Fisher House Chairman & CEO Ken Fisher is carrying on the wonderful program first created by his great uncle Zachary Fisher. To date, the Fisher House has provided support to over 430,000 military and Veteran families in the form of free lodging and travel. Neither Ken nor Zachary served in the military. But when Zach heard the USS Intrepid was going to be scrapped he led an initiative to have the ship preserved and converted to a museum that hosts over 1 million guests a year. Shortly thereafter he received a phone call from Pauline Trost, wife of the then Chief of Naval Operations. She witnessed a family arriving at Bethesda Naval Medical Center and, knowing the average cost of hotel rooms in the area, wondered where this family was going to stay while visiting their injured loved one. As a very successful builder, Zach had the solution. He and his wife dedicated more than $20 million to the construction of the first Fisher House. The foundation is now “on the road” to building their 100th home. The homes provide no cost lodging to families of ill or injured Veterans and are built with easy access to Veterans Administration hospitals. Homes can be as large as 21 suites and provide both privacy and communal spaces. A very powerful element of these homes is that every family understands what the other is going through and provides a natural support system. Other Fisher House programs include “Hero Miles” which provide free airfare using donated frequent flyer miles and “Hotels for Heroes” which provides free hotel rooms in areas where no Fisher House has been built. Listeners are encouraged to donate their frequent traveler bonuses in support of these families. TAKEAWAY: “There are sacrifices being made on our behalf and behind every person in uniform there is a family. The American people should never think that just saying thank you is enough.”
Neither Ken nor Kurt have every been in Ye Old Mill....besides the kissing, what's going on in there?
Kenneth Ameduri joined us for a discussion about the economy. He like so many are amazed at the power of Trump's policies and rapid difference they have made in the economy and around the world. He's still concerned about the debt and over-laden public and private pension plans, and is confident that there will have to be a day of reckoning. But for now, it's clear skies ahead. The Cannabis industry is taking off and there's nothing Jeff Sessions can do about, or should for that matter says Ken. It's hit critical mass and there's no stopping it. Todays infant companies could be tomorrow's multi-billion dollar brands, so keep watching the sector for opportunities like the one's we've brought to you in the past. Finally, Bitcoin, will it ever come back. Neither Ken or myself were at all surprised by the crypto-crash. In an industry where 80 percent of the ICO's (Initial Coin Offerings) were pure fraud, who can be surprised. But at some point they'll come back and another Crypto will unseat Bitcoin.

I’ve done a lot of radio interviews, but I don’t enjoy any of them as much as I enjoy the never-ending banter between myself and Ken Adams at KRDU. I posted an MP3 of an interview with Ken last year, and it was the 5th most popular MP3 of the year. What’s different this year? Neither Ken or myself held back! Topics include: 1. Why I started the podcast 2. Faulty pro-life arguments 3. Does my show ever offend pro-lifers? 4. Does it bothers me when it does? 5. What does it mean practically to be an ambassador for Christ? 6. How did we make the transition to broadcast television? 7. How can religious TV broadcasting become more youth friendly? 8. How can we sum up the pro-life position in 10 seconds? 9. Should we use Bible verses during conversations with atheists about abortion and stem cell research? 10. How did turning the podcast into a TV series change the show?
