If you run a 1–2 location med spa and want the option to scale or sell in the next few years, the way you build your business today determines whether buyers see opportunity—or risk. In this episode, I sit down with Audrey Neff, Chief Marketing Officer at Aviva Aesthetics, to unpack what actually drives enterprise value in an aesthetics practice. We talk about how the industry is evolving beyond traditional private equity rollups, why owner-operators often expand too early, and what it takes to build a med spa that's attractive to partners, lenders, or investors. The goal isn't to rush toward an exit—it's to operate your practice in a way that gives you options. The Enterprise Value Problem Most Med Spas Miss The underlying financial challenge throughout this conversation is enterprise value—specifically how med spa owners unintentionally limit the value of their practice when expansion decisions outpace operational structure. Many aesthetics practices grow revenue quickly but fail to build the systems, leadership structure, and financial discipline that make growth transferable. Enterprise value increases when your med spa can operate predictably, profitably, and without constant owner intervention. The Financial Signals That Tell You Whether You're Ready to Scale Tune in to learn several operational and financial realities that determine whether a med spa becomes a scalable asset or remains owner-dependent income. • Why many med spa owners open a second location too early • How provider utilization reveals whether your practice is actually ready to expand • What private buyers and investors evaluate when assessing enterprise value • Why EBITDA quality matters more than top-line revenue growth • How service mix diversification protects margins and reduces operational risk • Why leadership development and culture directly impact the value of your practice Operational Moves That Increase Enterprise Value If you're serious about increasing the enterprise value of your med spa, these are operational fundamentals I recommend focusing on. Providers should be operating at roughly 80% utilization or higher before you consider opening another location. Expanding without demand simply multiplies overhead. Many aesthetic practices overcomplicate provider pay. Standardized compensation models—often around 20% of provider-generated revenue—help protect margins while keeping incentives clear. Repeatable processes for treatment delivery, patient intake, scheduling, and reporting create operational consistency and reduce owner dependency. Over-reliance on a single revenue category—such as injectables or trending treatments—can destabilize cash flow and weaken enterprise value. Balanced treatment portfolios create more predictable revenue. Before You Open Location #2 or Beyond Opening an additional med spa location often feels like the natural next step—but expansion before operational maturity can create significant financial risk. Before scaling, ask yourself: • Are providers already near full utilization? • Are systems and SOPs strong enough to replicate operations in a second location? • Does your leadership team have the capacity to manage additional staff and patients? Scaling multiplies both strengths and weaknesses. When your operational structure is solid, a second location increases enterprise value. When it isn't, it simply multiplies chaos. Preparing Your Med Spa for Future Enterprise Value If you want to understand how your med spa's financial structure impacts scalability, start with the Financial Scaling Playbook for Aesthetics. Fertility Friday Radio | Fertility Awareness for Pregnancy and Hormone-free birth control
In this episode, Lisa explores a landmark Danish study — the largest of its kind — examining the relationship between sperm quality and life expectancy in nearly 80,000 men followed for up to 50 years. The headline finding: men with the highest total motile sperm counts lived an average of 2.7 years longer than men with the lowest counts, and this association held consistently across multiple semen parameters, including sperm concentration, semen volume, and total sperm count. Lisa walks through her five key takeaways from the research, including how pre-existing illness did not account for the association and why men with azoospermia fell into a distinct category of their own. The discussion raises a compelling question for practitioners: could semen parameters function as an early biological signal of underlying health — much like the menstrual cycle does in women? This episode offers an evidence-informed lens for thinking about male reproductive health beyond fertility outcomes alone. Follow this link to view the full show notes page! Talk Art Season 27 continues with sculptor Nicolas Deshayes whose works explore the form and materiality of bodies and what happens below their surfaces. Hosted by Robert Diament.Process, or processing, is the impetus for Deshayes' sculptures, which manage to convey states of liquid, hardness, hot, cold, and mechanically produced objects and systems. Vital processes of ingestion, and circulation, are evoked by elegantly utilitarian forms. Deshayes' surfaces are consistently impermeable – recalling the architecture of public amenities.Using predominantly casting methods with bronze, iron, or earthenware, Deshayes tends to seek out artisans and factories who specialise in techniques of production; their historical lineages and geographical particularities converging within his conceptualisation of the work as it develops.Extreme heat is used in these casting processes commonly and the materials rely on changes in temperature in order to come alive. But molten metal rapidly hardens into a solid form, its movement as if suspended in time. Deshayes has recently rendered some of these sculptures functional again, plumbing hot water around a room, or pumping water into public ponds. In his 2016 installation Thames Water, he recast the