This week on STICK TO WRESTLING we talk the UWF, formerly known as Mid-South Wrestling, during the months of July and August 1986. We talk Bill Watts, Michael Hayes, Missy Hyatt, Ted Dibiase, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Terry Gordy, Jim Ross, Eddie Gilbert, “Dr. Death” Steve Williams, Dark Journey, Sting, One Man Gang, Terry Taylor, Buddy … Continue reading Episode 428: Who Do You Complain To? → The post Episode 428: Who Do You Complain To? appeared first on Stick To Wrestling with John McAdam.
A guy scales the St. Louis Zoo big-cat enclosure, an alleged staged fender bender turns into an armed robbery and multiple police chases, and then we attempt to save everybody's relationships with the 777 Rule. Welcome to another comedy podcast where apparently the only thing separating civilization from complete chaos is a zoo fence and a shared Google Calendar. We start locally at the St. Louis Zoo, where a man decided the normal pedestrian experience simply wasn't immersive enough. Visitors spotted him climbing over a barrier and sitting on elevated artificial rockwork above the big-cat habitat. He never came into direct contact with the animals, nobody was hurt, and he eventually climbed back onto the pedestrian path before being detained. Naturally, the crew's biggest takeaway is that the whole thing had enormous “I bet you won't” energy. Also: please don't be the person who makes the zoo build a gigantic fence because you couldn't resist becoming part of the exhibit. Then things get significantly less goofy with a warning about staged fender-bender robberies. We get into a Florissant case where suspects allegedly rear-ended a Volvo to force the driver to stop, only for the situation to turn into an armed robbery, a fight, a stolen vehicle and multiple police pursuits. Somewhere along the way, the unnamed Volvo driver becomes “Johnny Volvo,” the suspects become the “Jeep Boys,” and this comedy podcast briefly transforms into the least legally sound self-defense seminar ever broadcast. The conversation eventually lands on a much less felonious subject: the 777 Rule for relationships. The idea is simple: every seven days, prioritize a date. Every seven weeks, spend a night away together. Every seven months, take a longer getaway. The point isn't necessarily expensive dinners, luxury hotels or constantly disappearing to a tropical island like you've committed financial crimes. It's intentionally making time for the person you're with before work, kids, chores, schedules and general life nonsense turn you into two ships passing in the hallway. That kicks off a surprisingly thoughtful debate about whether the 777 Rule is realistic, especially when listeners point out that dates, overnight stays and vacations cost money. The crew argues that the exact numbers and activities aren't really the point. Take a walk. Go for a drive. Pack a picnic. Hit a park. Complain together. Whatever works. The goal is to actually prioritize each other instead of realizing six months later that your most meaningful conversation recently was about who forgot to move the laundry.Moon shares how getting away with his wife to review the previous year, plan family goals and figure out priorities has become genuinely valuable. Rizz talks about those brutally busy stretches where work, kids and household responsibilities can leave couples feeling like they barely see each other. Lern points out that sometimes “the funk” simply happens when you stop spending time together. And Rafe reminds everybody that relationships are something you actively build, which is dangerously reasonable territory for this show.We also establish that the 777 Rule can become the 888 Rule, 555 Rule or whatever schedule actually fits your life. The number seven isn't magical. The commitment is the important part. And yes, somehow this eventually leads to Naked Tuesday, hotel-room romance, cheap date ideas and the suggestion that Illinois residents apparently settle relationship problems with sunsets near a levee. We cannot stress enough that this is technically a comedy podcast. So enjoy Episode 6: zoo escapades, robbery shenanigans, relationship advice and another morning where the conversation travels approximately 900 miles without ever leaving the studio.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
The crew kicks things off with the 100-inning softball game supporting the Burton family, where Rafe and Scott discover that 12 straight hours of softball is apparently something human beings willingly participate in. There were legitimate athletes, Chris Kerber brought the stories and good Blues energy, and Team Rizz did what Team Rizz does best: proudly represent athletic mediocrity while somebody else actually knows how to play the sport.Moon, meanwhile, spent his weekend in Los Angeles with Goldfinger for their biggest headlining show ever at the Hollywood Palladium. Between the packed hometown show, backstage chaos and trying to juggle approximately every person he has ever met in Southern California, Moon also wanders into Amoeba Music and suddenly finds himself standing next to Matt Berry. His carefully prepared celebrity interaction consists basically of realizing, “Holy crap, that's Matt Berry,” which honestly is probably better than anything the rest of us would've managed.Delays pile up, passengers get increasingly irritated, everyone lines up to board…and the entire plane waits for one missing flight attendant. When