No es un libro enteramente nuevo, se trata de una adaptación de textos anteriores como “Filosofía y metodología de las ciencias sociales” publicado hace más de cuarenta años y “Génesis y evolución del análisis científico”, que vio la luz a principios de siglo. En ambos casos se encuentran descatalogados, luego tenemos la oportunidad de acceder a un material de primera calidad que nació en las clases que Escohotado impartía en la UNED. “Filosofía para no filósofos” hace honor al título. Es un texto accesible para un público amplio y cumple con creces la promesa de ofrecer un recorrido por la historia del pensamiento occidental desde los orígenes míticos hasta el siglo XX. En tanto que no deja de ser un manual de filosofía se puede abordar en cualquiera de los 24 capítulos que tiene. El Telón de acero fue la barrera ideológica, política y física que dividió Europa durante desde el final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial hasta 1990. Era mucho más que una metáfora: se materializaba en kilómetros y kilómetros de fronteras fortificadas con alambradas, torres de vigilancia, campos minados y guardias armados. Se extendía desde el océano Ártico hasta el mar Mediterráneo, separando el bloque soviético del occidental. El término fue popularizado por Winston Churchill en un discurso que dio en 1946 en una universidad de Missouri, donde advirtió que un “telón de hierro" había descendido desde Stettin en el Báltico hasta Trieste en el Adriático, sometiendo al control soviético a capitales europeas como Varsovia, Praga y Budapest. Aunque el término ya se usaba antes para describir la frontera rusa tras la revolución de 1917, Churchill lo elevó a símbolo de la guerra fría. Churchill sabía bien de lo que hablaba porque había negociado con Stalin en Yalta y Potsdam, y era consciente de que quería dotarse de un colchón de repúblicas satélite en el este de Europa que sirviesen de primera línea de defensa y de proyección del poder soviético. Con los años el telón propiamente dicho no hizo más que perfeccionarse para evitar las huidas al oeste, que en Alemania llegó a convertirse en un problema de primera magnitud. Entre 1949 y 1961, tres millones de alemanes huyeron de la República Democrática a la República Federal. La frontera intra alemana tenía casi 1.400 kilómetros y a ella se sumaban los 155 kilómetros del muro de Berlín. El muro, levantado en 1961, era un telón de acero en miniatura que atravesaba el centro de la ciudad. Para que la capital se comunicase con el resto de Alemania se crearon corredores aéreos, ferroviarios y de carretera que conectaban Berlín Oeste con la RFA. Los tres estaban bajo estricta vigilancia para prevenir las fugas. Política, económica y socialmente el telón separaba dos mundos. Mientras el oeste prosperaba con democracias liberales y libre mercado, el este se sumía en la pobreza y la opresión. La cultura occidental era también más atractiva y eso erosionaba el control de las autoridades. La televisión y radio del oeste ofrecían información, entretenimiento y abrían una ventana a un mundo diferente que percibían como mucho mejor y más cómodo. Las televisiones alemanas se podían ver en los países fronterizos y EEUU financió una emisora de radio, Radio Europa Libre, que podía sintonizarse en todo el bloque del este. Estas emisiones sorteaban las alambradas, pero no los controles. Los gobiernos del este trataron de impedir que la población viese la televisión occidental, pero terminaron dejándolo por imposible. Cualquier infiltración de otra índole estaba muy vigilada por las agencias de seguridad, algunas muy temidas como la Stasi alemana, la Securitate rumana o el KGB soviético. Todo aquel sistema de control que simbolizaba el telón de acero se vino abajo a partir de 1985 cuando Mijail Gorbachov se hizo con el poder en la URSS. El telón en sí mismo empezó a desmantelarse cuatro años más tarde coincidiendo con la caída del muro de Berlín. En 1991 la Unión Soviética pasó a mejor vida y con ella cualquier rastro que pudiese quedar de esa frontera impenetrable que dividió Europa durante más de cuatro décadas. Mystical Garlic Planting I told a story about using magic when I planted my garlic this fall. Right from the start, When I planted the garlic, I didn't just push cloves into the soil, fertilize, water, and walk away. I planted at twilight — that quiet, liminal space between day and night, when the veil feels thinner. Then, I connected with the land and greeted the spirits and elemental forces. Next, I offered gratitude and asked to collaborate with them as the garden begins it's cycle of growth again. The reason is not because someone told me that's how it's done or good to do. This is how I live when I'm tuned into nature. As I listen to spirit and connect with my own inner knowing, everything comes alive. And that's the heart of liberation magic – where magic and manifestation meet. It’s not dones as a technique, but as a connection to spirit and life itself. Magic as a Way of Life Magic isn't only something you use when you want something to change. It can be how you move through the world. Maritza encourages her students to deepen their awareness of the moment they're in — the energy, the land, the subtle signals that are always communicating with us. That might look like ritual or meditation. You might simply notice your breath while you're standing at the sink or looking out a window. When spirituality becomes woven into daily life, you begin to move with the rhythms of the earth instead of against them. Challenges don't disappear, but your relationship to them changes. One of the greatest gifts of a spiritual path is realizing that the power you've been seeking has been with you all along. Each step taken with awareness makes the next one clearer, lighter, and more enchanted. Energy Awareness as a Path to Freedom At the heart of liberation magic is energetic awareness. When you learn to notice energy, both yours and the space around you, you gain the power to choose. Simple practices like pausing, breathing, and checking in with yourself can shift everything. Imagine a stressful moment. Now, instead of reacting, you can simply stop, breathe, and notice what's present. That awareness alone can move you from chaos into calm, from contraction into clarity. 2025 ha sido un año importante en la política internacional. Ha estado marcado por el regreso de Donald Trump a la Casa Blanca. Su hiperactividad y una presencia constante en los medios, han dominado el año. Varios países han ganado y otros han perdido. Entre los primeros está China que, contra todo pronóstico, ha sido uno de los mayores beneficiados. Trump, consciente de los altos costes de una guerra comercial, firmó en noviembre una tregua que suavizó las restricciones chinas a las tierras raras. Esta distensión ha permitido a Xi Jinping centrarse en los problemas internos y consolidar a China como una superpotencia económica equivalente a EEUU. En Oriente Medio Arabia Saudita se ha convertido en el socio indispensable de Trump en Oriente Medio. Esto posiciona al país como el principal contrapeso a Irán y cabeza del mundo árabe. No muy lejos Israel se ha subido también al carro de los vencedores gracias a victorias como la destrucción del programa nuclear iraní y el final de la guerra de Gaza que ha dejado a Hezbolá y a Hamás muy debilitadas. Netanyahu termina el año con Israel en su posición más fuerte en varias décadas. En Sudamérica la Argentina de Javier Milei no sólo se está recuperando poco a poco de la crisis económica que sufre desde hace años, es que se ha convertido en el aliado preferencial de EEUU en Hispanoamérica. Trump ve en Milei un socio muy confiable que servirá de contrapeso a la influencia china en la región. En Siria las cosas también han mejorado. Tras la caída de Assad en 2024 el nuevo Gobierno ha conseguido que les retiren casi todas todas las sanciones, lo que permitirá reconstruir el país y atraerá inversión extranjera. Para los sirios 2025 ha sido el primer año de paz en los últimos tres lustros. En el lado opuesto varios países han sufrido reveses importantes. Irán ha encajado el mayor golpe: su programa nuclear está destruido, aliados como Hezbolá muy debilitados y, para colmo de males, nuevas sanciones y la crisis económica va a más agravada por la inflación desbocada y protestas callejeras. Sus aliados venezolanos están incluso peor.
