In dieser Folge sprechen wir über die Fragen, die ihr uns bei Instagram geschickt habt. Es geht um eure Vorsätze und Ziele für das neue Jahr. Warum scheitern gute Vorsätze so oft?

Today's guest is Kevin Secours. Kevin is a veteran martial arts coach, author, and former security professional with decades of experience across Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, Karate, and Russian Systema. Holding five black belts (including an 8th-dan), Kevin has worked extensively in real-world contexts while also teaching meditation, solo training, and strength rituals. He is the author of Rituals of Strength and Unconstrained, and is known for blending martial tradition, modern training theory, psychology, and philosophical inquiry into human development and resilience The conditioning and tempering of the body in striking sports can draw interesting parallels to collisions needed in jumping, sprinting and landing activities. We can also draw many lessons and ideas from the exercise tradition that goes back centuries with martial arts practice. By understanding combat training disciplines, we can draw out universal application for general movement and performance. In this episode, we explore the deeper purpose of physical training through martial arts and sport performance. Kevin reflects on early experiences with body hardening, cold exposure, and Zen-influenced practice, examining where such methods build resilience and where they become self-destructive. Drawing parallels to sprinting, jumping, and strength training, we discuss collisions, long isometric holds, ritualized discomfort, and fatigue as tools for cultivating awareness, reducing excess tension, and supporting longevity. Training should serve health and preparedness, not destroy the body you are trying to protect. Exposure must be progressive and intentional, not reckless. Body tension, trauma, and reading the athlete Chronic tension often reflects psychological history, not just physical limitations. Coaches should first understand an athlete's motive for training. Creating a safe and inclusive environment allows tension to unwind. Exhaustion can reveal new movement options and reduce overthinking. Isometrics, Soviet methods, and slow strength Long isometric holds build physical strength and mental resilience. Slow strength exposes weak links that fast movement can hide. Discomfort creates space for reflection and adaptability. Training methods were shaped by harsher living conditions and necessity. Journaling, drawing, and learning through reflection Writing and sketching reinforce learning more deeply than words alone. Stick figures and simple drawings improve memory and understanding. Documentation is a form of legacy and long term learning. Mindset, adaptability, and mental speed Adaptability in movement reflects adaptability in thinking. Exposure to opposing viewpoints builds cognitive flexibility. Speed is as much mental as it is physical. Ego and rigid beliefs limit learning and performance. Representativeness, ritual, and resilience Not all training must look like competition to have value. Ritual builds consistency and meaning in training. Resilience is a universal quality that transfers across contexts. Training should include experiences where the athlete loses and adapts. Simplify versus deconstruct in training Simplify first to preserve the integrity of the whole movement. Deconstruct only when specific limitations appear. Always return to full movement patterns after isolation. End sessions with success to reinforce confidence. Microdosing discomfort and daily resilience Small daily challenges build long term mental toughness. Discomfort activates the neural centers tied to willpower. Ritualized discomfort is more effective than occasional extremes. Resilience can be trained deliberately and safely. Comfort seeking and modern training challenges Humans naturally seek comfort when it is available. Modern environments require intentional exposure to challenge. Training should balance safety, stress, and adaptability. Long term growth comes from controlled adversity, not avoidance. Quotes from Kevin Secours “Motive matters more than method. The why has to be bigger than the how.” “Repetition does not make perfect. You can be perfectly bad at something.” “Every technique is like a snowflake. No two are the same.” “Resilience is the most universal commodity you have.” “The greatest relaxation comes from exhaustion.” “Training should not be trauma.” “If you quit midway, you are more likely to come back.” “We are comfort seekers.” About Kevin Secours Kevin Secours is a martial arts coach and author focused on practical skill development, resilience, and real-world application of movement and combat principles. Drawing from decades of training and coaching experience, his work bridges traditional martial arts, modern performance thinking, and personal development. Kevin is known for clear teaching, depth of insight, and an emphasis on adaptability, awareness, and lifelong practice.