she finally arrives, Moon witnesses a level of leisurely strolling that probably should've been studied by scientists. Hundreds of angry passengers? Connecting flights on the line? Whatever. She had a walking speed and she was committed to it.Rizz heads the opposite direction for a father-son road trip to the University of Arkansas and finally experiences the roadside cathedral known as Buc-ee's. Unfortunately, he discovers that Buc-ee's contains one fatal flaw: other people. Lots and lots of other people. He battles the crowd, buys a Cuban sandwich that immediately disintegrates inside the car and ultimately reaches the devastating conclusion that Buc-ee's is basically a bigger Wally's. Somewhere, a beaver just felt a disturbance in the Force. So yes, this episode has softball, Chesterfield sociology, Goldfinger, Matt Berry, airport rage, Buc-ee's, college nostalgia and weather-induced emotional manipulation. The Grand Theft Auto 6 rumor mill is firing on all cylinders. Alleged leaks suggest GTA 6 could make players actually refuel their cars, because apparently escaping the cops and committing fictional felonies wasn't immersive enough. Now we may get the authentic experience of realizing the tank is on E at the absolute worst possible moment.Naturally, Jean-Claude Van Damme doing the splits leads Lern to ask questions about male anatomy that nobody was emotionally prepared to answer. Suddenly we're discussing whether men have a “seam,” whether God is responsible for said seam, and why absolutely none of this information was included in health class. From there, Crap on Celebrities turns surprisingly philosophical when Dr. Dre and Billy Corgan land on opposite sides of the AI music debate. This comedy podcast also gets into Bret Michaels recovering from kidney stone surgery while apparently refusing to surrender his hat under any circumstances, Kacey Musgraves performing while floating on giant disco-ball truck nuts, Dolly Parton exploring avatar performances, Bonnaroo taking a year off, and St. Louis artist Slater covering Hole's “Violet.”National Treasure 3 inches closer to becoming a real movie, and Hollywood is ready to cast King Scott in a major role.A guy scales the St. Louis Zoo big-cat enclosure, an alleged staged fender bender turns into an armed robbery and multiple police chases, and then we attempt to save everybody's relationships with the 777 Rule. Presented by Lauren Stibgen We are looking at seven things that are an abomination to God, and now we will focus on our mouth. More specifically: a lying tongue, a false witness that breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers. Three of the seven things on the list God hates have to do with how we choose to use our mouth. And all three of these things that God hates us to do with our mouth can show up at work. Clearly if we use our words to lie, we lack integrity. What about a lying tongue? Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue is for a moment (Proverbs 12:19). God wants you to be honest in all ways. This includes those little lies you may call “white lies”. Did you say you sent an email when you didn't? Were you late for work, but said that you were on time? God still grieves this. The Word tell us a lying tongue is for a moment, and truthful lips endure forever. Eventually truth comes to light. In the context of work, depending on what you have lied about, it could have implications on how long your employment “endures”. One of the ways we can lie is by being a false witness. If you don't know, don't comment! And don't assume! Providing untrue information about someone or something at work can have implications far beyond your passing comment. This includes speculating about someone's motives in a situation. If you don't have direct and honest information, it is best to say nothing at all. In Proverbs 12:17 the Word tells us: An honest witness tells the truth, but a false witness tells lies. It is easy to think we know things when we really don't at all. Sometimes at work, you will be called upon as a witness. It is important to only state facts and not assumptions about what you are asked, and not to comment if you truly don't know anything. Sowing discord. The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing (Proverbs 12:18). Think about what happens when you quickly comment about something at work. Being rash means proceeding without a lack of careful consideration of the possible consequences and in this case, of the words being used. Do you blurt things out? Comment in meetings at an inappropriate time? Complain about company policies or other colleagues? Do your inside feelings of dissatisfaction come out? All of this can sow discord and God hates this. How can you bring healing instead? Sometimes, saying nothing is the best thing you can choose.

What if the thing you call complaining is actually an invitation from God? There is a practice found all through the Psalms that most of us have never been taught, and it might be exactly what you need in your hardest seasons. Unlike ordinary complaining, lament is honest prayer directed at God rather than at ourselves or the people around us. Psalm 13 is a powerful example, where David moves from raw honesty about his pain all the way to trust and worship. Lament keeps us on a narrow path between the ditches of denial and despair. It is not a sign of weak faith. It is one of the most courageous and faith-filled things a person can do.

