This is one of the most beautiful texts that has ever been written about the mind and our human experience.. it touches me so deeply each time I read it… This Lady saw something so powerful, so magic.. shared it so beautifully that I cannot not have tears in my eyes each time I read it. I wanted to share it with you here so that you can come back to it anytime you feel you need it.. that you know where to find it.. And I hope it touches you as much as it touches me.. enjoy this magnificent tribute to our humanness. You can also read her Poem here: http://www.dsh-internationalhr.com/thoughts/the-secret-by-mavis-karn/
"I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free. ”... "I.. simply carved away everything that was not David." - Michelangelo
One says there is no leader without followers. But how comes there are followers? A very personal interpretation of the metronome experiment may give us a bit of a different perspective on the subject.. enjoy!
Recording these posts can feel lonely sometimes.. a one way communication.. sending without receiving... although.. wait a minute.. most of the time I do feel connected with you.. and sometimes less.. Do you know this feeling? Do you notice the difference when you communicate and feel connected and when you communicate without connection? Do you notice when the connection is there? With or without the words? With or without the physical presence? And when it's not, despite the words and despite the physical presence?
We have a subject that is important to us, we don't know, we want to know, we think about it, talk about it, we don't see the answer.. we feel stuck.. breath.. pause.. reboot..
Our emotions are energy. We love them, we hate them, we need them. Imagine a life without them.. how dull would it be? Be gentle with yourself and others when the unwanted ones come and go. We all have them.. even the Dalai Lama who laughs about his short short-temperedness!
Transforming through transcending the form.... going back to the source of all possibilities... as an individual or as an organisation... through remembering both who we were before we took the form and who we still are behind the appearance. It gives us the chance to start again from the source and opens new possibilities.
We think we need to have a purpose. It feels sometimes essential for our existence. As if we needed it to know what to do.. But do we really need it? What for? And what do we do with it when we find it? What if we didn't have to look for our purpose?... Because.. it just finds us when it needs us.
Noticing the many ways we can experience the space in between the no longer and the not yet....
What if our psychology and even our brain were too limited to embrace the vastness of life? What if our classical reasoning was not enough to approach the complexity of the world? What if there was much more to see? What if there was a quantum intelligence behind our mind that could open more possibilities? What if it would be as fascinating as the quantum computers that have the potential to process exponentially more data compared to classical computers? What if..? What if..?
There are so many ways to listen.. really, genuinely listening is not an easy exercise.. our intention often defines how we listen.. how do you like to listen?
« Learning the mind is as important as understanding the body. » Usain Bolt.. Learning the mind is as important as understanding anything else we think we need to understand.. whether we are playing alone or as a team.
Do you know teams where the team members respect, listen and support each other, find the best solutions for the task at hand, when the energy flows most of the time, and in the times when it doesn't, they forgive each other? They are 2 things that they do differently.. the one is what I talk about today.. the other one.. I will talk about tomorrow.
When the secret to enjoying each other’s diversity is to first see through it.
That may sound strange but this question is really at the heart of our relationship with other human beings. If we really create our reality in our own mind, what kind of pictures do we create about others? As someone who used to have a habit of being shy, I had to explore this for myself. What kind of pictures do you tend to create in your mind about others? And what impact do those pictures have on your relationship with your fellow human beings?
"The Map is not the Territory" Alfred Korzybski Nobody has ever seen THE reality, the life we experience is a puzzle made of the different realities we all create in our mind. Sometimes those human made realities are so close to each other that we think they are the same.. sometimes they look so different that we feel we have to fight.. sometimes they feel so real that we cannot imagine another one.. at the end they are all useful maps we create in our mind to find our way through the territory of life.. how wonderful that we have the power to communicate to compare our maps and if we want, also the power to create new ones, when the old ones are not helpful anymore..
Our Brain creates thoughts like popcorns.. some of them we innocently tend to take particularly seriously..
Why do we go through life smoothly in some areas of our life and in some others we struggle? Listen to that..
Whether as an individual or as an organization we all have our vulnerability points.. sometimes we wish we could get rid of them.. but be careful what you wish for.. you may lose a lot more than you think... embrace them instead..
Listen to that one thinking of all the moments when your emotions suck!? but you are still not ready to let them go.. please pardon also my language.. it has to do with the subject and because I have those moments as well..
When we fight for our ego, what do we actually fight for and who’s fighting?
Why we don't need to put ourselves in boxes to understand each other...
Do we really know who we actually are? What if there was a lot of freedom in not holding to the thoughts of who we are?
Coaching is another word for helping someone move. Like the very first carriages or chariots that were created by the Egyptians a few thousands years ago to bring people from one place to another. And finally gave their name to this profession. Coaching is about movement. People come to us, coaches, with all sorts of requests.. personal, professional, business questions and often all together. We go to a coach because we look for new answers, we look for clarity, we look for a different way to approach situations or want some kind of relief.. we look for help to see beyond the limitations of our mind, to change perspective, feel, understand, expand and take actions. We look for a coach when we are ready to move. They are so many ways to do that. We can be given some exercises, we can be told what and how to do things, we can look outside for explanations etc.. but we actually learn in a much more sustainable way through insights. That’s the one I prefer. An insight is a fresh new way of looking at something. When the thing does not change but the way we look at it does, opening totally new mental perspectives. After that you can stay or you can go, you can handle the situation this way or another way. You can say yes or you can say no. You have way more options for actions and the direction to take is more obvious. That’s freedom and your mind can be creative again. That’s a change from the inside to the outside. A mental change that leads to what ever changes need to happen in the reality outside. And it is the same wether you are a leader and/or a mother, young or older, wether you need to make a strategic decision, work with your team, prepare for an important conversation or need to feel inside of you what you really want. The mental principals are the same. For all of us. When we really understand deeply those basic principles of our mind they have a transformative impact. It changes us profoundly. But this topic is such a vast and beautiful one I would like to keep the deeper exploration of that word for another day. This podcast is about all that. Giving you here and there input to help you see things differently so that you can be an even greater version of yourself and do in your life what ever amazing things you’re meant to do. It’s not about debating or sharing opinions here. It’s about connecting with what is true for all of us, about exploring and expanding our views on reality and the questions of life. When I say life, I include work, leadership, business, relationships, well being, emotions etc.. Because all that is part of our lives. The advent calendar is actually a fun exercise based on improvisation. It’s a bit playful, starting each time new and seeing what comes out of my brain that may be useful to you. Without rehearsal just based on what comes in the moment. Short, unpolished , focused on a single topic each time with the intention to share what i see, what I have learned over the more than 3 decades exploring the field of the human mind, hoping that it might inspire you to discover new fields of thoughts, to look at your reality from a different angle .. hoping that you may get new insights in a way or another to see and do things differently in your life including your work. In these 24 Podcast Chats we will not cover the whole scope of the subject, the intention is just to point you in a particular direction so that you can continue to see what ever you need to see by yourself. What I do with this podcast after Januar 2020. I don’t know yet. But I know I will know at some point. I hope you‘ll stay with me in this journey and we can enjoy this movement together. I look forward to it. And don’t hesitate to reach out whenever you feel like it.
