Raamattu kehottaa meitä olemaan tietoisia vihollisen juonista (2. Today, I’m sitting down with Dr. Richard Tedeschi, he's the bloke who literally coined the term post-traumatic growth, and ya'll know that's a massive part of what this show is all about! We’re pulling apart what resilience really means (and what it definitely doesn’t), why the ‘just do more hard things’ mantra can actually miss the point, and how sometimes what looks like strength is just unprocessed survival mode. We talk about why real growth usually kicks off when life punches you square in the face... and how it’s the people around you (not the size of the fight) that can change everything. From navigating trauma, grief and burnout to finding purpose and connection this one’s a ripping listen for anyone who's ever been stuck, struggling, or simply ready to step-up from the battleground. Pain is not optional, but could it be meaningful? In the newest Hard Stuff episode, we talk about suffering: why it's been part of Christianity from the very beginning, and why the Western church often skips straight to the resurrection, forgetting the weight of the cross. What does it mean to follow Jesus in a comfort-driven world? And how do we respond when we pray for healing, but don't see it? Guests Lukas Ablidsten and Matias Toivainen join Samu to talk about finding God in the middle of pain, seeing love that bears all things, and asking: what do we actually gain through suffering?
In this week's episode of Your Best Day Yet, Chief Victory Officer, Eric Guy, sits down with long-time friend and executive coach, Tim Yeager. Tim opens up about his personal transformation — from feeling stuck in life and leadership to embracing a growth mindset through deep self-awareness and emotional intelligence work. Together, Eric and Tim unpack the uncomfortable but powerful journey of personal responsibility, conscious leadership, and how doing the inner work can unlock your highest potential.Takeaways: ✅ Choose Growth Over Comfort – Tim shares how the most transformational moments came when he leaned into discomfort instead of avoiding it.✅ Awareness is Everything – Becoming conscious of how you're showing up in relationships, leadership, and everyday life is the first step toward meaningful change.✅ Victim vs. Creator Mindset – Tim and Eric talk about breaking free from blame and instead owning your experience — and your power to change it.✅ The Hard Stuff is the Good Stuff – Emotional work isn't easy, but it's necessary. Tim encourages leaders to sit in the “muck” rather than numb or avoid it.✅ Live Intentionally – Whether it's how you respond to stress or how you lead your team, intentionality is the key to creating a life and legacy you're proud of.More of Tim: https://culturecures.com/Sign up for an AMP trip: https://centerforvictory.kartra.com/page/9Gn85

If you're in a tough season, this message will help you lean on God even when it's hard.

