Opinions in sport are rife. It creates debate like no other topic in society. ‘Unpopular opinion, but...’ is a phrase used far and wide across the world, in schools, pubs, workplaces and much more. Sports fans are forever eager to tell their peers of an outlandish view they have on a chosen sport, but in most settings, that person has their opinion shot down on sight. Social media platforms have helped to combat this, but no Twitter thread can compare to having an open platform to express an opinion. This podcast aims to be that platform, giving every opinion a fair hearing. We hope you enjoy.

In Episode 10, we switch up the roles on NHT for an end of season special. Our guest discusses one of the biggest talents in the Premier League and what his international future entails. He's been in the news for good and bad reasons over the years, but his footballing talent has shone through this season, leading to many suggesting international acclaim beckons. But how big of a role can he play? Is a place in the squad enough or is he too good to leave out from the XI? How much is dependant on a move away from his boyhood club? We discuss all of that and much more in our latest episode.
In Episode 9, our guest proposes that Damian Lillard should be considered as one of the top 5 best players in the NBA. While there is no doubt that Lillard's career has been one which is criminally underrated, placing him in a bracket amongst the league's most elite is certainly controversial. We look over his career so far and compare how he stacks up against those who are typically in the conversation.
In Episode 8, our guest proposes a radical change to English Rugby's top division, a change that would have huge ramifications. It's a league that has been settled for decades, but could a shake-up lead to a higher standard of Rugby and an opportunity for some of the Championship's most ambitious clubs to make it to the big time and prosper? We delve into the finances, logistics and benefits of the proposal, whilst comparing it to a potential model that has been muted in the media for months.
In Episode 7, we change up the structure and have an honest chat regarding racial generalisations in sport. The Black Lives Matter movement is gathering rapid momentum and we hope this episode contributes to that, by making sports fans think twice about some stereotypes they may have.
In Episode 6, a die-hard Manchester United fan puts forward his claim that one of United's finest should be ranked higher than two prime members of England's golden generation. In an age where statistics are often a determining factor in a sporting argument, what matters more: team accomplishments or individual heroics? We delve into those stats, along with footballing attributes and try to unpick the reasons why this man is often left out of the discussion.
In Episode 5, our guest suggests that a striker who is commonly regarded as one of the best in the Premier League, is in fact a flop and ranks as Arsenal's worst piece of business in the last 10 years. The episode delves into his statistics, how he's impacted other signings and what it is about his style that stands out for better or worse. In recent history, Arsenal have made a habit of pulling off some underwhelming transfers, some are probably jumping out to you now. So surely it's inconceivable to think this man ranks at the bottom? Time to find out.
In Episode 4, we welcome not one, but two guests onto the show. Crucially, both share the same view that a 21st century sporting icon isn't even the best from his sport. The pair have their own favourites and over the course of the show, they battle it out to persuade Harry why their player should in fact be considered the GOAT. Our guests bring key stats, analyse differing play-styles and discuss the wider legacy that these three players will leave behind once they call time on their iconic careers.
In Episode 3, our guest proposes a radical change to the English football cup system, which would see one cup scrapped and another transformed into a completely new entity. We weigh up the issues with the current system, including the amount of minutes England's best players are racking up, as well as the fall from grace that English football's most historic tournament has undergone. Our guest gives his full proposal, which has taken inspiration from other sports leagues such as the NBA, NFL and MLB.
In Episode 2, our guest challenges the common belief that there is one man and one man only that rules the cricketing world. In the eyes of 1.3 billion Indian cricket super-fans, the question of who is the greatest of all time is not a question, it's a fact. With a staggering 34,347 runs and a record-breaking 100 centuries to his name, it's hard to argue with them. But is cricket all about stats? Does someone's playing style and leadership qualities matter more? We explore this idea and also examine the players our guest believes trump this Indian cricket legend in a 1-hour special.
In Episode 1, we delve into what football could look like without a rule that has been in place since the 19th century. If Marco Van Basten and Sócrates are advocates of it, then it's certainly worth a discussion. How would formations look? What players would come into their element and who could fall by the wayside? In general, how would the average match of Football look to fans across the globe? We cover all those topics and much more in Episode 1 of the 'Not Having That' podcast.
