In this episode of the Fingal's Cave Podcast, we take a deeper look into the second part of the live and studio career of Roger Waters, beginning in 1999 with his return to touring “In The Flesh” after a 12 year hiatus.Guests Mike McCartney, Nils Zehnpfennig and Adam S. recount their experiences attending several Roger Waters shows between 1999 & 2008, as well as provide insights to what it was like being a fan in the Pink Floyd community at the time. It was fans taping soundchecks and holding up banners to "play the new song" which encouraged him to premiere a brand new track, Each Small Candle, at the last show on his 1999 tour; a song regarded as one of his finest works.Roger's creative output between 1999 to 2008 doesn't often correlate with his large scale tours, but many of these smaller gigs or studio tracks demonstrate Roger's continued prowess as a lyricist and musician, always employing the use of his touring or studio players in effective ways. You won't want to miss these insights into Roger's solo career during this period.
Declaring independence on July 2, 1776 was only the beginning. To actually become a nation, the United States needed something else: foreign allies, international recognition, and the credibility to negotiate as an equal among the world's great powers. Five days after Richard Henry Lee introduced his famous Virginia Resolution, the Continental Congress appointed a committee of five — John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Dickinson, Robert Morris, and Benjamin Harrison — to figure out how to achieve international recognition. The result was the Model Treaty: a document we almost never discuss today, but one that Adams considered his most important contribution to Congress and the nation. Historians Sara Georgini and Eliga Gould guide us through Adams's revolutionary blueprint for American foreign policy and how the founders understood that the United States would need to become a "treaty worthy" nation before France would take them seriously. Shane Beamer's rump roasts on the hot seat. Even he admits it. South Carolina's coach acknowledged his hot-seat status in a recent interview with the Greenville News. He's not the only SEC coach on the hot seat, although the coaching carousel projects to be quieter this season, after six SEC schools hired a new coach last year. On today's episode, hosts Blake Toppmeyer and John Adams list five SEC coaches on the hot seat. Beamer tops the list, but another coach coming off a losing season isn't far behind. Two coaches at premier SEC jobs claim spots on the hot-seat list, too, despite the fact that they have playoff appearances on their resume. Toppmeyer and Adams also each offer a wild-card contender for the hot seat.

Episode 4154 │ June 21, 2026 The colonists saw King George as Pharaoh and themselves as the new Israel. The Declaration of Independence was their petition to the courts of heaven. WHAT THIS EPISODE COVERS Scott Kesterson and Rochelle Porto continue the Our Sacred Honor series with a timeline correction and deep dive into the summer of 1775 — mapping the simultaneous congressional actions of the Second Continental Congress against the Battle of Bunker Hill, the Olive Branch Petition, the Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms, and King George III's Proclamation for Suppressing Rebellion and Sedition, showing how these events were happening in parallel across a six-to-eight week information delay between the continents that the strategic minds of the era — particularly Adams — were already calculating and playing through. The episode surfaces a major understudied intelligence thread: Charleston Mechanics intercepting British correspondence that proved Superintendent of Indian Affairs John Stuart was actively weaponizing Creek and Cherokee nations as a second military front against the southern colonies — intelligence that destroyed Stuart's ability to operate from Charleston, forced him to flee to Florida, and gave Georgia Patriots the decisive argument that neutrality was no longer viable. The episode closes with a reading of Psalm 80 — the same passage Jacob Duché read to the Continental Congress — as the founding generation's own declaration that they understood themselves as the new Israel petitioning the courts of heaven, a framework that completely inverts the modern Zionist political theology being imposed on the 250th anniversary. KEY QUESTIONS ADDRESSED (3 bullets hard cap) How were the Olive Branch Petition and the Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms sent one day apart — and what does that simultaneous dual track reveal about the real strategic thinking behind the colonial leadership? What did the Charleston Mechanics discover about British Superintendent John Stuart's covert operation to weaponize Native nations against the southern colonies — and how did that intelligence change Georgia's position toward independence? Why did the Continental Congress read Psalm 80 and cast themselves as the new Israel with King George as Pharaoh — and what does that theological framework reveal about who our founding fathers actually were? Clay welcomes one of his favorite guests, Dr. Lindsay Chervinsky, to talk about America at 250. Many Americans are bewildered and frightened by the current state of the Union, unsure how things got so partisan and paralyzed. Instead of offering our personal opinions on the current crisis, we, as historians, attempt to contextualize the present moment within the broad sweep of American history, beginning, of course, with the Founding Fathers. What would Adams and Jefferson say about the world of 2026? Would they be disappointed with us? And what would they urge us to reform as we move forward into the next fifty, one hundred, and two hundred fifty years? And Clay asked Lindsay to point to the Golden Age of American life. You may be surprised by her answer.

