Today’s guest is Carina Reid. Carina strives to empower others to live to their full potential. Her parents found fitness at an early age for her, as a way to harness her energy into something positive. It has lived in her heart ever since helping her find her way through some of her darkest times. This June she will be celebrating 12 years clean and sober and truly believes she would not be where she is today if it weren’t for fitness. Carina has worked at Toadal fitness since 2012 and just won “best of Santa Cruz” fitness instructor, as the first female to ever win in this category. She leads corporate classes at Plantronics, teaches a variety of classes at Hot Yoga Aptos including barefoot Bootcamp which she developed. When not teaching, she loves donating her time to the physical educational program at Santa Cruz juvenile Hall.
Today’s guest is Constance LeBaron. Constance LeBaron has been an entrepreneur for over 80 years. About to turn 97 years old, she started her own business with her twin sister when they were in junior high school and named it Twinson, derived from being known as the Pearson twins. For many decades, Constance has created educational games and books. She’s a life-long inventor while also being a loving wife for 50 years to her husband, David LeBaron, a World War II soldier now buried in Arlington. All the while, raising 10 children – 5 girls, 5 boys – now a grandmother to 22 grandchildren and the great-grandmother to 5 great-grandchildren… so far. Although she’s witnessed more changes in the last century than we could possibly list here, a few things have remained constant: her strong faith in God, her passion for business and her love of sports. A true competitor, and basically, a legend.
