I went to Arizona to help out with my sister-in-law Amber's family because their 4 year old Elsie was diagnosed with cancer in December. A woman came over one night and she was talking to Amber at the door and she said something that really struck me. She said, "Amber what you are going through is a long hard not a short hard." Sometimes in life we go through a trial, affliction or tribulation that is long hard or short hard. Join me today as I share some thoughts about long HARDS and short HARDS. "hard is the constant! We all have challenges. The variable is our reaction to the hard.” Stanley G Ellis “one's life … cannot be both faith-filled and stress-free.” It simply will not work “to glide naively through life,” saying as we sip another glass of lemonade, “Lord, give me all thy choicest virtues, but be certain not to give me grief, nor sorrow, nor pain, nor opposition. Please do not let anyone dislike me or betray me, and above all, do not ever let me feel forsaken by Thee or those I love. In fact, Lord, be careful to keep me from all the experiences that made Thee divine. And then, when the rough sledding by everyone else is over, please let me come and dwell with Thee, where I can boast about how similar our strengths and our characters are as I float along on my cloud of comfortable Christianity.” Neal A Maxwell bethnewellcoaching.com bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com

Elder Stanley G. Ellis
Elder Stanley G. Ellis teaches of our need to trust in God in difficult times.
In this week's episode we hear from Karly as she fills us in on the rest of her infertility journey up to today. She shares about the second, and third rounds of IVF that she endured and the outcomes that followed. Despite the challenges life seems to throw at us, Karly shares how she strives to always find something to be grateful for: supportive friends and family, a cute dog Sox, her faith and the future. Being cautiously optimistic sometimes means being okay with not knowing what comes next-or when that next step comes. It is so very true in life that "Hard is the constant...the variable is our reaction to the hard." -Stanley G. Ellis
