With all that we go through in life, seeking light can bring us comfort amid storms, heart-ache and frustrations. During a time of deep contemplation, I decided that I might not have control or answers to many of the worlds troubles but I can share light

Recently, I have been selling clothing and shoes on eBay. I have 100% positive reviews but the other day someone that I had sold something too asked to return it. Her reasoning did not match up with the item she bought. I felt like she was being deceitful with her return refund. It stayed on my mind all evening and into the morning. Then while walking and listening to the Tabernacle choir, I thought about how we as human beings can sometimes be hyper focused on the small percentage of negativity. Instead of me personally looking at my positive reviews and buyers purchases that went well, I focus on one sale item that did not go desired for the buyer. We are not alone. The mind can lean toward the small minority of comments or experiences we have and drown out all the good. Join me today as I share some thoughts about this topic.

Ben grew up in Oregon raised by a hard working, devoted single mother. He enjoyed camping adventures with her and his siblings as a child during the summer months. His curious mind often looked up at the stars and wondered about the universe and its expanse. Having not grown up with a specific religion, Ben had curiosities that took him to ask questions that most teenage boys don't consider. In this process of wondering, he felt God gathering him closer to HIM. Ben chose a friend group that would nuture these feelings and soon was introduced to our Heavenly Father's plan and love for Ben personally. Join me today as Ben shares his journey of finding God and choosing to serve the Lord by serving a mission.

Over 2 decades as a police officer on the streets of Portland Oregon. Tammy was the youngest of 5 children. She grew up wanting to be a mother. She excelled as a shot put thrower in high school and college. Ranking 10th in the nation. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Alabama. While attending college she changed her major 7 times, she ultimately decided to go into social work. At the time jobs were difficult to find in this field. While working at the copy machine in the police department she decided to become a police officer. Join me today as she shares her choice to become a police officer and how it has shaped her as a person.-As of 2024–2025, there are approximately 737,000 to over 750,000 full-time sworn law enforcement officers in the U.S.. The workforce is predominantly male (85.6%) and with about 14% female representation.

In the Fall of 2024, Ken had been having symptoms that seemed to keep lingering on. He decided to go to the doctors and see what was happening. Through tests, they told Ken that he had pancreatic cancer. The diagnosis was bleak and time was not on his side. He and his wife Holly leaned upon the Lord and one another to find the strength, courage and trust that they had built together since their marriage in September 1996. Join me today as Holly & Ken share their unique courtship and love for one another that has strengthened them through this trial of terminal cancer. In April 1975, Marion D Hanks gave a talk titled, Trust in the Lord. In it he said, “As life supplies its store of tribulation we need the consolation that comes with knowing that God is good and that he is near, that he understands, and that he loves us and will help us and strengthen us for the realities of a world where sin and affliction exist. And while I'm talking about principles this morning, I am not really thinking in the abstract, but I'm thinking of many noble souls who have met difficulties with courage” ….. Comfort came to them in the quiet knowledge of the nearness of a Savior who himself had not been spared the most keen and intense suffering, who himself had drunk of the bitter cup.”“From this source—from God and Christ—wisdom and strength can be found that will make endurance possible, and relationships generous and helpful, that will lead to abundancy of life and to everlasting life. God will “temper the wind to the shorn lamb,” and help us to endure all things and to continue to maintain integrity in the face of the siren song of invitation to “curse God and die”—die spiritually, die as to things pertaining to righteousness, die to hope and holiness and faith in a future where there is no corruption and no pain.”“Christ came that men might have life abundant and life eternal, and he declared that “this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” (John 17:3.)“Our religion is “not weight, it is wings.” It can carry us through the dark times, the bitter cup. It will be with us in the fiery furnace and the deep pit. It will accompany us to the hospital room and to the place of bereavement. It can guarantee us the presence of a Captain on the rough voyage. It is, in short, not the path to easy disposition of problems, but the comforting assurance of the eternal light, by which we may see, and the eternal warmth, which we may feel. “The Lord is good: Blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” (Ps. 34:8.)”

