Long Lake in Union County, South Carolina. She claimed to have been carjacked while driving her 2 young sons, Michael and Alexander, who were taken along with the car. This escalated the situation and quickly, not only the County was called in to help on this case, but the FBI and the Adam Walsh Foundation. Media attention on this case spread like rapid fire, where was the car and, more importantly, where were the kids?!? Susan Smith tells an unlikely story and then changes her story of the events of that evening. Susan Vaughn Smith won't be winning any awards fo mother of the year. She was convicted of murdering her two children, three-year-old Michael and 14-month-old Alexander. On October 25, 1994, Smith reported to police that her vehicle had been carjacked with her sons still inside. For nine days, she made dramatic pleas on national television for the boys' safe return. However, following an intensive investigation and a nationwide search for her children, she confessed on November 3, 1994 to letting her car roll into nearby John D. Long Lake, drowning them inside.
