Weight Loss Strategies PodcastFIVE PRIMARY POINTS of the PODCASTVitality Is a Skill* The central lesson from a decade-long exploration of vitality is that vitality is not something we inherit or receive from others—it is a skill that can be learned and strengthened. Physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being can all be intentionally improved through consistent practice and conscious effort.Time Is Your Most Valuable Vitality Asset* Time is a non-renewable resource and should be treated accordingly. Reducing complaints, gossip, distractions, and exposure to “energy vampires” frees up precious time and energy for meaningful pursuits and relationships. Vital people become ruthless about protecting their time.A Clear Purpose Is a Superpower* Defining a personal “peak purpose” provides direction, resilience, and clarity. Purpose serves as a decision-making compass, helping people focus their time, talents, and resources on what matters most while avoiding distractions and minimizing future regret.Make Decisions by Minimizing Future Regret* Most decisions are low-stakes and should be made quickly to avoid decision fatigue. For major decisions, focus on the option most aligned with your purpose and least likely to create future regret. Waiting for perfect information is rarely productive; thoughtful action is usually better than endless analysis.Discipline Creates Freedom* Discipline is portrayed as the pathway to achievement, resilience, and reduced regret. Daily habits such as exercise, meditation, learning, and embracing manageable discomfort build the capacity to stay calm amid uncertainty and transform challenges into opportunities. The ultimate message: discipline today creates freedom tomorrow.Key TakeawayVitality is a gift you give yourself. By mastering the skills of vitality, protecting your time, clarifying your purpose, making decisions that minimize regret, and practicing daily discipline, you can live with greater energy, meaning, performance, and fulfillment.Copyright, VyVerse LLC. Colin Lawlor, CEO of Sleep ai, is focused on exploring sleep intelligence and sleep as a vital sign of health. The Sleep ai platform measures sleep longitudinally using data from consumer wearables and smartphones, with an emphasis on night-to-night variability, which is not captured in a single-night sleep lab. Poor sleep and variation in sleep patterns have been identified as highly predictive indicators of over 130 chronic diseases and have an impact on mental well-being and the effectiveness of medical treatments. Colin explains, "What we're doing is we're measuring sleep longitudinally, over the long term, and we're measuring it from whatever device the consumer has. For some consumers or patients, it may be wearable, and there are many, many different wearables, or for others, it's simply from their phone. We have the ability to collect high-quality sleep data from everyone every day. And that's really important because when we get into this, we'll talk about why longitudinal measurement is really helpful in dealing with sleep challenges themselves, but also in seeing sleep as a window into literally everything to do with our health." "There are several factors going on here. The first one is that globally, four billion people wake up tired almost every day. We do not have, and we will never have, a sufficient number of sleep labs to send all of them for a one-night study. And if we collect data for only one night, we're only getting one picture of how that person is sleeping. But as we all know, life gets in the way. We may have had a stressful day, or we may have had an argument with our significant other. We may be suffering from a cold." "Whatever it is, all of these multiple factors influence sleep. So if we over-rely on one data point to understand what's going on, it's just not sufficient. So what we are finding is that, actually, the variance night to night is probably the most useful and insightful thing we can see. Because when we look at the variance across many nights, we have a much more accurate picture of what's happening with the person's sleep, and that's highly predictive of many, many other conditions, issues, and challenges." #SleepAI #DigitalHealth #SleepAsAVitalSign #ChronicDisease #PopulationHealth #AIinHealthcare #Wearables #LongitudinalData #SleepHealth, #SleepScience sleep.ai Download the transcript here

Your soul is vital, and sometimes, it needs to be reset back to factory settings. Psalm 23 says a good Shepherd has to occasionally lead you to a place where your soul can be restored, a place of green pastures, still waters, and lying down. Why does a soul need restoring? Because you may have to walk through seasons of grief, have people who hurt you or just generally get beat up by the trials of life. Proverbs 4:23 — another famous verse — tells us to guard our hearts and says that it determines the course of your life. Biblically, your heart is your soul, which encompasses your mind, will, and emotions. If it is so important, why does the church only talk about saving souls rather than guarding or restoring souls? This week, we’re starting a new series about mental health called It Is Well With My Soul.