Here are some of the things we talked about in today's podcast: · Transformation starts from the neck up. · Fear of failure often prevents people from starting. · Failure is a natural part of success, while quitting is not. · No one cares about your decisions as much as you think. · Commitment requires ongoing effort beyond the initial decision. · Maintenance of habits is easier than the initial growth phase. · Your identity can change over time; you are not fixed. · Obstacles can serve as valuable lessons for future success. · Learning to say no is essential for prioritizing what matters. · Self-awareness is key to understanding and overcoming past influences. Extreme success comes with extreme sacrifice. · Balance is found between selfishness and selflessness. · Communication is crucial in family dynamics. · If you can't reduce negativity, remove it completely. · Being present improves mental health and connections. · Life is too short to tolerate negativity. · And much more. Settle in, listeners. Jen and Amy have invited Greek and New Testament professor and scholar, Reverend Dr. Angela N. Parker to the show to reflect on the Advent season with some words of hope and liberation. She took our butts to seminary, opening our eyes to what it looks like when you examine the scripture through the lens of womanist theology and the experiences of Black women. But as Dr. Parker tells us, “I've lived long enough to know that God will bring me through but sometimes it's hard and sometimes it hurts. But even after the hurt, the tender spots get more resilient.” There's so much to unpack in this one. Jen and Amy discuss their favorite Christmas movies and debate whether classics like Gremlins and Die Hard fit the genre Dr. Parker explains how liberation is a collective journey, not an individual one – and how everyone, including white men, can need it. We learn how understanding the historical context of scripture is vital for its interpretation. And we also talk about some of the holiday hullabaloo we're ready to Bless and Release this season. *** Thought-provoking Quotes: “If I'm liberated, I don't want to be liberated alone.” – Dr. Angela N. Parker “We don't want to think about the early church being enslavers.” – Dr. Angela N. Parker “If our biblical text is wrestling with the idea of empire from Genesis to Revelation, we are wrestling with empire as well.” –– Dr. Angela N. Parker “When we work as a collective, we actually do better to transform society.” – Dr. Angela N. Parker “The tree at the end of Revelation 21 has the leaves for the healing of all the “Ethnae”, for all the ethnicities, for all the nations. That's what John the Revelator sees in his final vision.” – Dr. Angela N. Parker “In my own work, I talk about how I try to even get whiteness out of me. Even as an African American woman born and raised in these United States, there are elements of whiteness that are in me, on me and a part of me. That's just what we swim in.” – Dr. Angela N. Parker “Hope breaks forth in the midst of terror, fear, and overwhelm. It's normal to have [those feelings]. Don't trick yourself into ignoring them. It's best for us to acknowledge what is going on around us but to remember that hope breaks through.” – Dr. Angela N. Parker “I've lived long enough to know that God will bring me through but sometimes it's still hard and sometimes it still hurts. But even after the hurt, the tender spots get more resilient.” – Dr. Angela N. In this episode, Steph discusses the importance of embracing hard things in life as a pathway to building resilience and confidence. She emphasizes that these qualities are not innate but cultivated through doing hard things. We have all had experiences that felt challenging in life, but in looking back, led to tremendous growth. The conversation also touches on the fear of the unknown and the human tendency to seek comfort, urging listeners to choose the hard paths that lead to long-term fulfillment over instant gratification.

This week, we're going to build entrepreneurial resilience: the ability to just keep going when things go wrong.Listen to this episode, and then visit the Daily Directives section at BusinessIsGood.com to complete daily exercises for resilience all week.I'm Chris Cooper, and today I'm discussing strategies for overcoming adversity in business. Setbacks are inevitable, but they can be managed by spreading them out over time and making them less impactful. I've found that taking a long-term view, recognizing small wins, and maintaining a practice mindset can prepare us for future challenges. It's also crucial to evolve and improve with clients, staff, or products, and to view departures as opportunities for growth. Every challenge is a stepping stone to greater opportunities, so it's essential to stay resilient and see setbacks as part of the journey.Understanding Adversity in EntrepreneurshipI kick off the podcast by emphasizing the importance of learning from mistakes and sharing those lessons with other entrepreneurs. I introduce the concept of "$13 days," those times when progress feels like a step backward. This is a normal part of the entrepreneurial journey. The goal is to spread out these backward steps over time, making them smaller and less catastrophic. I share a personal anecdote about my mentor asking me about the last significant setback, which highlights the importance of perspective. The Long View and Bright SpotsI advise taking a long-term view. Look back at past rough weeks, and you'll see that they happen less frequently and with less impact over time. I introduce "Bright Spots Fridays," where we reflect on our achievements to train our minds to focus on positive outcomes. Recognizing and celebrating small wins helps us stay resilient and better handle adversity. The purpose of Bright Spots Fridays isn't to brag; it's to acknowledge and learn from our successes.Practice and Preparation for Future ChallengesEvery challenge is practice for a bigger but similar challenge in the future. Each setback is a learning opportunity. I use the example of a staff member quitting as a rehearsal for handling more significant departures down the line. By preparing processes to prevent similar issues, we become better equipped to handle adversity with less impact. This cycle of audit and improvement is crucial for continuous growth and resilience.Client Relationships and Successful ExitsI talk about the natural end date for client relationships and how important it is to view client departures as a success rather than a failure. I share my criteria for a successful client exit, like the client continuing their fitness habit or achieving significant life changes. By focusing on the positive outcomes of client departures, we can feel more confident and prepared for future changes. This concept extends to our staff, products, and services, underscoring the importance of continuous improvement and evolution.Creating Opportunities Through AdversityI suggest seeing every challenge as an opportunity to create a seat at the table for something better. I share Emerson's quote, "Heartily no, when demigods go, the gods arrive," to illustrate how removing one challenge opens up space for a greater opportunity. Examples include replacing a damaged company car with a better one or using a staff departure to attract a more suitable candidate. I emphasize the importance of a linear approach to growth, where overcoming one challenge paves the way for the next opportunity.Top Tips for Working Through AdversityTo sum up, here are my top tips for working through adversity: take the long-term view, maintain a practice mindset, recognize that nothing lasts forever, and see challenges as opportunities. Count your wins, prepare for future...