While heading to the church for a presidency meeting, I saw a sister from another ward trying to unload a truck bed full of decorations for a wedding. I had a moment to decide to either walk into the church to the presidency meeting or go over to her truck and offer to help her carry and lift all of her things into the gym?My mind returned to a situation as a ward RS president years ago. We had had our meeting and after exiting the building we stood by our cars talking. I noticed a couple (not active but I was friendly with the wife) arrived at the parking lot who had a truck load of things that they had planned to put in the DI truck in the back parking lot. My mind kept looking over wondering if I should exit the conversation and go help them unload. After minutes passed I decided to walk over and offer to help, the husband commented, “it's a little late”. I felt horrible. Was my conversation with my presidency better than serving this couple? Regret has stayed with me for years. Then the opportunity arose to choose differently. Help a friend and arrive a little late or walk past her and head into my presidency meeting. Then we got an email from Bailey's mission that same night. Our thoughts aligned. Join me today as I share this email and thoughts on serving others!!

In the late 1970's Jeff was a young man trying to make money while working up in Kodiak Alaska. His near fate with death while out in a boat in the Gulf of Alaska caused him to pause and re-think his choices. That hyper awareness of the preciousness of life soon disappeared when he returned back to Oregon. Then one late night while at a bar with his brother tragedy struck again. Jeff's pain and anger continued to gnaw at him for many years. Join me today as Jeff shares the lessons that he learned from his wife and life's tragedy's.

At women's conference this weekend we listened to a presentation about phone use, technology, Real VS Reel. During a part of it we talked about getting outside and enjoying nature. That led me thinking about the Savior and other scripture stories of people doing life in the outdoors. I personally love the outdoors. I walk most days a week. I love to see the birds, flowers, trees, grass, and the sky. Either hiking, camping, mowing, yardwork. Alma: "All things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth... witness that there is a Supreme Creator" (Alma 30:44)Benefits of being outdoors:Spending time in nature reduces stress (lowering cortisol), improves mental health by easing depression and anxiety, boosts immune function, increases vitamin D levels, and enhances focus. Just 20–30 minutes outdoors, or 120 minutes weekly, can improve sleep, boost energy, and lower blood pressure. Mental Health and Brain FunctionReduced Stress & Anxiety: Nature lowers cortisol levels, which helps reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.Improved Mood and Self-Esteem: Even short 5-minute walks in nature can boost mood and increase feelings of happiness and relaxation.Enhanced Cognitive Function: Time outside increases focus, memory, and creativity.Reduced ADHD Symptoms: Exposure to green spaces helps improve attention and reduce symptoms of ADHD in children. Physical Health BenefitsImproved Immune System: Regular outdoor time, especially in forests, can boost natural killer (NK) cell activity, which helps fight diseases.Increased Vitamin D: Sunlight exposure provides essential Vitamin D, which is crucial for bone health and immunity.Better Sleep: Natural light helps regulate your circadian rhythm, leading to better, more consistent sleep.Reduced Cardiovascular Risks: Spending time in green spaces is linked to lower blood pressure, improved heart health, and reduced mortality.Better Vision: Time outdoors can reduce the risk of nearsightedness. Activity and Well-beingHigher Physical Activity: Exercising in natural environments often leads to higher intensity workouts and increased motivation compared to indoor workouts.Reduced Fatigue: Being in nature can boost energy levels and reduce feelings of exhaustion.Faster Recovery: People spending time in nature have shown improved recovery times from illness or injury.

During General Conference one of my favorite talks was by Emily Belle Freeman, April 2026, Best Days and Worst Days, she said, "Several weeks ago we began planning our daughter's wedding. With great joy, we dreamed and brainstormed as we considered all the options. And then my husband, Greg, received a phone call he couldn't ignore. It was the oncologist confirming what we hoped wasn't true. Greg's cancer had returned.Isn't it amazing how you can go from best day to worst day in a matter of minutes? This is mortality. A proving ground. A place designed for growth. I have learned that God allows mortality to do its work in us—and that includes both best days and worst days.”I began to think about WORST day moments to BEST day moments. A bit of a reverse thought from Emily's talk. But as Emily said at the end of her talk...."Because of Him, no matter how bad things are right now, your best days are ahead.”