True story: I forgot my car in a parking lot today. Made it all the way home. My wife asked "where's the jeep?" and my first thought was "oh shit, did someone steal it?" This isn't the first time I've forgotten a car. I have ADHD and level one autism, which means I get wildly obsessed with things I care about—it's why I learn things so quickly and see patterns in complex systems—but I also completely forget shit that's not in my focus. I've flown to the wrong cities, forgotten to eat all day, and yes, forgotten multiple cars. Extreme weaknesses always come with extreme strengths. I'm really good at systematizing complex sales models and building businesses, but I can't remember to take out the trash. This episode shares what I've learned at 45 after years of beating myself up trying to "fix" it: accepting it instead of fighting it, stopping the guilt, not trusting my memory (I tie hoodies around my waist as reminders), thinking in teams where people offset my weaknesses, and using tactics like walking, fidget toys, and no-device Sundays. I don't have this figured out—I just forgot a car—but I've created an environment where my business thrives, my marriage thrives, and I can focus on my superpowers. Sharing this in case it helps you too.//Welcome to Repeatable Revenue, hosted by strategic growth advisor , Ray J. One of the most challenging dilemmas for Christians who strongly believe in God as our Healer is when the healing or miracle we are believing for has not yet arrived. Even more difficult is when the healing did not come and the person we prayed for passed away. For too long, Charismatic Christians have awkwardly avoided this issue of how we are to respond when healing has not come. Extreme responses like bitterness toward God or blaming others for not having enough faith are tragic. This episode of Truth Shots walks us through some considerations for believers in how they respond when healing has not yet come.
In this episode, I'm sharing six healthy lessons I wish I had learned earlier in life—truths that would have saved me years of frustration, emotional eating cycles, and self-blame. These lessons shaped my journey toward a healthier mind, body, and spirit, and they may gently shift yours, too. This episode is especially for anyone who feels worn down from trying harder and is ready to abide and yield to God's timing, to their body's signals, and to a healthier way forward. In this episode, you'll learn: 1. Health isn't about control—it's about stewardship Your body isn't something to punish or dominate. It's something to care for with wisdom, patience, and respect. 2. Emotional eating is information, not failure Cravings and overeating are often signals—pointing to unmet needs, stress, exhaustion, or unprocessed emotions. 3. Quick fixes cost more than they promise Extreme diets and shortcuts may offer speed, but they often disrupt hormones, peace, and long-term health. 4. Consistency matters more than intensity Small, faithful habits practiced over time create more change than bursts of perfection. 5. Rest is not laziness—it's medicine Healing and weight regulation require nervous system safety, sleep, and margin, not constant striving. 6. Spiritual health and physical health are deeply connected When your spirit is overwhelmed or disconnected, the body often follows. True health integrates faith, food, thoughts, and daily rhythms. Many of us were taught to fight our bodies instead of listening to them. These six lessons invite a new approach—one rooted in compassion, clarity, and long-term freedom. If you're in midlife, feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or stuck in emotional eating patterns, this episode will meet you right where you are.

Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Sophie: Hi Stephen, I really appreciate all that you do and I was hoping you would be able to give me some much needed guidance. I was diagnosed with ventricular tachycardia last year and the only explanation the consultant could provide was it was due to a tiny scar on my heart. I had a ultrasound & an MRI and the results were fine, and my heart was structurally sound. I have taken the big 5 and nothing was out of the ordinary apart from high cortisol at night and candida. I consequently completed the CBO last year. I am currently on beta blockers to control the fast/erratic heartbeats. These do not work all the time. The consultant said my only other option is for them to preform an AF abrasion. What are your thoughts on this procedure, as I really want to get off the beta Blockers and find a natural alternative to fixing my heart. I have heard you talk about how Enzymes are good for the heart, is there one in particular that would help or anything else I can try? I really do not want to have the abrasion or carry on with the BB and am desperate to find a natural solution to fixing my symptoms. I am taking omega 3, magnesium-complex, VD + K2, vitamin c, b-complex, hawthorn, zinc, coq10 & taurine, is there anything else I should be taking to help. When my symptoms are at there worst, I get a big rush to the head and black out for a few seconds, whilst shaking. I have a clean diet, and do not smoke and have cut out alcohol, coffee & sugar, as I find any stimulant does not help, including over exercising. Please help, any advise would be greatly appreciated. Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral! Over the last year my cycle has gone from 28 days to 23–24 days, and my PMS symptoms have gotten extreme—like night sweats, heavy emotions, breast tenderness, and migraines right before my period. I'm only 34, so perimenopause feels early. Could this be stress-related, estrogen dominance, or something deeper? Thank you for all you do! Sarah: Hello dr C! Curious if you're familiar with the eating disorder Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)? I suffered with it from the age of 2 until 20 - eating nothing other than 2 "safe" foods which were very processed. I'm now 29 and can happily say I no longer suffer with this ED after years of work and eat ALL the foods (all healthy, organic, wholefoods). I'm worried if having this ED for this length of time and during my developing years has permanently impacted my health, specifically my digestion and my gut microbiome. I've drastically changed my life around, have done a bunch of your testing and protocols but still dealing with some issues and curious if my past means i'll never be able to reach optimal health? How resilient is the body? David: Hello Dr. Cabral, appreciate your work and dedication. I've been experiencing persistent muscle twitches throughout my body for about six months. My doctor says magnesium levels look "normal," but I know that doesn't always tell the full story. Could this be related to electrolytes, stress, or a nervous system imbalance? Any suggestions on testing or protocols to help calm the twitches would be appreciated. Tommy: Hi Dr. C, I'm so frustrated. I had a gut issue for a long time and only the healthy belly product kept it at bay. Stool test showed citrabacter Freudi which I ran before I had the digestive issues. I did 2 para protocols, then the CBO, and dealt with frequent urination all the way through. By week 8, my bowells were much better and things had improved, however, I had to stop the protocol there as I couldn't handle the supplements at a lower dose. 2 weeks later I picked up a stomach bug, and since then I'm back to square one. I'm working on CBT because I have a lot of trauma and I believe that's why I've been so succeptible to stomach issues. I'm considering another stool test but the only issue is, what can I do about the result if I can't handle so many herbs and supplements I feel stuc Thank you for tuning into this weekend's Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right! - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/3607 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. Cabral's Book: The Rain Barrel Effect - - - Join the Community & Get Your Questions Answered: CabralSupportGroup.com - - - Dr. Cabral's Most Popular At-Home Lab Tests: > Complete Minerals & Metals Test (Test for mineral imbalances & heavy metal toxicity) - - - > Complete Candida, Metabolic & Vitamins Test (Test for 75 biomarkers including yeast & bacterial gut overgrowth, as well as vitamin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Mood & Metabolism Test (Discover your complete thyroid, adrenal, hormone, vitamin D & insulin levels) - - - > Complete Food Sensitivity Test (Find out your hidden food sensitivities) - - - > Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Test (Discover your levels of inflammation related to your omega-6 to omega-3 levels) - - - Get Your Question Answered On An Upcoming HouseCall: StephenCabral.com/askcabral - - - Would You Take 30 Seconds To Rate & Review The Cabral Concept? Niels and Cem reflect on a year marked by concentration, confidence, and growing structural fragility beneath calm markets. They examine extreme positioning, record low cash levels, and the quiet dominance of reflexive flows over fundamentals. Cem challenges common readings of volatility, explains where real fear hides in options markets, and outlines why tail exposure becomes critical late in cycles. The discussion broadens into portfolio construction, questioning the legacy of 60/40 investing and the illusion of diversification built during falling-rate decades. Grounded in history, market structure, and political cycles, this conversation offers a disciplined framework for navigating regimes where leverage, policy, and inequality quietly redefine risk.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Cem on Twitter.Episode TimeStamps: 00:00 - Introduction to the Systematic Investor Series00:49 - Geopolitical tensions beneath the surface of markets02:07 - Extreme bullish sentiment and record low cash levels04:12 - Margin use, positioning, and why this setup is fragile06:07 - Why the VIX fails as a true fear indicator11:48 - Buffett's concentration and risk management through quality16:27 - Leverage, Sharpe ratios, and misunderstood diversification21:02 - Trend following performance and late year positioning23:48 - Positioning, reflexivity, and market microstructure28:25 - Volatility traps and convexity before stress events31:06...

