How forest fires effect climate change due to total carbon emissions and the high volume of trees lost that help remove CO2 from the atmosphere, drought length and severity, total global sea ice loss and sea level rise, the frequency and types of extreme weather events ahead in our future, the effect on public health and even our insurance rates are looked at. And we discuss the Anthropocene epoch, or sixth extinction event, that we are currently experiencing here in our present day.
Climate Change 101, Part 1, Segment 2 – Getting right back to it, we go in to atmospheric CO2 levels, CO2’s effects on plants, humans, and animals is discussed in depth, CO2’s effect on freshwater and saltwater is also examined. We also look closely at coral bleaching, inland and coastal algae blooms, CO2’s effect on soil erosion and degradation, and how deforestation adds to the climate change problem.