While on a study break at the temple, I opened my eyes to something that had not appeared to me before in my scripture reading. Join me today as I share the insights I received from Alma 17.“We don't have to go only to the stories where He appears to someone to find Him—He is in every story.” — Shannon Foster

Two of our kids are coming home from their missions this year. I've been thinking about the importance of their growth and happiness that they've experienced on their missions. As I reflected on how much they both learned from companions, investigators, using their strength each day to walk and talk and meet people I realized that when they come home, the struggle will be in maintaining the spiritual further, even though their lives are not 24 hour proselyting are teaching. Then my thoughts led to how many times we as humans want to get healthy and lose weight. We start working out. Many times we are able to set goals to lose weight and get fit and we accomplish that goal. We feel really good. Then when we get to that golden desired place, we need to go into maintenance phase. Meaning, we will need to set goals and boundaries that make it so we don't return to our old habits. Finding a healthy way to stay in maintenance. That to me is the hardest part. It's really not that difficult to decide to lose the weight and do the things you have to do to get there. It's maintaining what you've accomplished. Your growth really came in the experience of getting to that goal. Learning and growing in the gospel can be the same. We gain knowledge, we serve in callings, we have spiritual experiences, we get answers from God, we see miracles happen in our loved ones lives, but for some reason we forget and don't focus on the maintenance. We go in to our old habits and behaviors and forget to focus on God and his bountiful blessings. Join me today as I share some thoughts on MAINTENCE!"An introspective look may reveal that we too and our families could benefit from our doing some needed maintenance and renovation work, even a seismic upgrade!" Gary E Stevenson, 2020Definition of maintenance with machinery:The technical meaning of maintenance involves functional checks, servicing, repairing or replacing of necessary devices, equipment, machinery, building infrastructure1.Functional CHECKS2. SERVICING (Getting oil changes and proper servicing for our vehicles)3. REPAIR (repair our headlight in the Avalon)4. REPLACE of necessary DEVICES5. EQUIPMENT6. MACHINERY (the working parts of a machine or instrument ; 3 · the organization or system by which something is done or carried on)7. BUILDING infrastructure : (the basic physical and organizational structures and facilities (e.g. buildings, roads, power supplies) needed for the operation of a society or enterprise.)

We look around us and can see suffering.and heartache. That leads me to ask myself questions of why, when, how and what. Why do some things happen to certain people? When we they get answers and peace? How long will they have to endure? What am I to do with this experience and trial? Human nature can have us asking these questions. In ttoday's episode, I share some personal personal struggles I am witnessing or have witnessed and how I am exercising my faith in moving forward.Elder Renlund, April 2021 "When faced with unfairness, we can push ourselves away from God or we can be drawn toward Him for help and support.” “Do not let unfairness harden you or corrode your faith in God. Instead, ask God for help. Increase your appreciation for and reliance on the Savior. Rather than becoming bitter, let Him help you become better. Allow Him to help you persevere, to let your afflictions be “swallowed up in the joy of Christ."

After taking a break from podcasting, I'm ready to jump back in! Today I share with you a little of my WHY about returning to podcasting and how good it feels to be back!! "Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it." — Andy Rooney

After 3 1/2 years of recording my podcast, it is time to close the chapter of this book in my life and opened another chapter. With much thought and prayer I'm recording my final podcast today. There are so many things that I have learned from doing this podcast. I have met some incredible people and listen to their amazing stories. I have been able to record prompting and inspiration I received while reading the scriptures and living life through different experiences. Thank you so much for supporting me through this incredible journey! Moroni 9:6 “And now, my beloved son, notwithstanding their hardness, let us labor diligently; for if we should cease to labor, we should be brought under condemnation; for we have a labor to perform whilst in this tabernacle of clay, that we may conquer the enemy of all righteousness, and rest our souls in the kingdom of God.” Moroni 9: 25 My son, be faithful in Christ; and may not the things which I have written grieve thee, to weigh thee down unto death; but may Christ lift thee up, and may his sufferings and death, and the showing his body unto our fathers, and his mercy and long-suffering, and the hope of his glory and of eternal life, rest in your mind forever. 26 And may the grace of God the Father, whose throne is high in the heavens, and our Lord Jesus Christ, who sitteth on the right hand of his power, until all things shall become subject unto him, be, and abide with you forever. Amen.”

