social With Demons & Angels, Pishock is offering more than a book. He's opening the door for conversations on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, while expanding the discussion to podcasts on Apple and Spotify. His journey reflects the resilience of police officers, firefighters, and military personnel who continue to battle trauma while striving for recovery. Through his story, Pishock hopes to shine a light in the darkest places, reminding others that even when demons are loud, angels can still be found. What is the fundamental principle of effective SEO for beginners? The best SEO strategy for beginners starts with understanding and targeting your audience by asking questions. SEO is fundamentally about providing answers to the questions people are asking. This approach not only helps you create relevant content but also aligns your efforts with how search engines (like Google, ChatGPT, Pinterest, YouTube, and Amazon) operate. By consistently answering these questions, you build authority and credibility, which are crucial for visibility and growth. Tools like Answerthepublic.com, Answerocrates.com, SparkToro.com, and Ubersuggest.com can help you identify these questions and understand audience intent.2. Why is audience understanding crucial for SEO and content creation?Understanding your audience is paramount because it allows you to create content that directly addresses their needs and queries. When you create content with the user's questions in mind, you're not just optimizing for algorithms; you're building a connection with your potential audience. This "three-way connection" between you, your audience, and the algorithm ensures that your content resonates with those actively searching for solutions. It helps bypass the algorithm by matching user intent with your offerings, leading to higher engagement and a stronger brand.3. What are the essential technical SEO elements for a beginner's website? For a beginner, ensuring strong technical SEO involves several fundamental steps:HTTPS Security Connection (SSL): Always secure your website with an HTTPS connection. This creates a privacy area for users, builds trust (indicated by a padlock in the browser), and is a crucial ranking factor for search engines. Websites without this are often flagged as "not secure," leading to immediate user abandonment.Sitemap (XML File): A sitemap is like a brain or a map for your website, allowing algorithms to read and understand its structure and content. While humans read HTML (hypertext markup language), algorithms read XML (expandable markup language). Platforms like WordPress (with plugins like Yoast, RankMath), Squarespace, Shopify, and Wix automatically generate sitemaps, but they must be connected to tools like Google Search Console and Google Analytics to be fully activated and effective. No Broken or Duplicated Links: Regularly check for and fix broken links and avoid duplicating content, as these issues can confuse search engines and negatively impact your ranking.4. How important are blogs and consistent content creation for SEO?Blogs (or articles, sources) are essential because they tell the world you have something valuable to say. Websites like Wikipedia, Reddit, Shopify, and Canva all leverage blogs to provide information. A consistent blogging strategy feeds your website with good, indexable information that can be submitted to various search engines (Google, Yahoo, Microsoft) and AI platforms (ChatGPT). This consistency helps you earn credibility, which in turn leads to broader distribution across different platforms, strengthening your online presence. For new businesses, publishing content 1-2 times a week can show significant results within 3-6 months.Glossary of Episode Key Terms: SEO for BeginnersAAlgorithm: A set of rules or instructions that a search engine uses to rank websites and determine the relevance of content to a user's query.AnswerThePublic.com / Answerocrates.com/ SparkToro.com / Ubersuggest.com: Website tools used for keyword research and understanding audience questions and interests.Article: A piece of written content on a website, essential for SEO and establishing expertise.Audience Targeting/Marketing: Focusing marketing efforts on a specific group of consumers who are most likely to be interested in a product or service.Access Links: See Backlinks.BBacklinks/Referral Links/Access Links/Image Links: Different types of links pointing back to a website, which are crucial for SEO authority.Binary Code: A computer language that uses only two symbols, typically 0 and 1, to represent information.Blog: A section of a website featuring regularly updated written content.Bootstrapping: Starting a business with little or no outside capital, relying on personal finances or operating revenues.Bottom of Funnel: The stage in the customer journey where users are ready to convert; content here targets these users.Broken Links: Hyperlinks that point to non-existent or moved pages, negatively affecting user experience and SEO.CChatGPT/Perplexity/Pinterest/YouTube/Amazon: Examples of platforms where users search for information, and SEO strategies can be applied to increase visibility.Clubhouse Plus: A paid feature on the Clubhouse app, offering tools to enhance user experience and business growth.Content