The Schoolhouse Dropouts Series This episode gives an overview of our decision to homeschool our four kids. It shines light on a different perspective in regards to education. Although it does not go too deep in the topic, it is the first of a series of episodes on homeschooling. Our hope is to bring attention and urgency to the forefront so parents can begin to take action in some way in their child's learning.
How do you engage on a daily basis? In this episode, Brandon and Ly discuss the difference between intentional engagement and obligated engagement. Often times we interact and engage with others out of obligation, and we all know anything done out of obligation does not lead us down the path of happiness. Instead, intentionally choose to change the way you think about engagement. The Freemans share some ways to start being more intentional in our engagement with our kids, significant other, friends, associates, and even with ourselves. How will you engage this week?
This is the pilot episode for The Pursuit of Happy Us podcast. It introduces the hosts, Brandon and Ly Freeman, and a snippet of their background experiences. This episode gives an overview of what to expect from the show. On upcoming episodes, the Freemans will share their journey of overcoming daily challenges through changing their thoughts, as well as tips on how you can do the same. The mission is to help and inspire others to choose joy, even in the midst of adversity. What does intentional effort look like when we don't feel motivated? How can we find happiness in any situation? The show will also feature interviews from various family units (singles, single parents, blended families, etc.) as they share how they make the idea and institution of "family" work in their lives. Brandon and Ly also share the vision behind the name: The Pursuit of Happy Us. Pursuit noun: a journey or path toward a goal Happiness noun: a state of being satisfied Us pronoun: used to include the author and the reader or audience "We are in this together. Decision-making is an important skill to have on this pursuit called life. We are faced with many decisions throughout our day that often leaves us frozen with indecisiveness or procrastination. In this episode, Brandon and Ly speak on the factors that make decision-making more difficult than it should be. They share ways for re-framing our thoughts to get to a place of appreciation for both favorable and unfavorable outcomes.