Ken and Anthony break down how the Guardians managed to stay at .500 despite losing Jose Ramirez and Angel Martinez to injury, including a brutally sloppy loss to the Twins that Ken calls some of the dumbest baseball he's seen in years. They debate whether winning the division a third straight year would even be enough for Guardians fans given the team's playoff track record, while praising rookies like Kahlil Watson for playing hard every night. Ken closes by admitting he's bracing himself for the Browns to name Deshaun Watson their starting quarterback, even though he doesn't want it to happen.
While strict laws enforce behaviour, building a gracious society requires mutual trust rather than constant rules. Synopsis: On Wednesdays, The Straits Times takes a hard look at Singapore's social issues of the day with guests. Singapore seems to be introducing more laws to police everyday behaviour - from tray returns to using mobile phones while driving. But can legislation really make people more gracious, or does it simply expose a deeper trust deficit in society? And when should citizens confront bad behaviour themselves instead of reporting it to the authorities? Opinion Editor Lin Suling speaks with sociologist Dr Tan Ern Ser, Adjunct Principal Research Fellow at the Institute of Policy Studies, about whether Singapore is becoming a nation that relies too heavily on rules, complaints and punishment — and what it would take to build a genuinely high-trust, "We First" society. Highlights (click/tap above): 3:35 Why does seemingly ordinary, considerate behaviour disappear once people get behind the wheel? 5:40 Does criminalising phone use while driving mean public education has failed? 12:25 Have we outsourced everyday conflict resolution to the state instead of correcting bad behaviour ourselves? 13:55 Is Singapore's complaint culture undermining trust and creating online vigilantism? 16:46 When is reporting someone the right thing to do? When should it be the last resort? 19:52 Thirty years after the Singapore Kindness Movement, have we become kinder or simply better at enforcing rules? 21:28 How can Singapore encourage people to speak up against antisocial behaviour without leaving them to stand alone? 23:11 Can Singapore realistically become a 'We First' society? What would a genuinely high-trust society look like? Taylor Swift Today with Lyla: the honeymoon is on, the newlyweds have vanished — and the wedding still won't stop making headlines. This week a genuine war broke out over whether the wedding of the century was fabulous or, per some anonymous guests, kind of tacky. The complaints: a buffet instead of a sit-down dinner, an hour-long luxury raffle, and vows that ran twenty minutes each. The pushback came from people willing to attach their names to it. Plus the secret dog nobody knew about, the loveliest story about the man who stood beside Taylor at the altar, and a little more on the dress.
How often do you find yourself rushing… even when nothing is actually wrong? You're hurrying your kids to get in the car. Speed-walking through the grocery store. Eating lunch while answering emails. Counting down to Friday. Thinking, "I just need to get through today." Somewhere along the way, I think we've started treating ordinary life like it's an emergency. I started saying these 5 words to myself... "This is not an emergency." Today we're going to talk about how to stop living like every single thing is on fire... ...because it isn't. And when you start reminding yourself that this isn't an emergency... you don't just become calmer… you become happier overall. We Have Accidentally Turned Everyday Life Into An Emergency Think about how many times today you probably said... "Hurry." "We're late." "Come on." "We don't have time." "Let's go." Most of us are moving at emergency speed... ...without an emergency. Ask yourself... If someone watched security camera footage of my life... would they think I was constantly responding to disasters? Or just making breakfast? Because sometimes they look exactly the same. Examples We Rush Through Every Day Getting kids ready for school Instead of... "Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!" Imagine saying internally... "This isn't an emergency." Will they still get dressed? Yes. Will yelling make it faster? Usually not. But it definitely changes everyone's morning. Waiting in line We immediately grab our phones. Complain. Get frustrated. Instead... "This isn't an emergency." Maybe it's two extra minutes. Maybe this becomes your breathing break. Traffic Somebody cuts you off. You're late. Heart rate skyrockets. Except... You arriving thirty seconds sooner changes almost nothing. Grocery shopping People rush aisle to aisle. Barely noticing anyone. Never smiling. Never enjoying choosing food they'll feed their family. Life becomes one giant checklist. Cleaning your house Instead of... "I have to get this done." Try... "I GET to create a home my family enjoys." Same task. Different experience. Folding laundry Jay Shetty often talks about mindfulness