Quotes have been such a gift to me in my life. I have drawn upon them over and over in my life. Join me today as I share 5 quotes that have affected my life lately. 1. “A warrior is not a person that carries a gun. The biggest war you ever go through is right between your own ears. It's in your mind. We're all going through a war in our mind, and we have to callus our mind to fight that war and to win that war.” - David Goggins 2. “You turn your FOCUS, GOD, will change your heart” Abinadi: 3. “Large fires can start from a single spark.” 4. “Rather than adding more years to your life, add more life to your years” 5. “Miracles are a part of the gospel of Jesus Christ. If miracles cease it is because faith has ceased.” God knows each of us. He loves us! He know our pains, sorrows, joys, worries, discouragements. We're never alone!! Bailey shared this to us last night while reading scriptures, “Sometimes our own personal conversion doesn't happen in the sacred grove but rather our own personal Liberty jail.”

God accomplishes his work through small things. While reading my scriptures, I was reminded of this very truth. Join me today as I share some thoughts about small groups. Alma 37: 6 Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise. 7 And the Lord God doth work by means to bring about his great and eternal purposes; and by very small means the Lord doth confound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls.

Three lessons I learned going to the Washington Family Ranch in Central Oregon. Lesson # 1: God created this earth for you and I to fill his love and experience his goodness. D&C 59: 18 Yea, all things which come of the earth, in the season thereof, are made for the benefit and the use of man, both to please the eye and to gladden the heart; 19 Yea, for food and for raiment, for taste and for smell, to strengthen the body and to enliven the soul. 20 And it pleaseth God that he hath given all these things unto man Lesson # 2: Even though we might be given mundane tasks to accomplish, there is a purpose and growth in these experiences. Lesson # 3: Continue to do good. There is so many good people in this world trying to do good things. bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com

Have you ever felt like an underdog? I love to read, watch or listen to stories about the underdog rising triumphant. Join me today as I talk about the underdog and how we will overcome the evil that is spreading across the earth and be a light that shines in the darkness. 1 Nephi 14:12-14 12 And it came to pass that I beheld the church of the Lamb of God, and its numbers were few, because of the wickedness and abominations of the whore who sat upon many waters; nevertheless, I beheld that the church of the Lamb, who were the saints of God, were also upon all the face of the earth; and their dominions upon the face of the earth were small, because of the wickedness of the great whore whom I saw. 13 And it came to pass that I beheld that the great mother of abominations did gather together multitudes upon the face of all the earth, among all the nations of the Gentiles, to fight against the Lamb of God. 14 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory. D & C 84:88 “88 And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.” bethnewellcoaching.com bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com

While listening to the ALL IN podcast recently that was talking about lamenting. Morgan said something that really spoke to my heart. “No flowers bloom in all seasons”. What a profound thought for me. I love flowers and during this time of year they are all around our property. Join me today as I share some thoughts about flowers and our personal blooming we experience in life. Ecclesiastes 3: 1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; 3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; 7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com

This is a re-posted podcast from my archives! As I travel to spend time with my kids, I felt this podcast was perfect for our lives!! Thank you for supporting me. Enjoy!!! Today, while preparing for church I thought so much about personal peace during these times. Our opening hymn was Where Can I Turn For Peace. Many of us are seeking for peace. We have wars and commotion going on all around us but we can have personal peace. Peace comes through Jesus Christ and following his teachings. Join me today as I share some thoughts and light about peace. John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” A Pattern for Peace By Bishop W. Christopher Waddell Second Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric said, “The peace we all seek requires us to act—by learning of Jesus Christ, by listening to His words, and by walking with Him.” bethnewellcoaching.com bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com