Distribution: The process of publishing and promoting content across various platforms and channels.Content Reproduction/Publish/Distribute: The process of creating, making available, and spreading content across various channels.Conversion Opportunities/Lifts/Engagement: Metrics indicating how often users take a desired action (e.g., signing up, purchasing), how much those actions increase, and how users interact with content.Credibility: The quality of being trusted and believed in, built through consistent and valuable content.DData Intelligence/Market Intelligence: Gathering and analyzing information to understand market trends, customer behavior, and competitive landscapes.Duplicated Links: Multiple links pointing to the same content, which can confuse search engines and dilute link equity.FFAQs (Frequently Asked Questions): A section of a website that provides answers to common customer questions, useful for both users and algorithms.GGoogle Analytics: A free web analytics service that tracks and reports website traffic, providing insights into user behavior.Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business): A free tool from Google that helps businesses manage their online presence across Google, including Search and Maps.Google Developers: A platform for developers to learn about and use Google technologies.Google Search Central (formerly Google Webmasters): A resource provided by Google for website owners to improve their site's visibility in Google Search.Google Search Console: A free web service by Google that helps website owners monitor their site's performance in Google Search results and troubleshoot issues.HHigh Volume Searches: Refers to keywords that are searched for a large number of times by users.HTML (HyperText Markup Language): The standard markup language for documents designed to be displayed in a web browser, forming the readable text and links on a webpage.HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure): A secure version of HTTP, the protocol over which data is sent between your browser and the website. If you've ever felt like you're the one who keeps the peace, says yes to everything, earns the gold stars, and never wants to disappoint anyone—even when it means abandoning yourself—this episode is for you. There's a name for that pattern, and it's not “being nice” or “just how you are.” It's called fawning. Fawning is a trauma response—right alongside fight, flight, or freeze—where you people-please, appease, or perform to keep yourself safe in relationships. It's the “please and appease” reflex: managing the emotions and needs of everyone around you to avoid conflict, rejection, or harm. And for so many high-achieving women, it can look like success… while quietly draining your mental health, your self-trust, and your sense of who you really are. I asked Dr. Ingrid Clayton, psychologist and author of the new book Fawning: Why the Need to Please Makes Us Lose Ourselves and How to Find Our Way Back, to share how to recognize the fawning trauma response, why high-achieving women are especially vulnerable to it, and practical tools to help you set boundaries, manage anxiety, and reconnect with yourself—without numbing out with alcohol. We have flipped the script and he's going to be interviewing me today. Welcome, Chad.Chad 00:00:12 Hey, Josh, thanks. It's great to be here. today, I would love to talk about your approach to, enhancing the performance of a business in your years as a business leader. What kind of framework have you developed where you can just step in and kind of implement ways to enhance the performance of a business pretty quickly.Josh 00:00:28 Over the last few years, I think, as our own business has continued to grow in scale, and I needed to build out a leadership team, I needed to myself write down what I felt were the biggest drivers, needle movers, biggest levers that I can pull inside the business. And so it forced me to kind of like narrow it down to like, there's a million different things that I could be working on with inside the business, right? I could be working on just HR in and of itself.Josh 00:00:59 I could be working on marketing, social media. I could be working on, you know, accounting, finance. There's the list goes on and on and on. Right. So what I decided to do is just create like four areas where if we focus on these four areas within our business and we make strategic decisions, this should be able to make an impact if we pull this particular lever. So that's how I kind of identified these. And I have specific examples here that I'll share with you that that walk through kind of why I decided like this is a core area of the business rather than, you know, maybe accounting for example, and finance, although important, you know, these are the four core things that I can move into a business, make changes, and then be able to see growth happen real quick. Does that make sense?Chad 00:01:50 Yeah, absolutely. So the first one that you listed, of the four was product innovation. Tell me a little bit more about you know obviously it's very important, but tell me a little bit more about your thoughts on it.Josh 00:02:00 Yeah. In one of our earlier podcast episodes, I shared this as one of my biggest mistakes that I've made in a business, and that is kind of