inside ordinary moments. Laundry isn't stealing your life. Laundry IS your life. These ordinary moments ARE your life. The "Can't Wait Until..." Trap This one is huge. People spend decades saying... "I can't wait until..." The baby sleeps through the night. They're potty trained. They're in kindergarten. Middle school. High school. College. Retirement. Vacation. Friday. Summer. The remodel is finished. When we finally move. When the house is clean. When I lose twenty pounds. Jay Shetty talks often about how our minds live in the future... and miss the only place life actually exists. Today. What If This Was The Good Part? This might be the chapter you'll miss someday. The noisy dinner table. Little baseball cleats by the door. Teenagers asking for rides. Kids needing hugs. Messy kitchens. Dog hair everywhere. The chaos... might actually be the dream. Looking For What's Wrong One thing I've noticed... When we're rushing... our brain becomes a problem detector. Traffic. Mess. Noise. Delays. People moving too slowly. Bad service. Rain. We're constantly scanning for irritation. Instead... What if we asked... What's beautiful about this moment? What would I miss if this disappeared tomorrow? The Brain Finds What It Looks For If you're looking for inconvenience... you'll always find it. If you're looking for joy... you'll find that too. This is something both Mel Robbins and Jay Shetty return to in different ways: attention shapes experience. You don't control every circumstance, but you do have influence over where your mind rests. Different Phases Of Life Young parents Instead of... "I just need bedtime." Think... "This little voice asking for one more story won't last forever." Parents of teenagers Instead of... "I can't wait until they're independent." Think... "One day they'll stop needing me this much." Working professionals Instead of rushing meeting to meeting... Take thirty seconds. Breathe. Drink your coffee while it's hot. Look out the window. Nothing explodes. Entrepreneurs Everything feels urgent. Every email. Every customer. Every notification. Every opportunity. But if we're honest... very few business decisions require panic. Good businesses are built through consistent decisions... not frantic ones. Questions To Ask Yourself Whenever you feel yourself speeding up... Ask: Is someone in danger? Is this actually urgent? Will this matter next week? Can I slow my breathing? Can I speak softer? Can I smile? Can I enjoy this? Can I choose peace instead? My Favorite Reset Whenever I notice myself getting worked up... I literally say... "This is not an emergency." Sometimes out loud. Immediately... My shoulders drop. My breathing slows. My voice softens. I become a better mom. A better wife. A better friend. A better business owner. Not because my circumstances changed... but because my nervous system changed. Tiny Moments That Become Better Waiting for your coffee. Watching your child tie their shoes. Cooking dinner. Folding towels. Driving to volleyball practice. Standing in line at Disneyland. Watching Little League warmups. Listening to your teenager tell a story that takes forever. Walking your dog. Sunsets. Rainstorms. Family dinners. These moments don't need to be escaped. They're the moments we're going to remember. CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK This week... Every single time you notice yourself rushing... Pause. Take one deep breath. And simply say... "This isn't an emergency." Then intentionally slow down by just 10%. Walk slower. Talk slower. Eat slower. Drive calmer. Listen longer. Smile more. You might be surprised how much life you discover in those extra few seconds. Life isn't usually asking us to move faster. It's asking us to be more present. The irony is that we spend so much of life racing toward the future... that we barely experience the life we're actually living. So this week... Give yourself one simple reminder. "This is not an emergency." Because most of the time... it isn't. And when you stop treating ordinary moments like crises... those ordinary moments become extraordinary. I hope this episode helps you slow down & enjoy the beautiful life you're already living.

10% off online therapy at BetterHelp.com/aitapod Folks, it's an ep about CHEATING. No one likes to get cheated on, but cheating itself, seems kinda fun. In this one we unpack some situations where cheaters get their comeuppance and people wrestle with being friends with THE CHEATING TYPE. Me personally, I never could imagine cheating on account of having one woman seemed like plenty too many already!!! Yes, I am becoming a boomer. Anyways, enjoy the ep and remember to set boundaries if you do crack. It's one of the biggest pitfalls of using the drug. We have all experienced seasons of life that we never expected. In those moments, it is easy to complain and demand that God change our circumstances to fit what we want. When those times come, will you grumble because things are not as you think they should be, or will you trust the Lord for all that He is and all that He is doing?
