Historian & journalist Esha Krishnaswamy returns to Bad Faith to apply a historical lens to the Jacobin-left's argument that the left needs to moderate in order to become more palatable to normie audiences. Applying lessons from the Bolsheviks and other actually-existing-socialist states, Esha argues that the role of leftists in the imperial core is heighten the contradictions of capital and support imperialist struggles -- not to sacrifice that support in the hope of gaining acceptance by zionist corporate elites. What do we make of elected leftists who can't clearly answer a question about whether Netanyahu should be arrested, or say 'the IMF is bad"? While the right is forcing the vote on condemning socialism, will elected leftists ever use their leverage for...anything at all? With Zohran & AOC-endorsed Hakeem Jeffries meeting with the informal lord-regent of Gaza, & the DSA electeds disclaiming, not defending, socialism, does history provide some guide posts to help the left reorient itself at a time when world events are exposing the vulnerabilities of capitalism & imperialism? I break down three major behaviors men need to stop doing this year if they want to build genuine intimacy and peace in their relationships. I unpack why pretending you are "fine" breaks trust, how shifting from logistical fixing to emotional understanding changes everything, and why you must stop outsourcing your internal regulation to your partner's mood. By replacing these habits with self-regulation and honest communication, you can cultivate a much stronger, grounded connection.SHOW HIGHLIGHTS00:00 - Introduction01:36 - Stop Performing and Pretending to Be Fine04:37 - Stop Trying to Fix Her Feelings09:43 - Stop Outsourcing Your Regulation to Her Mood13:30 - Practices for Emotional Detachment and Self-Regulation***Tired of feeling like you're never enough? Nonfiction writer G'Ra Asim joins co-hosts V.V. Ganeshananthan and Whitney Terrell to talk about his new book, 99 Problems Finding the 1: a love story (sort of). Asim discusses Afropessimism, heteropessimism, and their relationship to his pursuit of love as a cis straight black man; defines the idea of “thinkful wishing”; and recalls the ways in which black couples in his family, including his parents, have modeled relationships for him. He explains how—inspired by the viral New York Times essay “The 36 Questions That Lead to Love”— he came up with a series of inquiries that push two participants to reflect on their experiences of gender and race. He talks about how culture influences understanding of romance, mentioning Destiny's Child, Dexter, and Minor Feelings. He reads from 99 Problems Finding the 1.To hear the full episode, subscribe through iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, Spotify, or your favorite podcast app (include the forward slashes when searching). In "Why the Future of Freight Has No Driver's Cab", Joe Lynch speaks with Founder and CEO of Humble Robotics, Eyal Cohen, about how cabless, electric autonomous haulers are reimagining commercial logistics from the ground up. About Eyal Cohen Eyal Cohen is the Founder and CEO of Humble Robotics, an autonomous electric trucking company that recently closed a seed round and emerged from stealth with the Humble Hauler – a fully autonomous, cabless, electric Class 8 truck built from the ground up. Cohen spent his career at the frontier of autonomous vehicles and electrification: he was inside Apple's self-driving program in its early days, watched Uber move into commercial freight, executed the world's first autonomous freight delivery by semi-truck, and sold his previous company to John Deere. About Humble Robotics Humble Robotics is an autonomous vehicle technology company reimagining commercial freight transportation through physical AI and zero-emission heavy hauling. The company builds fully autonomous, electric Class 8 haulers purpose-built to handle complex logistics scenarios without a traditional driver cab or diesel tank. By blending vision-language-action (VLA) models with robust, lightweight hardware, Humble Robotics powers a universal platform supporting multiple vehicle configurations. Its cabless, vision-first design is 20% lighter than standard rigs, reaching up to a 200-mile range at 55 mph. Functioning as tractor, trailer, and driver combined, the Humble Hauler delivers a true dock-to-dock solution that lowers per-mile operating costs, eliminates fuel dependency, and streamlines global supply chain operations. Key Takeaways: Why the Future of Freight Has No Driver's Cab In "Why the Future of Freight Has No Driver's Cab", Joe Lynch speaks with Founder and CEO of Humble Robotics, Eyal Cohen, about how cabless, electric autonomous haulers are reimagining commercial logistics from the ground up. Shedding the "Driver & Cab Tax": Traditional Class 8 trucks carry heavy operational overhead due to driver labor, sleeper cabs, and complex mechanical maintenance; eliminating cab infrastructure entirely with a purpose-built autonomous chassis lowers total cost-per-mile across equipment, labor, and maintenance. Eliminating the 20% Deadweight Penalty: Standard semi-truck setups waste allowable weight limits hauling heavy engine cabs, fuel systems, and driver amenities. A streamlined, cabless universal platform is 20% lighter, letting shippers maximize payload weight per route. Targeting High-Volume, Short-Haul Routes First: While industry focus often gravitates toward long-haul trucking, 87% of U.S. truck tonnage moves under 250 miles; focusing on high-frequency, short-haul moves (like drayage, port transfers, rail yards, and inter-facility