Recorded on the morning of Norways National Day the 17th of May in a park west in Bergen. Spring is in full effect, and the dawn chorus sounds wonderful! Recorder: Sony PCM A10 Mic: LOM micro Usi as "tree ears"
This is a short clip of a longer project I´m working on. Recording the fjords in the western part of Norway. In this clip you can hear a lot of crustations, a cod or two and a big "boom" that most likely is from a road construction on the other side of the mountain. feel free to check out my YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOYhRGOd_AKMb7grQFcKqYA
As the whole world was tired of 2020, there was a lot of fireworks to mark the end! I rigged up my Røde NT-SF1 in my backyard, and recorded the whole celebration. Location: Bergen Mic: Røde NT-SF1 Recorder: Zoom F6
My better half and I, spent the better part of a week camping on an inhabited island north of Bergen called Skarvøy. It is a very interesting place, both in location and history. Now covered in vegetation, this island is rich in sounds from several species of birds, rodents and the seasonal sheep and goats. This night, I dropped my Sony PCM M10 with my trusty LOM Uzi´s in a tree, facing the fjord and nearby islands. There was quite a lot of wind, and the recording is clipping on one or two occasions. But I kept it in, as I feel it has its place in the soundscape. As seen on the picture, the fjord is right in front of the mics. And there is a strong current audible during the whole recording. You can also hear a distant machine once or twice from ship traffic Other than some most needed low frequency cutting, there is no additional processing made to the recording. Recoded in 96kHz / 24 Bit
This is from one of those rare summer nights, when there is quite a lot of rain, but next to no wind. Close your eyes, and listen to the sound of the rain, and the dawn chorus Recorded on the 7th of July from 0230 - 0400 using my Sony PCM A10 with the LOM Uzi´s Photo taken about three hours before the rain begun. watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/XBPAKqZDZBg and feel free to download this recording in full 96kHz/24Bit resolution.
One train arriving, one train departing. Recorded on yet another quiet day at
Recorded in Torvalmenningen in Bergen. This place is normally really crowded and loud, but now... This is a Binaural mixdown from 1st order ambisonic, so for best result, listen with headphones
As I celebrated Christmas with my family, in a cabin far up in the mountains, I had the opportunity to record a frozen river. it was obviously not completely frozen, as I could hear running water under the ice. I recorded in several different places, as the sound changed every time I moved the microphone a few centimeters. What you get to hear, is a short compilation of some of the recodings I did that cold Christmas morning.
Rain without any wind is a rare thing here in Bergen. Here is a soundbite from the downfall recorded in my yard.
As we have moved in to a new house over the summer, the uploads has been few. The roof of the house is being replaced, so the only thing between the autoum rain, and the attic, is a thin tarpaulin. The sound was dark and quite relaxing to listen to
Sankthansaften is celebrated on June 23 in Norway. The day is also called Jonsok, which means "John's wake", important in Roman Catholic times with pilgrimages to churches and holy springs. For instance, up until 1840, there was a pilgrimage to the Røldal Stave Church in Røldal (southwest Norway) whose crucifix was said to have healing powers. Today, however, Sankthansaften is largely regarded as a secular or even pre-Christian event. In most places, the main event is the burning of a large bonfire. In Western Norway, a custom of arranging mock weddings, both between adults and between children, is still kept alive. The wedding was meant to symbolize the blossoming of new life. Such weddings are known to have taken place in the 1800s, but the custom is believed to be older. It is also said that, if a girl puts flowers under her pillow that night, she will dream of her future husband.
A soundbite of a calm trip, with a small open boat on the fjords.
It really was a busy morning outside my house this Saturday. Birds singing, sirens, helicopters, ships, and a sound I don't recognize. It is not often I can appreciate the helicopter transport, but this time it became an interesting part of the soundscape.
This is the sound of a cobblestone-street in Bergen, while it is getting renovated.
As I am getting ready to proof-read a compendium I have been working on, the printer is doing what it does best. Can you guess how many pages there are?
A short binaural soundbite of the biggest selebration of the year, Norway's National Day, the 17th of May.
When waiting for the train, you can take some time to listen to all the busy people, and weird sounds that occur in a waiting room at a larger train station.
As I walked in the woods, I came across this huge cave. Dark, cold, damp and full of lovely echoes.
As I am walking on a beach in Rhu, just outside of Helensburgh Scotland, I hear this song. I have no experience identifying bird species by song, but with the help of Georg Vlad in the "Nature Sound Recording" group on Facebook, the bird was immediately identified. After a long day at work, this bird song, on this beach was what I needed to unplug and find peace.
Enjoying a quiet spring day on a pier in Bergen . The sun has barely begun to heat the city, so it is buzzing with people in the streets.
One does not always have to travel far to find interesting sounds. When it was stiff breeze where I live, I heard a very nice and interesting sound out of the ventilation of the washing machine.
As the sun was setting on this cold evening, the wind was quite strong on a relatively calm fjord
Placed my recorder in a large metal tube while a storm was raging outside.
When you spend the night in a tent while an autumn storm rages outside, the sound inside is quite dark and ominous
Recorded in the middle of Bergen, mid day. I walked passed a small park, and heard the birds singing. Or rather, the young fledglings calling for food.
I take the bus to work a lot, and this is a part of that short journey
Join me on a binaural trip to the grocery store (best use headphones)
Recorded in a busy fjord with lots of traffic. What you hear is a large ship, passing slowly
Walked passed a church (Mariakirken, Bergen) , just in time for the mid-day chimes.
