From the National Hurricane Center: Hurricane Michael strengthened overnight into a Category 4 storm LIFE-THREATENING STORM SURGE...HURRICANE FORCE WINDS...AND HEAVY RAINFALL IMMINENT
Hurricane Michael has gotten even stronger according to the 10 pm NHC update. The maximum sustained winds have increased from 120 mph to 125 mph. The minimum central pressure has dropped making the storm stronger to 947 millibars.
The National Hurricane Center has released the 7 p.m update on Hurricane Michael. The storm remains with maximum sustained winds of 120 mph and 953 millibars for the minimum central pressure.
Michael is a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Some additional strengthening is expected, and Michael is forecast to be a major hurricane at landfall in Florida. Weakening is expected after landfall as Michael moves through the southeastern United States.