Harvard Professor Dr. JoAnn Manson reveals the final results of the VITAL trial: a landmark study on Vitamin D, telomeres, and disease prevention. Is Vitamin D the most underrated molecule in longevity science? Dr. JoAnn Manson, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and lead investigator of the massive VITAL trial, joins us to present groundbreaking new data. We move past the traditional focus on bone health to explore how 2,000 IU of Vitamin D preserves telomere length, effectively slowing biological aging by three years. Dr. Manson discusses the 22% reduction in autoimmune diseases and the 17% reduction in advanced metastatic cancers found within the 25,000-participant study. We also tackle the "BMI Gap", the critical reason why Vitamin D benefits are often blunted in certain populations, and the importance of the Vitamin D/Omega-3 synergy. This conversation provides a definitive clinical roadmap for anyone using these supplements to extend their healthspan. Rooted in gold-standard randomized controlled trial data, this is an essential update on the science of aging well.MEDICAL DISCLAIMER: Modern Healthspan provides reports on peer-reviewed longevity research. We do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The clinical findings presented by Dr. JoAnn Manson from the VITAL trial are for informational use only. Please see your physician before starting 2,000 IU of Vitamin D or any other supplement protocol.
Welcome to episode #1039 of Thinking With Mitch Joel (formerly Six Pixels of Separation). I believe that communication has always been one of the most valuable skills in business. But in an era of AI-generated content, algorithmic feeds, podcasts, newsletters, keynote stages, short-form video and endless digital noise, it may be becoming even more important. Few people have spent more time studying what makes ideas resonate than Carmine Gallo. A communication coach, author, and instructor in executive education at Harvard, Carmine is best known for bestselling books including Talk Like TED, The Storyteller's Secret, The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs and many more. His latest project, Viral Voices - From TED Talks To TikTok, Persuasive Communication Skills For The Digital Age, is an audio-original experience that explores what great communicators can teach us about influence, storytelling, and audience engagement in a rapidly changing media landscape. In this conversation, Carmine argues that while the tools of communication have evolved dramatically, the human brain has not. Drawing on research from neuroscience, psychology, evolutionary biology, and his conversations with communicators ranging from business leaders to digital creators, he explains why storytelling remains one of humanity's most powerful technologies. The discussion explores why movement captures attention, why narrative structures continue to dominate modern platforms, and why great communicators are made through deliberate practice rather than born with natural talent. Carmine also shares his AMP framework for communication improvement: Ability, Message, and Practice. Along the way, the conversation examines the opportunities and challenges created by AI, including the growing tension between polished machine-generated content and authentic human expression. At a moment when everyone has access to powerful communication tools, Carmine makes a compelling case that imagination, personal experience, and genuine human insight are becoming the ultimate differentiators. Enjoy the conversation… Running time: 1:00:47. Hello from beautiful Montreal. Listen and subscribe over at Apple Podcasts. Listen and subscribe over at Spotify. In honor of Pride Month, the OneHaas Alumni Podcast is pleased to welcome Lucas Chagas Vital to the show. Lucas is a graduate of the full-time MBA program and a principal in corporate strategy and development for Intuit. For Lucas, growing up gay in Sao Paolo, Brazil wasn't always easy. He knew he was gay from a young age, but between attending conservative catholic schools and starting his career in the conservative banking world of Brazil from over a decade ago, he worried he wouldn't be accepted if he came out at work. So he set out to find a more welcoming and accepting culture for LGBTQ people, and found one at Berkeley Haas. On this episode, Lucas joins host Sean Li to talk about his childhood in Sao Paolo, his fulfilling experience with Q@Haas as co-president, and how he's continued that advocacy work since then through inclusion programs at Intuit and other workplaces. *OneHaas Alumni Podcast is a production of Haas School of Business and is produced by University FM.