Molly Beer. Guest Molly Beer follows the family to Europe, where John Carter reclaims his identity as John Barker Church. Settling in London's Mayfair, Angelica navigated high society while remaining a fierce American patriot. Beer highlights Angelica's role as a social bridge, hosting luminaries like Lafayette and the Adams family. She became part of the "blue stocking" movement, a circle of highly educated women. Beer emphasizes that Angelica's social intelligence was instrumental in maintaining crucial international alliances, proving that making peace was as vital as making war. 3
Episode 4153 │ June 21, 2026 Happy Father's Day! Esau's birthright was stolen by Jacob. In 1948 Esau returned pretending to be Jacob to take it back. Scripture called it. WHAT THIS EPISODE COVERS Scott Kesterson and Brad Cummings deliver one of the most theologically and historically dense episodes of Digging Into the Word yet — tracing the straight line from William Penn's founding vision of "let's see what love can do" through the first and second Great Awakenings, the Scofield Bible, the Rothschild-backed Balfour Declaration, and the deliberate naming of the 1948 state as Israel rather than Judea — arguing that Christian Zionism is not a biblical position but a 19th century theological construct engineered by oligarchs to co-opt evangelical Christianity into geopolitical service. Brad Cummings unpacks the Jacob and Esau inheritance law, explaining that God's promise to restore Esau's stolen birthright is actually the biblical framework for understanding why the modern state exists — and why God is allowing it — while making clear this has nothing to do with the unconditional chosen-people theology that has captured the American church. The episode closes on the covenant simplicity that Penn embodied and Adams was moved by: there is no way forward for this nation that does not begin with returning to the living God — not as a religious proposition, but as the only king the republic was ever designed to have. KEY QUESTIONS ADDRESSED What is the biblical case that the modern state of Israel represents Esau's restored birthright — and why does calling it Israel rather than Judea matter theologically and geopolitically? How did the Rothschild-backed Scofield Bible, dispensational theology, and Oxford Press combine to manufacture Christian Zionism as a tool of oligarchic geopolitical design — and who paid the preachers? What did William Penn's founding vision of Pennsylvania as "let's see what love can do" establish as the seed of the American covenant — and how do we return to it from where we are now? Cindy Adams delivers a humorous and irreverent monologue that blends cultural commentary with a signature New York attitude. She navigates through a wide range of topics, beginning with a satirical critique of modern Father's Day traditions and transitioning into a spirited reflection on American diversity and national identity as July 4th approaches. The broadcast features a candid interview with professional golfer David Chatfield, where Adams uses her unapologetic lack of sports knowledge to probe the eccentricities of the game and its players. Adams concludes the show by critiquing the media's obsession with deceased celebrities and offering a playful tutorial on household spices, ultimately serving her purpose of providing fast-paced, personality-driven entertainment to her listeners. A city changes a bylaw, two parks get added to a no-camping list, and suddenly the real question isn't “is this fair?” but “who has the legal power to decide?” We walk through a fresh BC Supreme Court decision on Victoria's park camping restrictions, including why the court treats the amendment as legislation, not a mere policy tweak. That single classification reshapes the whole case: instead of weighing reasonableness, the court asks whether the City has authority under the Community Charter to pass the bylaw at all and answers yes. We also dig into the Charter section 7 backdrop from the 2009 Adams decision, where a blanket prohibition can become unconstitutional if there aren't enough shelter spaces and people are forced to sleep outside. The ruling doesn't end the broader homelessness and public space debate, but it clarifies what needs to be proven and by whom. A “free-floating” challenge without an affected person is a tough fit, while a future case with evidence of no realistic place to shelter could bring the constitutional issue back in a concrete way. Then we pivot to two fast, practical legal lessons. First, the BC Court of Appeal orders a new trial in a sexual assault case after the trial judge relied on prior consistent statements, a common credibility trap where repetition gets mistaken for proof. Finally, the Supreme Court of Canada interprets Charter section 16(2) on New Brunswick's official languages and holds that appointing a unilingual lieutenant governor breaches the Charter, with implications for how we think about bilingualism and constitutional offices. If you found this useful, subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave us a review. What part of these rulings should Canadians be paying more attention to?Follow this link for a transcript of the show and links to the cases discussed.

