James Camillo Bain Jim was born on December 19, 1937, and passed away on June 1, 2020, at the age of 82. Jim was the personification of a radio veteran. He started working in radio at 96.7 KWIZ in Garden Grove (1965-69), KMEN 1290 AM in San Bernardino (1969-73), KIQQ [K100] in Los Angeles (1973), KWIZ (1974-79 & 1982-85), Unistar AM Only (1985-88) and 95.9 KEZY in Anaheim (1988). He turned his love for radio into a career of inspiring future broadcasters at Fullerton College and running its radio station, 90.1 FM KBPK in Buena Park. He started the comprehensive program at Fullerton in 1981 and realized that he needed to enlarge his own academics. While running the program at Fullerton College, he worked weekends at KWIZ & Unistar’s AM Only…All while going back to school! He received a B.A. degree in business management from the University of Redlands in 1988 at the age of 50 and didn’t stop there. Three years later he received his M.S. degree in career and college counseling. Jim talked about his love for radio: “This wonderful, sometimes frustrating business, ever-challenging but the greatest of all industries and definitely the mistress that owns us all – radio.”