To grab a copy of my new book Hard Stuff, Easy Life Click Here In this podcast episode, Jay Alderton discusses the concept of 'hard stuff' and how embracing difficult challenges can lead to an easier life. He covers seven principles related to the word 'hard': exercise and eating healthy, self-awareness, taking responsibility, kindness and forgiveness, changing bad habits, writing things down, and being different. Jay emphasises the importance of challenging oneself, being accountable, and making positive changes to achieve personal growth and success.
Biggest Challenges Parents Face:The primary challenges include managing the pervasive presence of technology and its impact on children. Parents must prioritize training their children in godly principles. The need for intentionality is crucial, as the internet is actively influencing and potentially addicting children to screens.45% of teens report being online almost constantly (Pew Research Center). The average age for creating a first social media account is 12.6 years. Parents must evaluate their own technology use to effectively guide their children.Technology's Influence on Development:Technology affects emotional, social, and cognitive development, particularly in early childhood. Excessive screen time can lead to:Addiction due to dopamine hitsA lack of essential life skills, resulting in instant gratification, a false sense of accomplishment and poor relationship/communication skillsDecreased attention spans:The AAP recommends no more than one 1 of screen time per day for children aged 2 to 5 and consistent limits for older kids. Kids aged 8 to 12 spend an average of 4.75 hours on screens daily (2023 study).60% of parents with children aged 8 to 12 are worried about online privacy.Nearly 40% of children aged 10 to 17 report being bullied online.Practical Suggestions:Teach children that trust and connection are the most valuable commodities. “If I trust you, you get so much freedom.” Create age-appropriate boundaries for technology use.Enforce boundaries without fostering conflict or resentment.Encourage children to set their own boundaries.Delay giving children phones until at least 8th grade.Establish a bedtime for phones.Consider options like the GABB phone and Bark phoneTailor screen time based on the level of freedom your child can handle.Recommended Resources:Defend Young Minds - Vallotton affiliate linksBrain Defense resources for families, classrooms, schools, etc.Brain Defense home pageAmazon affiliate link to booksGood Pictures Bad Pictures Jr.Good Pictures, Bad Pictures for older kids Protect Young EyesCommon Sense MediaGuests: Cole & Caitlin Zick, Pastors of Risen King Church in Redding, CA, and Former Directors of Moral Revolution Connect with Lauren:InstagramFacebookConnect with Jason:Jay's InstagramJay's FacebookBraveCo Instagramwww.braveco.org

The journey of parenting takes you through all kinds of moments, which sometimes means really difficult or even scary situations. The good news is, they don't have to pull you under. Join Ginger and Erin as they welcome back Dave Barnes and Jon McLaughlin from the Dadville podcast for some real talk that will encourage you as you navigate each child's individual personality and parent well, even in hard seasons. WALK IT OUT: Often our own pain impacts the way we parent our kids. Take some time and ask God to show you how to walk out your own healing journey with Him so you can teach your kids from a place of wholeness. He's ready to help you with each situation, conversation, and challenge you'll face together. READ IT OUT: Psalm 103:13 – James 1:5 – Proverbs 22:6 - Isaiah 43:2