gallery as an organism by installing a series of interconnected radiators, in doing so concretising an analogy of the body and its systems to the plumbed and networked city. It is in these works that we are reminded of how their organic forms are not only reminiscent of the bodies of humans, but also of domestic, civic and biological circulatory systems.Nicolas Deshayes was born in Nancy, France, in 1983, and lives and works in Dover. In this episode of the Neuroveda Podcast for Complex Health, Gillian Ehrlich, ARNP, sits down with Dr. Carley Squires to discuss apheresis, with a focus on therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), also known as plasmapheresis.Apheresis means the removal of something from the blood, and the type of apheresis depends on what is being removed. At Neuroveda, the focus is plasma apheresis, meaning plasma is removed and replaced with albumin and saline. Therapeutic plasma exchange is an extracorporeal blood purification technique designed to remove a portion of plasma that may contain potentially harmful substances such as autoantibodies, inflammatory cytokines, immune complexes, and other immune mediators involved in immune dysregulation.Dr. Squires explains the broader umbrella of therapeutic apheresis, including red blood cell exchange, leukapheresis, plateletpheresis, lipid/LDL apheresis, extracorporeal photopheresis, and H.E.L.P. apheresis. While H.E.L.P. apheresis is not currently available in the United States, interest in apheresis expanded during the rise of long COVID, when patients began traveling internationally for treatment.Therapeutic plasma exchange has been used for decades in hospital settings, primarily for autoimmune disease, but is now being explored for additional applications including long COVID, neuroinflammatory conditions, and longevity medicine. Research suggests TPE may help support immune modulation through mechanisms such as:• Removal of immune complexes• Reduction of inflammatory cytokines• Correction of altered Th1/Th2 immune balance• Increased T regulatory and T suppressor cellsEmerging research has also explored TPE for PANDAS/PANS, pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders triggered by infection.Referenceshttps://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0149763417305833https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10513708/While additional research is still needed for many of these applications, Neuroveda has also observed significant clinical improvements over the past several years, including reductions in toxic burden from mycotoxins, heavy metals, solvents, plastics, and other persistent environmental toxins. The episode also reviews current American Society for Apheresis (ASFA) guidance, which places many emerging uses of apheresis into Category III, meaning the optimal role is still being defined and treatment decisions should be individualized.ReferenceConnelly-Smith L, et al. Guidelines on the Use of Therapeutic Apheresis in Clinical Practice. J Clin Apher. 2023.Listeners will also hear what to expect from a TPE treatment at Neuroveda. Each session lasts approximately 2–4 hours, during which blood circulates through a machine that separates and removes plasma while returning the remaining blood components with replacement fluid.Although the procedure may sound invasive, TPE is generally well tolerated and safely performed in outpatient settings. Vital signs are monitored throughout treatment, and most patients experience only mild side effects such as fatigue, lightheadedness, or temporary electrolyte shifts. One unique aspect of Neuroveda's approach is the integration of Ayurvedic medicine with modern therapeutic plasma exchange. Ayurvedic therapies use oils, massage, steam, and other treatments to mobilize lipophilic toxins from deeper tissues back into circulation. Because TPE removes substances circulating in the bloodstream, these therapies may help prepare the body for detoxification. This aligns with Panchakarma, Ayurveda's classical detoxification process, which includes rakta moksha, traditionally translated as “blood liberation.” In a modern context, TPE can be viewed as a technological evolution of this ancient concept.Rather than functioning as a stand-alone cure, TPE is often most effective as part of a comprehensive program that may include functional medicine, regenerative medicine,
Discover the latest findings on basal cell carcinoma presentations across different ethnicities and the role of modifiable risk factors. Essential insights for medical professionals and patients alike. In this episode, we discuss skin health, where a topic that often arises is basal cell carcinoma (BCC), the most common form of skin cancer. With increasing rates of skin cancers noted globally, understanding how BCC presents across different demographics is crucial. In this blog post, we delve into a study that analyzed patterns of BCC presentation using data from the National Institutes of Health's All of Us database, focusing on ethnic differences—such as non-White patients being younger and more likely to have non-facial BCC—and modifiable risk factors like alcohol intake, which showed a dose-dependent increase in facial BCC risk. Explore cutting-edge insights on predicting dysthyroid optic neuropathy (DON), a serious complication of thyroid eye disease. Vital knowledge for clinicians and those affected by thyroid disorders. In this segment, we turn to orbital health, highlighting DON, which impacts 5-8% of thyroid eye disease patients and can lead to vision loss if undetected. Early identification through imaging is key, and this post examines a study evaluating subjective assessments of eight CT features in 258 orbits to predict DON. Key findings emphasize apical crowding as the strongest predictor, alongside extraocular muscle enlargement, vascular congestion, and medial wall bowing, offering practical tools for risk stratification in clinical practice.