This is such a beautiful time of year in our area. We have spring trees flowering everywhere. On our property alone we have several different fruit bearing trees. As I walk outside each day, I see trees surrounding our neighborhood. That got me thinking about the significance of trees in the standard works. Join me today as I share some scriptures and how all of these trees symbolize our reliance on the Savior Jesus Christ. bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com

Cindy grew up in Portand Oregon. From her earliest memories she experienced abuse from the hands of the adults who were to care for her. She emailed me, "My life has been full of trials but the attonement has been my lifeline since I was baptized back in 2010. Through Schizoaffective disorder, mental health breakdowns, grief from miscarriage after miscarriage, the attonement of Christ has been there. Comforting me. Sustaining me. And giving me the strength to endure the trials that have molded me. Refined me. And loved me when I have felt unlovable.” Join me today as Cindy shares her story of seeking light amidst her storms. President Monson said, “Our Heavenly Father … knows that we learn and grow and become stronger as we face and survive the trials through which we must pass.” bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com

I had the great opportunity to go to general conference and listen to Bailey sing in the conference center and the enjoy the wonderful talks from the leaders of our church. So many wonderful things are happening in our family right now. My heart is very full. I have spent the last 2 weeks reflecting on parenting and how many times I have symbolically "dropped the ball". Parenting has taught me so many incredible life lessons. Here are just three that I share today: 1. Saying SORRY as many times as I can 2. Trying to do BETTER each day 3. Having FAITH in Heavenly Father Join me today as I share some insights and thoughts about what parenting has taught me. President Gordon B. Matt needed to go walking around the backyard to find the area that our goats were escaping from our yard into our neighbors yard. He was dressed in a warm coat and in shorts. When he went in the house he said his legs were hurting because of all the cuts he got all over his legs. He showed me all the cuts and scratches and said, “I knew that I shouldn't have worn these shorts”. My mind began to think of all the times that I made a decision to do something and thought, “I knew that I shouldn't have done that”. Join me today as I share some thoughts on change and moving forward not taking the easy way. “You can change! You can be anything you want to be in righteousness. If there is one lament I cannot abide, it is the poor, withered cry, ‘Well, that's just the way that I am.' I've heard it from too many people who want to sin and call it psychology. You can change anything you want to change, and you can do it very fast. Another satanic sucker punch is that it takes years and years and eons and eons to repent. That's just not true. It takes exactly as long to repent as it takes you to say, ‘Ill change' and mean it. Of course, there will be problems to work out and restitutions to make…but change, growth, renewal , and repentance can come to you as instantaneously as for Alma.” Elder Jeffrey R. Holland | For Times of Trouble “We can change our behavior. Our very desires can change. How? There is only one way. True change—permanent change—can come only through the healing, cleansing, and enabling power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He loves you—each of you! He allows you to access His power as you keep His commandments, eagerly, earnestly, and exactly. It is that simple and certain. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of change!” Russell M. Nelson | Decisions for Eternity bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com

While reading my scriptures these words popped out to me: "he sought much opportunity that he might come unto me." That is exactly what satan does, he seeks after us to lead us away with flattery and false information. With our desires to live a good life, obey God and follow the Savior, we need to be sure to be like Jacob and be NOT BE SHAKEN by his deceits and false words. Jacob 7: 1 And now it came to pass after some years had passed away, there came a man among the people of Nephi, whose name was Sherem. 2 And it came to pass that he began to preach among the people, and to declare unto them that there should be no Christ. And he preached many things which were flattering unto the people; and this he did that he might overthrow the doctrine of Christ. 3 And he labored diligently that he might lead away the hearts of the people, insomuch that he did lead away many hearts; and he knowing that I, Jacob, had faith in Christ who should come, he sought much opportunity that he might come unto me. 4 And he was learned, that he had a perfect knowledge of the language of the people; wherefore, he could use much flattery, and much power of speech, according to the power of the devil. 5 And he had hope to shake me from the faith, notwithstanding the many revelations and the many things which I had seen concerning these things; for I truly had seen angels, and they had ministered unto me. And also, I had heard the voice of the Lord speaking unto me in very word, from time to time; wherefore, I could not be shaken.