creating me two products or looking at the market and saying, well, they're doing well with this type of product. So obviously I should just introduce something similar and I'm going to have similar results. What I have learned from launching over 1300 different products at this point is that you need to bring something unique to the table. creating meta products is never going to serve you in the long run. If if you do stumble upon something and it works. It's going to be a short term win in my opinion. So one of the examples that I would give you is, you know, one of the products that we launched during Covid, was educational posters. Okay. So obviously with homeschool, becoming more of a thing during Covid. Back in 2020, we our business had to pivot. We looked at, you know, different home school supplies and different things that we could launch to cater to that market because it was such a it was an expanding market at the time.Josh 00:03:11 We looked at one of the most competitive niches on Amazon itself, and we saw educational posters as one of those. What we decided to do is we decided to throw our hat in the ring, but what we noticed is that nearly all of the competitors and most of these competitors were overseas competitors, right? So what we noticed, though, is they all look very, very similar. You know, Chad, I would argue that it those posters that you saw on Amazon were probably the exact same posters that we grew up with in the classroom, you know, just kind of your standard, you know, vanilla educational poster, so to speak. And we're talking about like, ABC to, you know, all the letters of the alphabet. Counting from 1 to 100. Things like that. So what my wife decided to do, though, is she. You know, she's just so good at design. But she looked at what was trending on Etsy, what was trending on Pinterest, what was trending on Google, and what did she see on social media that teachers, how teachers were decorating their room, or how parents were decorating their homeschool rooms, so to speak.Josh 00:04:21 And after kind of gathering all of that information, she decided to design something that I don't think anybody else has ever seen before. So number one, she has a very creative mind. But we went into an overlay like, again, if most people would look at that niche, they'd say, that's a saturated market, don't go into it. There's no way you're going to make any money. And instead what we did is we launched the product in August of 2020. We became the number t...

What is the fundamental concept behind the ROI of blogging? The Return on Investment (ROI) of blogging is viewed through three core ingredients: time, money, and energy. While many associate ROI primarily with monetary gain, the discussion emphasizes the long-term benefits and efficiency blogging can bring to a business. The idea is that a focused investment of these three resources into blogging can lead to significant and sustained positive outcomes, even if the initial outlay seems small. The goal is to maximize the impact of content creation by strategically using these ingredients, ultimately leading to increased visibility, authority, and potential for passive income.2. How can I determine if blogging is a worthwhile strategy for my business or industry?A practical method to assess the relevance of blogging for your business is to use Google search operators. By typing "blog / [your topic]" (e.g., "blog / social media tips" or "blog / how to cook chicken") into Google, you can see existing blogs that cover your intended subject matter. This directly shows you what Google recognizes as relevant content in your niche, and whether your competitors are present. If you don't see your own website or content in these results, it indicates a missed opportunity and suggests that blogging could be a beneficial strategy to gain visibility and authority in your industry. Additionally, using "site:yourdomain.com [keyword]" can reveal if your existing content is being indexed for specific keywords.3. How does updating old blog content contribute to its ROI, especially in the context of AI?Updating older blog content is crucial for maintaining and enhancing its ROI. Search engines, particularly with the rise of AI, prioritize "last mod" (last modified) dates. This means that content that has been recently updated and republished is more likely to appear in search results. By updating existing blogs, you signal to search engines that your information is fresh and relevant, increasing its visibility and authority. This practice can double the efficiency of your initial time investment, as you're leveraging existing content to continue attracting traffic and engagement, rather than starting entirely from scratch with new articles.4. Can AI tools like ChatGPT be used to effectively create blog content, and what is the recommended best practice?Yes, AI tools like ChatGPT can be effectively used for blog content creation, but the best practice is to use them as a first draft or a starting point, rather than as the sole author. While AI can generate content, it's crucial for the blogger to "humanize" it, injecting their unique voice, insights, and brand personality. One participant even mentioned using AI to write content specifically for their local business and achieving top