*Episode Quotes:On his decision to leave Brazil for the U.S. ”So I was not out in the work place. I grew up attending a Catholic school and a Catholic university. And even though I was out earlier than many back then, because I came out in junior high school, I was gay-bashed with my two lesbians friends, so there were a lot of stories of coming out and being back in the closet and getting discriminated against and working through that. And when I learned more about the difference of the reality here, at least 10 years ago, that was one of the things that motivated me a lot, right?”On the work that still needs to be done for LGBTQ rights ”Our rights should never be taken for granted, right? Because the LGBTQ+ rights and any other minority rights, they can be lost at any time… Definitely as a cisgender gay man, I acknowledge the better privilege that we have when we compare with the transgender population, right? They are in the front. They are the ones who have so much more attacks and hate and we're hearing more and more right now. So how can we be an ally for that?”On celebrating Pride“ Thinking about the Pride month ahead of us, I feel that Pride Month, it's not only for fun and parties. I think Pride Month, it's how we got here, right? …I remember when I got here in the US and I was so excited with all the Pride initiatives, and I used to hear a lot of complaints of people saying, "Oh, but there is so much corporate all around."And I said, "Yeah, but the first Prides, most of the early Prides actually that I went to in Brazil, we didn't have any corporate support, and we did not have that much visibility. We didn't have that much support, and we had to hide a lot" So there are positive things that we can think about how far we got here”On his time with Q@Haas“ I spent most of my time at Haas, apart from recruiting, at Q@Haas. So we had a very active group of people…So we organized many events…one event was called Not Your Gay Best Friend, to help break all the stereotypes of just being “the gay best friend”, which for me was very interesting as well because it was also a very American culture thing to learn. And then of course, the Coming Out Week, which was a big event. The Coming Out Monologues was actually my first time telling my coming out story to a big audience, and in English.”Show Links:LinkedIn ProfileQ@Haas

I sat down with Dr. Courtney Conley and what she told me stopped me cold…your walking speed can predict dementia up to seven years before the first cognitive symptom appears, which is why scientists are arguing it should be added to blood pressure and temperature as the sixth vital sign. We got into the mechanism behind it: BDNF, hippocampal neurogenesis, and why 4,000 steps a day can cut dementia risk by roughly 50% and I walked away convinced this is the most under-prescribed medicine of the 21st century. As the longtime archrivals clash for the first time in 2026 with a weekend series at Busch Stadium, here is what the scuffling Cardinals and struggling Cubs share in common. They both got to this point thanks to the Brewers. The Cubs arrive in St. Louis fresh off ending a 10-game losing streak that yanked them from first place in the National League Central to last place, and the Cardinals slide home after being swept in Milwaukee. They've lost six of their past eight games against division foes. With both teams separated percentage points going into their first series of the season, this is a pivotal weekend for at least one of them. Patrick Mooney, longtime Cubs beat writer and senior writer at The Athletic, joins the Best Podcast in Baseball to discuss how the Cubs could go from the high highs of two 10-game winning streaks this season to the current questions at the end of a 10-game plummet. Along with BPIB host Derrick Goold, Monney discusses the Cubs' pitching injuries and limited depth, their center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, and the manager Craig Counsell and his sense of humor behind some stoic answers. For the Cardinals, this series is their first time back since "tarps off" and a chance to play in front of huge, lively crowds -- and sell them on returning. The writers also discuss what these longtime rivals, the Cubs and Cardinals, share in common. They're both chasing Milwaukee. More Post-Dispatch podcasts. Please consider subscribing. In its 14th season as one of the first and most widely heard podcasts on baseball and the Cardinals, the Best Podcast in Baseball has reached a new season-high with 30 episodes. Each episode is sponsored weekly by Closets by Design of St. Louis, is a production of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, StlToday.com, and lead baseball writer Derrick Goold.
