Self improvement (and life!) is like herding bloody cats. Just when you think you've got one issue sorted, the rest bugger off to god-know's where and ignore you, or shit in your clean washing. Now, we're not experts but we've been around a fair bit and h
In this episode we look at The Subtle Art of Not Giving A Fuck by Mark Manson and chapter 4 in particular. We'll spend a few episodes on this book, it's amazing and has so much to offer! Thanks to Mark for sharing his unique insights with the world! We look at how our values and how we measure our values impacts our happiness and perspective on life, how to identify our values, and the Self Awareness Onion! We break down the 3 'layers' of the onion, what each layer represents and what we need to do in each layer in order to become more honest with ourselves as well as how they can be extremely confronting but will drive the most fundamental change in your life. You can email me at: jacob@foreverherdingcats.com I would love to hear from you.I'm still working on getting all the other things in place for this podcast: a website, social media etc, so I would be so grateful for feedback and support from my listeners! Stay honest and do the work!Jacob
I look at the second principle from Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People - giving honest and sincere appreciation; what it means, how it's done and why it's important.Reflect on your own life: How have you felt when receiving genuine appreciation? What effect did it have on you?Did it alter how you felt, what you did etc?How deep is this need to be appreciated? How has it manifested itself in people, and what has it made them do?A great episode, enjoy and do the work!
My first podcast!I start with reviewing the first part of 'How to Win Friends and Influence People' by Dale Carnegie.Covering the first 'principle' for dealing with people, I cover some key nuggets from the chapter on the effects of criticising people, and how it is received. A key takeaway from this podcast is a strategy with emails and giving yourself space to breathe between when something sets you off and responding.Next show will cover a few concepts from subsequent chapters in the book, and we look at Stoic Philosophy as a concept and some of the basic tenets and who it is for.Enjoy!
