Gina Nelson is a young South African developer who became enamoured with the computer game industry and quickly decided that this was the career for her. After working with local game dev company ‘Luma Arcade’, Gina set off to the UK to seek her fortune, and has landed the role of Art Lead for London games studio ‘The Secret Police’ - a company that comes with some impressive credentials.In late 2017, Gina, as part of the ‘The Secret Police’ team, launched their first game: 'Dragon's Watch' - a fantasy RPG game with over 700 heroes to collect and evolve through multiple levels as you attempt to rescue dragons in order to save the kingdom. Back in May this year, GeekXP managed to secure a pre-screening session of X-Men Apocalypse, and the Variants Cover team were there to enjoy the movie. Of course, being the comics fans we are, we had to sit down and dissect it, and there are some very strong feelings around the content of the movie, its relationship to canon and plenty of discussions about the X-Men cartoons.

With rAge Expo just around the corner, GeekXP is going to look at a number of facets around gaming in South Africa, particularly around eSports. Our first topic underdiscussion is shoutcasting - the commentating of eSports games such as DOTA 2 and CS:GO. This week's interview is with Shaun Murrell, better known as Profeci, who shoutcasts DOTA 2 matches for nAvTv. Shaun was gracious enough to join us for this discussion and we talked about all manner of things including Shaun's path to geekdom, how he got into gaming and found his way to shoutcasting.

During a podcast networking event at #GenCon2016, GeekXP fell in with Katie and Dave from 'Anonymous Tabletop'. We managed to scrape together some time later in the day to chat about their paths to geekdom, how they came to be part of the 'Anonymous Tabletop' podcast, and they helped clarify why the Cubs are so much better than the Sox. There is also a small discussion on Indiana's seasonal vegetables.
