This is the podcast of the George Mitchell School English Department in Leyton, East London.
This podcast explores the following essay question: Compare and contrast the fate of the common soldier in the First World War with the role of the powers that be.
Amel, Daniyal and Monica discuss some songs inspired by the play, and explore how the lyrics either support or subvert our understanding of character or themes.
This is a simple podcast reading through the first wordvoodoo task of the new school year. Nothing fancy - but I thought it might help some of you...
This is perhaps the most dry and boring podcast so far (I think my tiredness comes across too strongly!) - but what it DOES do is go briefly through your sonnets and explain where the iambic rhythm has eluded you. Often it is just a question of shifting a word across the line by ONE syllable and this can make the world of difference.
In this podcast, I will go through each of your attempts at the Trochaic Quatrain (i.e. Task 4), pointing out where you went wrong, and where you got it spot on. I hope this will go even further to make it all make sense, and help you to produce your very first complete SONNET this coming week. Let me know if anything is unclear, or if you have any suggestions as to how the podcast could have been improved...
This is the first podcast to help members of the English Workshop with their wordvoodoo tasks. EITHER download it to your PC or your MP3 player; or simply listen to it online. Whichever you choose, you will need to have access to the wordvoodoo website whilst you do so. I hope it is useful! Any suggested improvements, just let me know. :)