The missionaries came for dinner and shared a spiritual thought. The newest missionary shared a spiritual insight from his personal scripture. Studying Alma 38 about Shiblon really touched him. That led my thoughts back to myself when I was a teenager and I was experiencing different emotions around my friendships and the church. At 15, 16, one night while I was laying in bed, I read Alma 38 which showed me how much Heavenly Father was aware of me and my life. He knows us all and wants to remind us that he is always close by and aware of our needs and desires. Alma 38: 2 And now, my son, I trust that I shall have great joy in you, because of your steadiness and your faithfulness unto God; for as you have commenced in your youth to look to the Lord your God, even so I hope that you will continue in keeping his commandments; for blessed is he that endureth to the end. 3 I say unto you, my son, that I have had great joy in thee already, because of thy faithfulness and thy diligence, and thy patience and thy long-suffering among the people of the Zoramites. 5 And now my son, Shiblon, I would that ye should remember, that as much as ye shall put your trust in God even so much ye shall be delivered out of your trials, and your troubles, and your afflictions, and ye shall be lifted up at the last day. bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com

What can a wrestling tournament, rodeos and concerts teach you? This weekend, I was able to go to my nieces wrestling tournament. 7 And it came to pass that after I, Nephi, had been in the land of Bountiful for the space of many days, the voice of the Lord came unto me, saying: Arise, and get thee into the mountain. And it came to pass that I arose and went up into the mountain, and cried unto the Lord. 8 And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto me, saying: Thou shalt construct a ship, after the manner which I shall show thee, that I may carry thy people across these waters. 9 And I said: Lord, whither shall I go that I may find ore to molten, that I may make tools to construct the ship after the manner which thou hast shown unto me? 10 And it came to pass that the Lord told me whither I should go to find ore, that I might make tools. 51 And now, if the Lord has such great power, and has wrought so many miracles among the children of men, how is it that he cannot instruct me, that I should build a ship?

What if you have to leave BOUNTIFUL? What do I mean by this? Join me today as I share some thoughts about having to leave our personal "bountifuls" 1 Nephi 17: 4 And we did sojourn for the space of many years, yea, even eight years in the wilderness. 5 And we did come to the land which we called Bountiful, because of its much fruit and also wild honey; and all these things were prepared of the Lord that we might not perish. And we beheld the sea, which we called Irreantum, which, being interpreted, is many waters. 6 And it came to pass that we did pitch our tents by the seashore; and notwithstanding we had suffered many afflictions and much difficulty, yea, even so much that we cannot write them all, we were exceedingly rejoiced when we came to the seashore; and we called the place Bountiful, because of its much fruit. 7 And it came to pass that after I, Nephi, had been in the land of Bountiful for the space of many days, the voice of the Lord came unto me, saying: Arise, and get thee into the mountain. And it came to pass that I arose and went up into the mountain, and cried unto the Lord.