shuttling) allows electrification and autonomy to succeed immediately. Achieving True End-to-End "Dock-to-Dock" Autonomy: Highway-only autonomous systems leave complex yard maneuvers and loading dock connections to human drivers; an integrated tractor-trailer platform with a universal "lock & twist" interface can navigate yards, haul 40' international or 53' domestic containers, and dock without human intervention. Deploying Explainable VLA AI Over Rigid HD Maps: Replacing expensive, brittle HD pre-mapping with Vision-Language-Action (VLA) foundation models and 360° sensor arrays (cameras, LiDAR, radar) enables vehicles to fine-tune to new facilities in days while generating plain-language, auditable logs for every maneuver. Escaping Fuel Volatility and Carbon Costs: Operating an all-electric Class 8 powertrain with a 200-mile range protects fleets from volatile diesel pricing and rising engine maintenance while helping operators meet zero-emission mandates and secure state incentives. Building a Purpose-Built Platform Instead of Retrofitting: Retrofitting legacy diesel rigs with autonomous kits retains structural inefficiency and legacy failure points; designing a clean-sheet autonomous EV from the ground up delivers the necessary system redundancy, field safety, and operational reliability required for commercial adoption. We hit the high notes, and we hit the low notes, but we’ll always bring the banter. What are you waiting for? Dive in! As always, the opinions fly fast and heavy! How do you design a modern Los Angeles noir without simply recreating the past?In this episode of Decorating Pages, I talk with Production Designer Meghan C. Rogers about creating the visual world of Season 2 of Apple TV's Sugar, starring Colin Farrell. Meghan joined the series for its second season and pushed the show's established noir language further, using architecture, texture, lighting and locations to make Los Angeles itself part of John Sugar's story. We get into the massive Indonesia sequence built at the Paramount water tank, including the engineering, water-safety and fire requirements behind a set that had to work both inside and outside. Meghan also takes us through the Hotel Del Corazon and its Casablanca-inspired circular bar, Sugar's mid-century hideaway in the Hollywood Hills, the boxing gym, K-Town locations, homeless encampments created beneath some of LA's incredible concrete architecture, and a vintage trailer the art department found on Facebook Marketplace. We also talk about the less glamorous realities behind what appears on screen: graphics departments, graffiti and artwork clearances, sun studies, multiple company moves in a single day, rebuilding interiors, finding camera-friendly architecture and what happens when production asks you to flip a set…and then suddenly needs the original set back. For Meghan, the opportunity was ultimately about showing Los Angeles in all of its layers—from glamorous hilltop views to the city underneath the freeways—and finding a contemporary version of classic noir that still belongs completely to Sugar.Sugar Season 2 is streaming on Apple TV.
This week on the KORE Women podcast, Dr. Summer Watson is joined by Dr. Vasu Tolia, who is a physician, visual artist, and thought leader exploring the intersection of identity, healing, creativity, and transformation. After a successful career in academic medicine, Dr. Tolia embarked on an unexpected journey of reinvention through art. Key Takeaways: Scaling Logistics Innovation at Descartes Systems Group In "Scaling Logistics Innovation at Descartes Systems Group", Joe Lynch and Dan Cicerchi, the General Manager of Transportation Management Solutions at Descartes Systems Group, discuss the strategic integration of trustworthy AI to enhance existing core logistics technology and solve practical pain points across the global supply chain. Trust First: AI adoption in logistics must be built on governance and trust, using frameworks like NIST to ensure data security and accountability. AI Augments, Doesn't Replace: AI is a powerful enhancer for core systems (TMS, visibility), not a standalone replacement. Its primary role is to improve efficiency. Focus on Practical Pain Points: Start AI implementation by targeting tedious manual tasks (e.g., check calls, data entry, carrier onboarding) for rapid, measurable ROI. Stability Over Startups: Partnering with existing, integrated tech vendors (like Descartes) ensures greater stability, expertise, and roadmap alignment than relying on new AI-only startups. Audit Your Current Tech: Before investing in new AI, ensure you are fully utilizing the latest features and integrations of your current mission-critical systems. Build Trust with Staff: Overcome internal resistance by layering AI into current workflows and establishing clear performance baselines (ROI) before deployment. Enhance What Works: The path to resilience is through strategically integrating AI into proven, existing workflows step-by-step, not by chasing every new technology trend. Organizer, writer, political commentator and Philly DSA member James Ray joins Bad Faith to help us understand camps and factions within the DSA as they fight to determine the direction the organization takes following it's successful primary season. As the Atlanta DSA launches a "Run AOC" campaign & Jacobin Magazine publishes reformist manifestos, James Ray represents the left flank of the DSA and one of it's more left-leaning chapters. On using leverage, leaving the Democratic Party, the incongruity of being pro-Palestine and supporting Hakeem Jeffries, & the mystifying reformism of much of the American left.