search rankings after humanizing it. The recommendation is to use AI to get content ideas, summaries, or even initial drafts, and then to personally refine and optimize it. This ensures that the content is not only informative but also authentic and engaging for the target audience.5. How can I leverage various online platforms (search engines, social media, AI answer engines) to maximize the reach of my blog content? To maximize the reach of your blog content across various platforms, a balanced strategy is recommended:Search Engines (Traditional): Use Google and Bing for traditional search visibility.Answer Engines (Voice Search): Consider how your content would be found via voice assistants like Siri, Alexa, or Google Assistant, which provide direct answers.AI Search Engines: Utilize platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Grok for AI-driven responses.By observing which brands consistently appear across all these platforms for a given topic, you can identify top authorities. Your goal is to become one such authority by consistently providing fresh, recent, and quick information. This involves writing extensive blog posts on your website (80% of your effort) and then leveraging social media (20% of your effort) to promote and build community around that content. People often discover information through search and then seek out the brand on social media, so a cohesive presence across all platforms is vital.6. What is the significance of an "author profile" in blogging for increasing online visibility and authority? An author profile attached to your blog posts significantly boosts your online visibility and authority. Most website platforms (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, etc.) allow you to create an author profile for your published content. This profile typically includes links to your social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, X, etc.), creating a comprehensive digital footprint. Search engines and AI servers actively look for authors, profiles, and associated links, which helps them understand the context and credibility of your content. By presenting your blogs under a clear author profile (either your personal name or company name), you establish yourself or your brand as a recognized expert, increasing your chances of showing up for topical searches and building trust with your audience.7. How can I transform existing content, like podcast episodes or Clubhouse replays, into effective blog posts to drive traffic?Existing audio content, such as podcast episodes or Clubhouse replays, can be efficiently repurposed into blog posts to drive traffic. The process involves:Transcribing the audio: Use tools like Notebook LM (Google) or Descript to transcribe the audio into text.Extracting key information: From the transcription, identify frequently asked questions (FAQs) and summarize the main points.Humanizing and optimizing: Take the summary and use AI tools (like ChatGPT) to refine it into a comprehensive blog post. Crucially, humanize the AI-generated text to match your brand's voice.SEO Optimization: Incorporate relevant keywords into the blog post's title, body, and URL to improve searchability.Linking: Embed the audio (podcast or replay) within the blog post and link the blog post back to your website, social media, and any other relevant platforms. This strategy maximizes content that you've already invested time and energy into, effectively "killing two birds with one stone" by reaching both audio listeners and text readers, and creating a loop of traffic between different content formats.8. What is the "crawl budget" in relation to publishing multiple blog posts per day, and how does it affect content indexing? The "crawl budget" refers to the limit on how many new or updated links Google Search Console will process from your website each day. While you can publish an unlimited number of blogs on your own website (your "house"), Google has a quota, typically allowing you to submit around 10 links per day for indexing. This means that even if you publish 20 blogs in a day, only the first 10 submitted will likely be immediately logged and processed by Google's system within a 24-hour period. Each published post is logged with a precise date and time stamp (hours, minutes, seconds, milliseconds). Understanding the crawl budget is important for managing expectations regarding how quickly your new content will appear in search results and for strategically planning your publishing schedule if you aim for rapid indexing.Digital Marketing SEO Resources:>> Join our exclusive SEO Marketing community>> Read SEO Articles>> Need SEO Services? Send us a textHave you ever stood in front of your closet, staring at a sea of clothes, and thought, "I have nothing to wear"? (Even though your hangers are practically begging for mercy?) We've all been there — but what if that moment wasn't about the clothes at all, but about who you're becoming? This week, we're diving into a topic that's more than fabrics or what's “on trend.” It's about style as a mirror for your soul. We're joined by Amanda Weil, the Soul Stylist, who takes us beyond shopping bags and Pinterest boards to show how what we wear can align with who we truly are — and who we're becoming.Amanda shares her story of leaving corporate