Joseph B Wirthlin said, "Kindness is the essence of greatness and the fundamental characteristic of the noblest men and women I have known. Kindness is a passport that opens doors and fashions friends. It softens hearts and molds relationships that can last lifetimes. Kind words not only lift our spirits in the moment they are given, but they can linger with us over the years." “When we are filled with kindness, we are not judgmental. The Savior taught, “Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.”4 He also taught that “with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.”5 “But,” you ask, “what if people are rude?” Love them. “If they are obnoxious?” Love them. “But what if they offend? Surely I must do something then?” Love them. “Wayward?” The answer is the same. Be kind. Love them. Why? In the scriptures Jude taught, “And of some have compassion, making a difference.”6 Who can tell what far-reaching impact we can have if we are only kind?" Twelve DISCIPLES Twelve APOSTLES Twelve MINISTERS 1 Nephi 12: 6 And I saw the heavens open, and the Lamb of God descending out of heaven; and he came down and showed himself unto them. 7 And I also saw and bear record that the Holy Ghost fell upon twelve others; and they were ordained of God, and chosen. 8 And the angel spake unto me, saying: Behold the twelve disciples of the Lamb, who are chosen to minister unto thy seed. 9 And he said unto me: Thou rememberest the twelve apostles of the Lamb? Behold they are they who shall judge the twelve tribes of Israel; wherefore, the twelve ministers of thy seed shall be judged of them; for ye are of the house of Israel.10 And these twelve ministers whom thou beholdest shall judge thy seed. And, behold, they are righteous forever; for because of their faith in the Lamb of God their garments are made white in his blood. bethnewellcoaching.com bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com

THE LORD LOVES EFFORT President Nelson's talk continued: “To do anything well “requires effort”. Becoming a true disciple of Jesus Christ is no exception. Increasing your faith and trust in Him takes “effort.” Pearl asked:“Is it hard to be a prophet? Are you, like, really busy?” President Nelson: “Of course it's hard. Everything to do with becoming more like the Savior is difficult. For example, when God wanted to give the Ten Commandments to Moses, where did He tell Moses to go? Up on top of a mountain, on the top of Mount Sinai. So Moses had to walk all the way up to the top of that mountain to get the Ten Commandments. Now, Heavenly Father could have said, ‘Moses, you start there, and I'll start here, and I'll meet you halfway.' No, the Lord loves effort, because effort brings rewards that can't come without it. For example, did you ever take piano lessons?” Children: “Yes.” Pearl: “I take violin.” President Nelson: “And do you practice?” Children: “Yes.” President Nelson: “What happens if you don't practice?” Pearl: “You forget.” President Nelson: “Yes, you don't progress, do you? So the answer is yes, Pearl. It takes effort, a lot of hard work, a lot of study, and there's never an end. That's good! That's good, because we're always progressing. Even in the next life we're making progress.”

When their second child came to them in their late teens and shared that they believed they were transgender, Monica and James had entered a world that they were unfamiliar with. As children of God and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they sought personal revelation on how to love their child, show compassion and stay connected. "The Book of Mormon begins with an account of a real family experiencing real struggles. It happened in 600 BC, but there are things about this account that might seem familiar to families today. This family was living in a world of wickedness, but the Lord promised them that if they would follow Him, He would lead them to safety. Along the way they had good moments and bad moments, great blessings and miracles, but they also had arguments and contention. Rarely in scripture is there such a detailed account of a family trying to live the gospel: parents struggling to inspire faith in their family and worrying about their safety, children deciding if they will believe their parents, and brothers dealing with jealousy and contention—and sometimes forgiving each other. Overall, there is power in this imperfect family's examples of faith." (Come Follow Me, Book of Mormon, Study Manual, 2024) While we were reading this weeks lesson with our children, I loved how we do have a blueprint for our families as we read the story of Lehi and Sariah. Join me today as I share some insights from their family.

While I was up late in the night, I was listening to a presentation about unity in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The presenter gave the analogy of a Thanksgiving dinner as the body of church. I began to think about this analogy and realize how applicable it was. Join me today as I share this analogy. “In our extremely contentious world, how can unity be achieved, especially in the Church, where we are to have “one Lord, one faith, one baptism”? Paul gives us the key: “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ.” We are too diverse and at times too discordant to be able to come together as one on any other basis or under any other name. Only in Jesus Christ can we truly become one. Becoming one in Christ happens one by one—we each begin with ourselves. We are dual beings of flesh and spirit and are sometimes at war within ourselves.” One in Christ, D. Todd Christofferson, 2023 bethnewellcoaching.com bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com