Romance novels—especially historical romance novels—thrive on heroes and heroines who don't match in terms of social class. There must be conflict, after all, or the novel would end before it began. But not even George Bernard Shaw's mismatched couple in Pygmalion (later My Fair Lady) can claim quite as much distance as Shana Galen's Tamsin Archer and the Honourable Garret Kildare, the main characters in A Shop Girl's Guide to Wooing a Lord (Berkley, 2026). Tamsin's once comfortable if never opulent life took a sharp downward turn when a Royal Navy press gang hauled her father off to unwanted service on a seagoing vessel, service from which he never returned. By 1813, when we meet her at age twenty-three, she's doing her best to support her injured mother and two much younger siblings by selling flowers in the street. A young man named Garret speaks kindly to her and pays her a shilling when she's expecting far less, and as a result she remembers him fondly, but it's not until two years later that she meets him again. By then, a chimney sweep has taken her younger siblings and holds them hostage to payments she can never make and that he might not honor even if she did. She's desperate to get them back. In 1815, Garret's life also makes a dramatic turn. His father, the Earl of Glenister, announces that the family has run out of money and must sell its ancestral lands in Ireland. Not exactly poverty, especially by Tamsin's standards, but still uncomfortable. Garret and his three brothers—Liam, Killian, and Daire—make a bet that one of them will secure the hand of an heiress, thus sparing their younger sister, Mariah, from having to marry an elderly and decrepit duke. But as Garret sets out to woo his heiress, he encounters Tamsin somewhere she's not supposed to be … Shana Galen, a former English teacher, has written more than fifty romances. What actually happens inside the IVF lab can have a major impact on embryo development, genetic testing results, and ultimately your chances of IVF success. I'm pulling back the curtain on how embryologists evaluate embryos, what makes one embryo more likely to succeed than another, and how the timing of biopsy, freezing, and embryo development can influence outcomes. We also tackle common questions, including whether a day 6 blastocyst is something to worry about and what patients should know about embryo grading and PGT-A testing. Declaring independence on July 2, 1776, was only the beginning. Historians Sara Georgini and Eliga Gould guide us through Adams's revolutionary blueprint for American foreign policy and the founders' understanding that the United States would need to become a "treaty-worthy" nation before France would take it seriously. This is the second episode in a three-part series. And with the first pick of the "SEC Football Unfiltered" quarterbacks draft ... Yes, it's that time of the offseason. But, who's first off the board? On today's episode, hosts Blake Toppmeyer and John Adams each draft four SEC quarterbacks as they try to outduel the other. Once a player comes off the board, the other host cannot select him. With the first pick, Adams eyes a proven starter with playoff experience. All of Toppmeyer's picks are returning starters in the SEC, while Adams reaches for a couple of transfers, and he twists the knife with his final pick.