America, shedding layers of “fitting in,” and creating her Style Awakenings process. Along the way, she reveals why clothes can carry old identities, how detoxing your closet can be as freeing as a coaching session, and why style isn't about rules — it's about resonance.Inside this episode, you'll discover:Why your wardrobe may be holding onto your “shadow self” (and how to release it).How mirror work, mantras, and intentional dressing can build new neural pathways of confidence. How shopping becomes transformational when rooted in vision, not comparison.Surprising ways a closet clear-out can spark abundance in business, relationships, and wellbeing. We also explore how style and neuroscience intersect, unpacking why external validation (compliments, head turns, Instagram likes) gives us a dopamine hit — and how to flip the script to generate confidence from the inside out.If you're a high-achieving woman leader who's felt the pressure of perfection, feared being “not enough,” or longed to feel fully aligned — inside and out — this conversation is your invitation to reclaim your essence. You'll leave inspired to stop hiding behind old outfits, outdated identities, or someone else's version of “success,” and instead show up as the bold, radiant, unstoppable version of you.So, what story is your style telling about you today? Does it match the leader you're becoming? Tune in, reflect, and maybe grab a bag (for donations, not shopping!) as you step into your own soul style transformation.Follow: @mandaweilstyle on Instagram & DM her for your free Soul Style Guide.

In this episode of Healthy Waves, host Avik Chakraborty sits down with Patty Durell, founder of Rock Solid Fitness, and Daniel Hartshorn, co-founder of Flowgreens and ScentXpresso, to explore how technology, aromatherapy, and strength training are reshaping wellness in a high-stress, tech-driven world. From smart showers that transform daily routines into mindful rituals, to efficient resistance training that rebuilds energy and confidence for women in midlife, this conversation challenges outdated health myths and reframes what vitality truly looks like. Whether you're feeling stuck in burnout, curious about tech-powered healing, or seeking strength without overtraining, this episode offers practical, science-backed insights you can apply today. About the Guests Patty Durell is a strength training expert and the creator of High Intensity SAFE™ Strength Training, a proven method that helps high-performing women regain strength, energy, and confidence with just two 25-minute sessions a week. She is also the founder of Rock Solid Fitness. Daniel Hartshorn is an entrepreneur and co-founder of ScentXpresso, a wellness technology company creating spa-like aromatherapy shower experiences to combat stress and burnout. With a background in scaling tech startups, Daniel now focuses on human-centered innovation for health and well-being. Key Takeaways Strength training is not about doing more but about doing enough—properly applied resistance builds both physical and mental resilience. Many midlife women avoid lifting weights due to myths about injury or “bulking up,” but real results come from heavy resistance done safely. Smart aromatherapy rituals, such as Daniel's ScentXpresso, turn overlooked moments like a shower into powerful anchors for relaxation and mental reset. Scent is a primal sensory trigger tied to memory and emotion—using it intentionally can reduce stress and promote emotional stability. Rituals and boundaries—like nature walks, hugs, family breakfasts, or mindful exercise—help root us in balance amidst digital overload. Resistance training improves sleep, mood, hormonal balance, and self-worth, especially for women navigating menopause and midlife challenges. Both guests stress the importance of cultural reset: midlife is not “old age,” but an opportunity to strengthen body, mind, and daily habits. Wellness technology's future lies in combining hard data (like heart rate and blood pressure) with personal experiences of well-being for truly personalized care. Police Shooting Myths Shattered: From His Own Story. Special Episode. When it comes to policing in America, myths often dominate the public conversation. Many believe law enforcement officers are “trigger happy,” quick to fire their weapons at the first sign of danger. Others assume that trauma only takes its toll after decades in uniform. But as former Roswell, Georgia police officer John Saporsky explains, both assumptions couldn't be further from the truth. