Here you will find video and audio files from past and present percussion ensembles including the Marching and Concert Percussion Ensembles from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma.
This was the first original composition done by Oklahoma State. It takes material from all the songs of Oklahoma State and groups from Stillwater, Oklahoma. The show is divided into three movements entitled Rock, Pop and Classical. The OSU Alma Mater is the common thread connecting all three movements. This show was dedicated to Brent Wheatley, lead guitarist for Manifest Destiny and ALL alumni of the OSU Marching Percussion Ensemble. (This file was reformatted on January 14, 2007 to be compatible with video ipods)
This is the first halftime show of the 2006 season featuring the music of Earth, Wind and Fire. The drum solo was based on the tune "Getaway".
This is Jon Weber's snare solo from the Marching Percussion Festival hosted by OSU in 1994 with Matt Savage as clinician. Jon placed third at PASIC in 1994 (Atlanta) with this solo (one judge had him in first, one in third - the average score placed him third overall). Jon was a student at OSU from 1990 to 1995. He currently is on faculty at Michigan State University and has been the instructor for the Spartan Marching Percussion Section since arriving at MSU in 1996.
This is the first performance of the 2006 season at the Alpha Freshman Orientation in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Not the best acoustics, but you can tell it is going to be an exciting season!
This file includes the brand new Series 1988, Old Man River, and Tiger of San Pedro. There was no video or cassette made for this year due to financial issues and band wind conditions during the recording sessions. Although the membership is just a little bigger than 1987, the core of people is the same and you can really hear the improvement over the span of only one year.
This is where the modern era began. The members of this line stayed together for a long time and really helped build the foundation for the future.
The Concert Percussion Ensemble performs David Maslanka's "Hohner" at thh 2005 Spring Concert.
The Marching Percussion Ensemble placed second behind Middle Tennessee State University at the 2001 PAS Convention in Nashville, TN. Kudos to the front ensemble on this one!
Not necessarily a production featuring the drumline, but the show was written by this podcaster and I like it :-)
This was the first collaboration between a professional ballet company and a marching percussion ensemble. The music was Apocalyptic Dreams by David Gillingham and arranged by Wayne Bovenschen. The choreography was created by Brian Pitts, artistic director of Ballet Oklahoma.
The 1995 PASIC Show was performed in Phoenix, AZ in November. The ensemble placed third behind Moorehead State and the University of North Texas.
This was the final run of the Ozzy show "in the lot" in Norman before the OSU vs. OU football game. Some nice stuff - some not so much :-) Considering many were playing on 2 year old heads and 10 year old drums, not a bad way to retire the equipment for the alumni band!