On today's episode, blends her signature caustic wit with high-profile interviews to offer a gritty, unfiltered look at New York life and celebrity culture. Adams begins by sharply critiquing the history of New York City mayors, juxtaposing the legacies of figures like LaGuardia and Bloomberg against her disdain for the current administration. The program transitions into an interview with actor and former model Colin Egglesfield, exploring the superficiality and unspoken hierarchies of the fashion industry while touching on themes of aging and wellness. Finally, the show takes a somber turn as Adams details a personal conversation with Wendy Williams, revealing the former talk show host's struggle with cognitive impairment and her confinement within a locked care facility. SCHEDULE JOHN BATCHELOR SHOW, 6-5-2026.1900 ADAMS BOULEVARD LA. Jeff Bliss highlights the stark contrast between Seattle's controlled homelessness and the pervasive crisis in Los Angeles. The discussion transitions to California's jungle primary, where late-arriving ballots in the Los Angelesmayoral race show statistically improbable gains for Karen Bass and Nithya Raman, fueling accusations of election irregularities. Jeff Bliss previews the opening of a massive, multi-story In-N-Out Burger in Las Vegas, predicting it will become a celebrity destination similar to Hollywood's historic clubs or New York's Stork Club. He also reflects on a rare 1955 invitation from Walt Disney, noting its role in establishing Disneyland's enduring cultural legacy. Richard Epstein examines the 14th Amendment's opening clause, distinguishing the robust rights of citizens from the conditional privileges of aliens. He argues that naturalization was historically a federal prerogative, noting that early statutes, influenced by Thomas Jefferson, included explicit racial exclusions for persons of African or Asiandescent. Richard Epstein disputes the "plain meaning" application to the 14th Amendment, arguing that "subject to the jurisdiction" requires natural allegiance rather than mere physical presence. Critiquing the Wong Kim Ark ruling, he suggests that children of legal permanent aliens should inherit their parents' status rather than automatic citizenship. Jim McTague reports on the cautious economic sentiment in Lancaster County, where despite falling gas prices, consumers remain budget-conscious. While tourism remains strong at venues like the Sight and Sound Theatre, local officials recently rejected a proposed data center in Columbia due to technicalities and concerns over its utility. Lorenzo Fiori provides an optimistic update on Italy's economy, noting improved employment rates across various demographics. He highlights a landmark legislative shift toward nuclear energy, with small plants planned by 2034. For travelers, he recommends San Miniato, a strategic, less-crowded Tuscan village famous for its white beans. Bob Zimmerman dismisses NASA's sheltering orders on the ISS as an overreaction to routine Russian repair work on the Zvezda module. He details SpaceX's massive IPO, which aims to raise billions, and observes that private space station firms like Axiom and Vast continue to secure significant capital despite SpaceX's market dominance. Bob Zimmerman surveys global spaceport developments, contrasting Spain's investment in French Guiana with the liquidation of the UK's Sutherland facility due to red tape. He debunks claims that the interstellar comet 3I/Atlas is an alien craft and notes that unpredictable sunspot activity continues to defy scientific models. Andrew Bayliss recounts how Pericles provoked the Peloponnesian War by steering Athens toward confrontation with Sparta. He details the Athenian strategy of retreating behind city walls and relying on naval imports, a move that tragically facilitated a devastating plague, claiming thousands of lives, including Pericleshimself. Andrew Bayliss profiles Lysander, a Spartan general of modest origins who secured crucial Persian funding to challenge Athenian naval supremacy. Lysander achieved victory not through direct combat, but by using deception to capture the Athenian fleet while the crews were uncharacteristically casual and off their ships. Andrew Bayliss explores the aftermath of Sparta's victory, noting that Lysander's immense power and ambition ultimately led to his death during a failed siege. Sparta's dominance eventually collapsed at the Battle of Leuctradue to a dwindling citizen population, reducing the once-mighty superpower to a minor village. Andrew Bayliss critiques the modern application of the "Thucydides Trap" to US-China relations, arguing that the original Peloponnesian War was not inevitable. He suggests the conflict was precipitated by specific provocations and accidental circumstances, drawing parallels to the circumstantial outbreak of the First World War. Henry Sokolski warns of China's fast breeder reactor program, which produces super weapons-grade plutonium capable of fueling efficient nuclear triggers. He also notes South Korea's growing interest in developing independent nuclear capabilities and submarines to counter threats from North Korea and China, despite international non-proliferation standards. Henry Sokolski explains the strategic significance of deploying Dual Capable Aircraft (DCA), such as the F-35, to reinforce NATO's nuclear deterrent in Europe. He observes that while Moscow and Beijing oppose these deployments, the aircraft act as vital "glue" for alliances, ensuring that American nuclear guarantees remain credible. Richard Epstein analyzes the Wong Kim Ark decision, arguing that Justice Horace Gray erroneously applied birthright citizenship to the children of ineligible aliens. He further critiques the expansion of the Equal Protection Clause in the 20th century, claiming it was originally intended for criminal matters rather than civil benefits. Richard Epstein discusses the legal complexities of a proposed executive order to end birthright citizenship for children of illegal aliens. He highlights the rise of "manufactured citizenship" through birth tourism and predicts the Supreme Court may eventually distinguish between transient visitors and those seeking permanent residency.