Finished your painting and wondering, "now what?" These next steps protect it, professionalize it, and help you actually sell it. So many artists stop at the last brushstroke and miss the steps that turn a finished painting into a sellable asset. In this episode, I break down the exact workflow I use after the painting is dry. We cover the studio basics, and then move into the part most artists forget about: letting people know the painting exists! Because collectors do not buy from "here's a pretty picture." They buy from a connection. They buy a story. And if you hide your prices or make it confusing to purchase, people will assume they can't afford it and keep scrolling. Your painting is finished, but your process isn't. Let's do the next right steps so your art can live in the world, not die in a studio corner. Exposure Ninja Digital Marketing Podcast | SEO, eCommerce, Digital PR, PPC, Web design and CRO
Healthcare marketing is one of the most restrictive, competitive, and trust-sensitive industries on the planet — and it's getting harder. The UK digital health market is growing 12% year on year, which means more competitors, more ad spend, and more budget chasing the same patients and healthcare professionals. But here's the thing: we've been working with healthcare clients at Exposure Ninja for years, and it's actually one of the industries where we've seen some of our best results — from individual clinics all the way to multi-billion dollar global healthcare brands. The reason? A five-part system we call VITAL.In this episode, I break down all five steps and show you exactly what happened when we applied them:• V is for Visibility — 56% of people search Google first for healthcare information. Get your SEO foundation right, and the leads follow. We took one client from 60 to 300 leads per month, spending just 4% of their marketing budget.• I is for Intent Targeting — The secret isn't bidding on the obvious terms. It's targeting the informational searches your competitors are ignoring. We shifted one audiology clinic's strategy and dropped their cost per lead from £60 to £21 — a model so scalable they grew from one clinic to six.• T is for Trust-Building Content — 75% of people engage with medical content weekly, but only 40% trust what they see. Expert-authored, well-referenced content with real case studies is what separates you from generic AI answers.• A is for AI Search Visibility — 1 in 6 adults now use ChatGPT to discuss their health. But Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity all pull from different sources — so your visibility varies wildly across them. Each platform needs its own strategy.• L is for Lifecycle Nurturing — Healthcare email has a 7.31% click-to-open rate, but generic blasts waste it. We segmented one client's list into ten audience streams, built tailored sequences for each, and grew their email revenue by 127%.Whether you're in healthcare or any other competitive service industry, the VITAL framework gives you a proven, repeatable system for generating more leads — at a lower cost — while building the kind of trust that turns visitors into patients and patients into advocates. If you want help building this for your business, request a free digital marketing review from our team: https://exposureninja.com/reviewGet the show notes:https://exposureninja.com/podcast/375/Listen to these episodes next:The BEST SEO Strategies for 2026https://exposureninja.com/podcast/368/How To Dominate AI Search Results in 2026https://exposureninja.com/podcast/372/How To Create High-Converting Contenthttps://exposureninja.com/podcast/374/
Jen Davenport joins Psychedelics Today to interview co-founder Joe Moore about the growth of Psychedelics Today, the broader psychedelic ecosystem, and how professionals are beginning to engage with psychedelic ideas. Davenport is the founder of Iron Thread Partners and a graduate of the Vital psychedelic training program. Her work focuses on executive leadership, decision making, and organizational development. In this conversation she asks Moore about the evolution of Psychedelics Today and the changes he has witnessed across the psychedelic field over the past decade. Moore explains that Psychedelics Today began as a podcast exploring psychedelic research, therapy, and culture. Over time the project expanded into a media and education platform covering psychedelic science, harm reduction, and professional training. The organization now produces podcasts, journalism, courses, and public conversations about psychedelics and their place in modern society. A central part of the discussion is psychedelic integration. Moore notes that insight during a psychedelic experience does not automatically lead to lasting change. The integration process often requires continued work through journaling, meditation, therapy, and