Elaine is an old family friend and a journalist working in Nueva York for People magazine - i painted this crime reporter in the studio on the last day of the 2018-- this is pretty choppy recording with totally random tangents so hold on! 

Rosie Castro has dedicated her life to LA CAUSA.  She is a native to the westside of San Antonio.  She started her political activism young by being involved with The Free Angela Davis campaign, the Raza Unida Party, and of course with the Committee for Barrio Betterment.   In 1971 against all odds ran for city council with CBB, only to come in 2nd place among 4 other candidates.  In this episode Rosie talks about the history of how this city functioned under white-rule and the struggle for equal representation.  Rosie is also the mother of 2 men who are making huge waves to bring integrity to the nation.  It was a huge honor to have her in the studio.  

There are handful of folks working hard to boost the cool factor in Texas, one of those folks is cobra attacker Lorenzo Gomez.  He is the CEO of Geekdom and on team with the 80/20 Foundation.  Of course he has his hands in other projects, but whatever this is involved in just know it’s gonna be super RAD!!!  This recording was A M A Z I N G!!!! I invited Marisa Bono a year ago to sit for portrait and the conversation was mind blowing- Unfortunately i did not record her - but the convo was so enlightening that i had to invite her back with the intention of recording this ‘alley cat’ fighter--- Marrisa Bono is a lawyer under the office of San Antonio’s Mayor Ron Nirenberg 

The state of Texas is a hot bed for politics -- especially if your of Mexican descent  -- Celina Moreno is seasoned civil rights lawyer who shares her time in the trenches with MALDEF (mexican american legal defense fund) ----also this recording was done in the back corner of OCHO at the beautiful Hotel Havana in San Antonio, Texas --- we had the huitlacoche quesadillas---super yummy papita
