Stick out your thumb and start a conversation with serendipity.
Join us in the vicarage as we curl up on the sofa to discuss the bible from fresh perspectives. A challenging conversation in places - we introduce new complications which deepen and enhance a more traditional reading of scripture.
This week the universe delivered a first hand encounter with a revolutionary president of Uruguay and his chrysanthemums, and a beautifully unsettling experience with the drug iowaska.
I'm as surprised by this guest as you are. This conversation gives more insight than any of us could have ever hoped for! Learn what the 'H' in His name stands for, his opinion on The New Testament, and how He has mastered the art of transendence.
Conversation with Episcopal Priest Kenneth J. Katona. Ken is talking to me from Northern California where he is writing a book which aims to re-evaluate the meaning of the Christian Gospel.
Love is a war. It's messy and there are casulties. Its a deathly and beautiful dance and the dance-floor can be a terrifying place. Hear thoughts from my friend Andrea in Oregon, and a conversation with an old man at a bus stop.
Are the finer things in life only available to a select few? How do you identify the point at which pursuing pleasure becomes unhealthy? Once you've learnt to experience the layers of taste does that make it easier to then see in layers and think in layers? As usual there are more questions here than answers, but questions can lead to curiosity and curiosity can lead to interest and interest can lead to passion and passion, if well applied, can often lead to excellence...
The real occurrences in my life didn’t happen during the big events, but in the little gaps between them. The church meetings and big Christian rallies were not the places where I had life changing experiences. Instead, it was on my days off and during my holidays (when I was far from organisations and institutions) that I felt free enough to be sure that the experiences I had were genuine. You might recognise the name Kika. The friend who I travelled with in Uruguay is the Brazilian friend who sang for me at the end of my last episode.
Chrissie Chevasutt runs a facebook group called Transgender Church. She talks to me about the central role of transgender people. We are fools if we think that tolerating the presence of the marginalised and allowing them space in the margins is enough. By joining them in that space we make them central. And not as an act of grace towards them. It’s an act which benefits us greatly, as it’s the only way to gain the perspective which helps us to truly see ourselves and the world around us.
Sometimes we would like answers to solve the problem of our pain and grief. Sometimes the best answers are more questions. Sometimes when we call out and hear our questions returning to us like an echo from the heart of a fellow traveller on the journey of grief, we find comfort and the strength to continue...
Make yourself a hot chocolate and don your stripy bed cap. Garbutt and Garcés are sat up in bed learning to sew when they would really rather not. Is growth dependent on pushing ourselves that bit extra? Is good parenting aided by the rediscovery of our inner child? Is the earth flat? Are we a drop in the ocean or the entire ocean in a drop?... find pics and videos on our facebook page: www.facebook.com/garbuttandgarces
