While celebrating clutch performances, Tierney zeroes in on the alarming struggles of shortstop Anthony Volpe, whose persistent defensive errors and slumping bat are casting a dark shadow over the team's World Series aspirations. He passionately argues that significant changes are needed if the Yankees truly want to contend, emphasizing the mental edge lost and the pressing issues that simply won't resolve themselves.

The South and the SEC took over college football starting in 1998 -- and the North and the Big Ten helped let it happen. This five-part podcast series will examine the how and why of that -- from coaches to players to attitudes to geography to cheating to luck. Between 1998 and 2022, the North won just two national titles as Alabama's Nick Saban and a host of other Southern champs put the North in a corner. Episode 1 starts with a moment of Northern superiority -- the 2006 showdown between No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Michigan. Then it explains how it all unraveled, including some close calls for the North that might have rendered this podcast moot if they'd gone another way. And yeah, once the South started winning, the South started bragging. The North didn't have much of an answer, on the field or in a war of words. The next four episodes will dive even deeper on coaches, players, attitudes and the shift in the sport that is ending this era of Northern shortcoming. Hosts Doug Lesmerises and Bill Landis from the daily college college football Kings of the North appreciate you being here, and they hope you enjoy The 25 Year Winter. Producer: Michael Henahan.

Beau Williams Talks About One year with My Soulmate Our Seek Reality guest is Beau Williams, who knows how to begin his book with a bang! Beau was half of a lovely couple, and as One Year with My Soulmate begins, he tragically discovers that his beautiful young beloved, Melanie, has just shot herself in the chest with his shotgun. Oh my god! But fortunately, Beau's engaging book gets much better from there! Beau was born in Palo Alto, California, where he was a four-sports athlete in high school. He took a postgraduate year at Phillips Andover Academy in Massachusetts, where he first discovered his passion for acting and playwriting. He went on to attend the University of Colorado, where he played tight end, won a Big 12 Championship, and earned a degree in Communication. It was there that he took his first screenwriting course, and he began to write screenplays. Beau moved to Los Angeles in 2004 and became a writer and event producer, with experience in both film and live entertainment. In 2009, he founded Martin Entertainment Group, or (MEG), which has hosted thousands of events across Los Angeles's beach communities. He wrote, produced, and starred in the feature film Americons, released in 2015, and later he licensed the rights to Bestival, producing Bestival Bali in Indonesia in 2017. Beau's debut memoir is One Year with My Soulmate, which is the first book in his Sunflower Signals series. This book chronicles the transformative love story between Beau and his late partner, Melanie. It's a journey through intimacy, grief, spiritual awakening, and post-loss reconnection. This book was written across four countries—Indonesia, the United States, Spain, and Northern Ireland—and guided by signs, synchronicities, and a deep commitment on Beau's part to honouring Melanie's life that was cut so short. In October of 2025, Beau will launch a new event in Bali that was inspired by Melanie, called The Butterfly Effect—a healing experience that incorporates the same breathwork, movement, writing, and spiritual practices that he used to help himself to recover from her loss. Beau's website is http://sunflowersignals.com. Learn more about Roberta here: http://robertagrimes.com https://seekreality.com

Dale Earnhardt Jr welcomes in his father's championship-winning crew chief Doug Richert for a special edition of the Dale Jr Download. On the heels of the Becoming Earnhardt: 1980 series, the two dive into Dale Earnhardt's sophomore season & first Cup Championship. Doug was only 20 years old at the time, but he has plenty of stories to tell. Doug's relationship with Dale Earnhardt went beyond the race track, as he shares stories of the two of them spending time waterskiing on the lake in between race weekends. The #2 team started the season swinging, winning the Busch Clash in Daytona. From there, the team won races at Atlanta & Bristol and were early contenders for the Winston Cup Championship. In the middle of the season, Crew Chief Jake Elder leaves the team, suddenly putting Doug in charge. He talks about the abrupt transition to the Crew Chief role and what challenges he and the team faced. Dale and Doug discuss the #2 team's main opponents and how they weren't afraid to ruffle feathers along the way. Doug also shares the story of winning the championship at Ontario and why he got in trouble for taking an unauthorized victory lap in Dale's car. What does it take to revive a golf career at age 55 when your body feels broken? How do you adapt to the wildly different challenge of links golf after decades playing American-style courses? Paul Stankowski of the Champions Tour joins Golf Talk America fresh off his top-10 finish at the Dick's Championship to cover these questions and more. Stankowski candidly shares how physical pain had him ready to quit the game entirely just months ago. "I got emotional at the end of the year," he reveals. "I'm like I can't do this anymore. There's no chance I'm going to be able to play beyond this next year if I feel like this." Through specialized training focused on rebuilding his lower body stability, he's experienced a remarkable transformation that has him feeling better than he has in two decades. As the conversation shifts to the upcoming British Open, Stankowski provides fascinating insights into the fundamentally different approach required for links golf. He explains how pros often need to land approach shots 30-40 yards short of greens to accommodate the firm conditions - something that goes against everything they practice week after week on the PGA Tour. The slower green speeds present another adjustment challenge, affecting not just the pace but completely changing break calculations. Stankowski also reveals how top players hire local caddies not to carry their bags, but to provide strategic course insights that might otherwise take five or six practice rounds to discover. The episode concludes with touching stories about Stankowski's son serving as his caddie, creating special father-son moments as they navigate the challenges of tournament golf together. Whether you're interested in the mental challenges of adapting to different golf environments or how athletes can reinvent themselves later in their careers, this conversation offers valuable insights that extend far beyond the golf course. Listen now to gain a deeper appreciation for what makes the British Open uniquely challenging and how professional golfers continue to evolve their games and bodies throughout their careers.