community support. These practices help people translate insights into stable changes in behavior and perspective. The conversation also explores policy changes in the United States. Colorado's Natural Medicine framework is creating a regulated system for psychedelic services while the state also maintains a broader decriminalization approach. Moore discusses the tension between regulated access and grassroots psychedelic culture, as well as the questions around accessibility, pricing, and corporate participation. Davenport asks how executives and professionals are approaching psychedelics. In some circles psychedelics are framed as tools for creativity or performance. Moore cautions against this framing. Psychedelics often open difficult personal material and should be approached with care rather than treated as productivity tools. Education remains a recurring theme throughout the episode. As public interest grows, Moore stresses the importance of studying the legal landscape, understanding the scientific literature, and developing responsible practices for preparation and integration. The conversation offers a grounded look at how Psychedelics Today approaches the psychedelic resurgence. Rather than focusing on hype, Moore emphasizes education, safety, and thoughtful engagement with psychedelic experiences.

Propane has powered Olympic kitchens, lifted hot-air balloons across the English Channel and helped turn a quiet patch of southeastern Texas into the center of the NGL universe. It has also had many larger-than-life “wild” characters push the business forward.
In this episode, I speak to an audience of entrepreneurs about how technology is resetting the business landscape, from the rise of AI to the explosion of experiential events and alternative sports. I dive deep into the changing competitive landscape, where the convergence of social, blockchain, and AI is creating new battlegrounds for attention. I stress that building a personal or company brand is the single most important long-term strategy, and I share my belief that the individual person is about to build a billion-dollar corporation. I also answer questions about the future of live shopping, my hiring philosophy, and why I waited years to raise capital for VaynerMedia. Omega-3 fatty acids (particularly EPA and DHA) have a long history in nutrition and cardiovascular medicine, yet the clinical trial literature is often perceived as inconsistent. This episode examines why some randomized trials show clear benefit while others show null or mixed findings, and how differences in trial design, dose, population risk, and outcome selection can materially change what we observe. A key theme is separating (1) the persistent cultural narratives around omega-3s (including origin stories that do not hold up well to modern evidence) from (2) the more precise, mechanistic and clinical questions about where supplemental EPA/DHA may reduce cardiovascular risk. The discussion focuses heavily on understanding heterogeneity: why "omega-3 supplementation" is not a single, uniform exposure, and why subgroup patterns (e.g., secondary prevention, higher baseline triglycerides, and higher doses) may explain much of the apparent conflict in the evidence. Note: This discussion is taken from a previous episode of the podcast. The audio has been remastered and improved, and now study notes and full transcript are available. Romans 11:18-22 — The history of Christianity has witnessed the decline of many churches. In this sermon on Romans 11:18-22, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones attributes such declines to the drift away from true Christianity's vital principle, justification by faith alone. Dr. Lloyd-Jones urges listeners to learn the lessons from history and guard themselves and their churches against falling back into a system of justification by works. Regarding the churches that hold firm to the principle of justification by faith alone, be prepared to be persecuted by those who don't. This tendency has been borne out in church history as evidenced by the persecution inflicted on the true church by the Jews and the also the apostate church. Please note that in a rare departure from customary practice, the original editor of the MLJ Trust recordings decided to include the tail end of the last hymn prior to the commencement of the sermon. This was presumably in order to make sense of Dr Lloyd-Jones's opening admonition to his congregation as to the quality of their singing on that particular Friday evening at Westminster chapel! Bud Weinstein argues that coal remains a vital base load power source for the US grid, noting that while coal's share has dropped to 15-20%, these plants are critical because they operate 24/7, meeting high electricity demands that renewables cannot always satisfy.