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast promoted across their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and other social media platforms. In a candid conversation shared on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and streaming on Apple and Spotify, Saporsky speaks openly about the Police Shooting Myths Shattered, From His Own Story. His journey highlights the danger, recovery, career, and experience that shaped his life both in and beyond law enforcement. He is the guest on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast, available for free on their website, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and most podcast platforms. Early Career and Trauma in Georgia “People think trauma comes late in a career, but mine started early,” Saporsky says. As a young officer with the Roswell Police Department in Georgia, he faced situations that most officers never experience in their entire careers. From a near-death experience in a traffic accident involving a stolen police car to brake failure in a high-speed pursuit, Saporsky's early days in uniform were filled with life-threatening moments. Look for supporting stories about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin . He recalls a terrifying incident with brake fade, a dangerous reduction in braking ability caused by overheating. “When the brakes failed, it could have been fatal. Those are the moments the public never sees,” he explains. Police Shooting Myths Shattered: From His Own Story. Special Episode. And then there were the shootings. Saporsky was directly involved in critical incidents that tested his judgment and courage. Research from the National Police Foundation underscores just how rare such experiences are. In a study of 1,006 police shootings across 47 departments, four out of five officers had never fired their weapons in the line of duty before. Saporsky's encounters placed him in the small percentage who had. Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms. Shattering Police Shooting Myths Saporsky emphasizes that officers are not eager to use deadly force. “Most of us hope we'll never have to fire our weapon,” he says. “When it does happen, it changes you forever.” By sharing his story, he aims to dismantle the stereotype that police officers are reckless or insensitive in dangerous situations. Instead, he highlights the human side of danger and recovery—the side the public rarely hears about in the evening news or viral social media debates. Life After Policing After years of service, Saporsky decided to transition out of law enforcement. But stepping away from the badge wasn't simple. “Leaving the profession can feel like losing your identity,” he reflects. Police Shooting Myths Shattered: From His Own Story. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on their website , Apple Podcasts , Spotify and most major podcast platforms. That personal struggle led him to create Law Enforcement Connect LLC in 2021, a platform designed to help officers transition into civilian life and new careers. “Like military veterans, law enforcement professionals face unique challenges. They need guidance, resources, and a community that understands,” Saporsky says. Through interviews with veterans, business leaders, psychologists, and researchers, Saporsky developed a framework for career transition that goes beyond simple job searches. I recently spent a week in Austria, bouncing between my grandparents' farmhouse and the alpine trails I grew up on. And it hit me how stark the contrast is between the foundation they built and the environment kids are growing up in today. My grandparents are 92 and 93, still living on their own. They had decades of clean food, pure alpine water, long days outside and zero WiFi. And then, over the last 10-20 years, an Americanized creep of seed oils, ultra-processed snacks and glyphosate started showing up in force. Fortunately, for my grandparents, their health trajectory was already set. But the sad reality is that today's Austria looks a lot more like the U.S. than the one I left in 2007. You see it in the soda cases and packaged snacks; in childhood obesity, which simply wasn't common when I was a kid; and in the push for convenience over quality. On paper, the cardiovascular stats are surprising, with heart issues accounting for about a third of Austrian deaths vs roughly a fifth in the U.S. But context matters. Life expectancy is higher in Austria, smoking remains far more prevalent, alcohol is a daily staple for many, and coding practices differ. And while European rules do more to keep out junk — i.e., no drug ads to consumers, tighter oversight of additives, a precautionary approach — you still find head-scratchers like the EU's renewed glyphosate approval, and the official dietary guidance in Austria is every bit as misguided as America's: more grains, less meat, avoid saturated fat. Meanwhile, the water story flips the other way; Austria's alpine spring water really is great, while here I won't drink unfiltered tap water. The throughline I keep coming back to is the environment. Austrians still walk and bike more, take real vacations and spend time outside. But the trend is heading in the wrong direction. My takeaway for both sides of the Atlantic is the same: don't wait for guidelines or brands to save you. Vote with your fork and your feet. Buy directly from farmers when you can. Filter your water. Create a home rhythm that makes movement and sunlight normal. Ignore food-industry talking points. And recreate the conditions humans have traditionally thrived in, focusing on better food, cleaner water and more time outside. If that resonates, start small this week. Audit what's in your pantry, pick one item you can swap for a simpler version, take your next meeting while on a walk, and move dinner earlier so your sleep isn't collateral damage. Then share this episode with a friend who still thinks “Europe is automatically healthier” or that “America is too far gone.” The future isn't predetermined; it's built choice by choice.