“Knowing that the gospel is true is the essence of a testimony. Consistently being true to the gospel is the essence of conversion.” “Testimony is the beginning of and a prerequisite to continuing conversion. Testimony is a point of departure; it is not an ultimate destination. Strong testimony is the foundation upon which conversion is established. Testimony alone is not and will not be enough to protect us in the latter-day storm of darkness and evil in which we are living. Testimony is important and necessary but not sufficient to provide the spiritual strength and protection we need. Some members of the Church with testimonies have wavered and fallen away. Their spiritual knowledge and commitment did not measure up to the challenges they faced.” Bednar, Converted unto the Lord The start of the new year and conversations with our kids has led me to think of how important it is for each of us to build our lives on a sure foundation and be converted unto the Lord in these last days. 1 Nephi 7: 15 Now behold, I say unto you that if ye will return unto Jerusalem ye shall also perish with them. And now, if ye have choice, go up to the land, and remember the words which I speak unto you, that if ye go ye will also perish; for thus the Spirit of the Lord Elder Uchtdorf: “At the heart of God's plan for your happiness is your power to choose. Of course, your Heavenly Father wants you to choose eternal joy with Him, and He will help you to achieve it, but He would never force it upon you. So He allows you to choose: Light or darkness? Good or evil? Joy or misery? Eternal life or spiritual death? It sounds like an easy choice, doesn't it? But somehow, here on earth, it seems more complicated than it ought to be." Charlie and Sarah Brown married 8 years ago in the Manila Philippines temple. They met online and communicated for three years before they got married. Charlie grew up with a mother who was Baptist and taught him about God. When he was 12 years old, he ran away from home and never went back. He joined the Navy when he was eligible and was later adopted by a family from the foster care system. Sara grew up in the Philippines and learned about God through the Catholic Church. When she was a teenager, her brother listened to the Missionaries and Sarah joined the church along with him at age 16. in her early 20s she had a spiritual experience reading the book of Mormon and knew that she needed to go and tell the world about it. She served a mission in 1993. Charlie and Sarah met online in 2012 and fell in love. Charlie ended up moving to the Philippines, and they began their life there. When the pandemic hit in early 2020 many of the missionaries in the Philippines and the missionary couples went home. In 2020, Sarah felt the prompting that she and Charlie should call the mission president and offer their help if he needed anything. Immediately moved and served a mission for 39 months in the Philippines. Join me today as they talk about their conversion, meeting one another, and their couples mission in the Philippines. bethnewellcoaching.com

Thank you for supporting me with my podcast. This is my 300th episode! Can you believe it? I'm so grateful I have this platform to share my thoughts and feelings. This podcast episode comes from an experience I had during the Thanksgiving week. Many times I think about the women and children of this world and my heart sinks. I feel like there is so much wickedness and evil taking place and I want to be a voice and person for good against the evil of this world. I was feeling heavy and downtrodden and having conversations with my husband and family members. After a few days of a heavy heart, I opened my scriptures one night before I went to sleep and read Alma chapter 58. This chapter spoke peace to my soul. it comforted me and reassured me that God is completely aware of my little concerns in a small town in Oregon. He is aware of all of us. He wants to comfort and guide each of us in our lives. The scriptures have always been a place of refuge for me, and this podcast was born from the feelings and impressions I've had from the scriptures and other spiritual experiences through the years. Join me today as I share a little insight from Alma 58 and what it taught me. bethnewellcoaching.com bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com

While listening to a talk, I began to think about the importance of water to our physical bodies. I thought of some examples of times when I felt thirsty, or knew of people that had experienced thirst. I then thought about how the Savior is the living water. he can quench our spiritual thirst completely. Join me today as I share some thoughts about Christ being the living water. “The general consensus is that people can survive for around three days without water, with estimates typically ranging from two days to a week. Wilderness guides often refer to the “rule of 3”, which says that a person can live for 3 minutes without air (oxygen), 3 days without water, and 3 weeks without food.” "A symbol of the Lord Jesus Christ and His teachings. As water is essential to sustain physical life, the Savior and His teachings (living water) are essential for eternal life.” Bible Dictionary bethnewellcoaching.com bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com