In this incredibly powerful interview, I sit down with Amelia, who recovered from anorexia, severe OCD, and suicidal ideation after spending 7 years in the UK mental health system. She shares the brutal reality of inpatient treatment, being misdiagnosed, having her autonomy stripped away, and ultimately recovering completely on her own terms. Now 20 years old, she's travelling the world - something that would have been impossible in her eating disorder. This episode is essential for anyone stuck in the system, anyone told they'll never recover, and anyone who needs proof that full recovery IS possible.Key Quotes from the Episode:
We ask why veg is always a loss leader at this time of year, and whether farmers suffer as a result. For the price of a first class stamp you could buy 21 kilos of carrots if you head to one of the discount supermarkets. The stamp would cost you £1.70, the carrots are on sale at 8p for a kilo. Who takes the hit?Extreme weather events mean it's become hard to predict how farmed poultry will turn out come Christmas. We meet an organic farmer in Devon whose birds are smaller following the hot, dry summer. And should the old grand houses that dot our countryside be regarded as vital heritage which must be preserved? Or are there other ways of dealing with them? All this week we're looking into what the future may hold for historic buildings in rural areas. Presented by Caz Graham and produced by Sally Challoner.
Aurelius Systems is tackling one of defense's most critical challenges: cost-effective counter-drone warfare. The company builds lightweight, edge-deployed laser weapon systems with 10-million-x marginal cost advantages over traditional interceptors—shooting down drones for approximately 10 cents versus $2 million per Sea Sparrow missile. With systems priced in hundreds of thousands rather than tens of millions of dollars, Aurelius is proving that commercial manufacturing principles can revolutionize defense technology. In this episode of BUILDERS, I sat down with Michael LaFramboise, CEO and Co-Founder of Aurelius Systems, to unpack how his background spanning automotive manufacturing at Chrysler, R&D at Coherent (the largest U.S. laser manufacturer), and defense sales positioned him to build what he calls "the F150 of directed energy systems." Topics Discussed: Why Michael's unusual combination of heavy industrial manufacturing, high-power laser R&D, and directed energy sales made him one of "probably like five people under 70 in the country" positioned to build this company Aurelius's contrarian R&D thesis: build everything from commercial off-the-shelf components first, only upgrading to bespoke when field tests fail The tactical fundraising progression: first prototype to pre-seed, DIU grant in February 2025, Singapore Defense Force joint challenge, Army X-Tech competition wins Government relations as infrastructure: why Aurelius retained a lobbyist six months post-pre-seed and how Congressional support addresses 1-3 year sales cycles Navigating the DOD acquisitions reorg: 100+ technology acceleration organizations consolidating to 10-20 under new PAE structure, with goals of 90-day turnarounds replacing multi-year cycles The demonstration strategy that changed everything: earning signed memorandums from high-ranking officers after shooting down drones in Hawaii and Austin under adversarial conditions (heavy rain, 99% humidity, heat warping, night operations) Founder-led marketing ROI: why acquisitions officers, funders, and engineering talent all follow different channels (LinkedIn vs. X) and require different voices The three-stakeholder sales complexity: when your end user (warfighter), purchaser (acquisitions), and budget authorizer (Congress) are separate entities who don't communicate GTM Lessons For B2B Founders: Follow proven playbooks in specialized markets, then execute obsessively: Michael explicitly followed Anduril's early-stage defense playbook, particularly around government relations: "I think it's like following the Anduril playbook for how you do an early stage defense company is probably a very appropriate thing to do." In highly specialized B2B markets (defense, healthcare, financial services), pattern-match to companies that have successfully navigated regulatory and procurement complexity rather than inventing process from scratch. The differentiation comes from execution and technology, not from reinventing go-to-market structure. Treat specialized expertise as infrastructure, not overhead: Aurelius hired a lobbyist six months after their pre-seed—before significant revenue—because defense sales involve three disconnected stakeholders. Michael explained: "your purchaser, your end user, and your authorizer for funds are all separate people that don't know each other... whenever you have these different points, it doesn't expand linearly the difficulty or the complexity of the sales cycle. It expands exponentially." B2B founders should map stakeholder complexity early and staff accordingly. If your buyer doesn't control budget, your user doesn't make purchase decisions, or your champion needs internal air cover, these aren't edge cases—they're your sales model. Demonstration beats documentation when overcoming category skepticism: After decades of directed energy failures, Aurelius spent 2024 conducting nationwide field demonstrations, culminating in adversarial drone shoot-downs in heavy rain, 99% humidity, and night conditions. Michael noted they needed to "clean up the mess that a lot of these other companies have created" with signed memorandums from high-ranking officers. When your category has a failure history, customer education isn't about better pitch decks—it's about systematic proof that eliminates objections through witnessed performance. Plan for demonstration costs and timeline in your first-year budget. Build your R&D thesis around manufacturing reality, not engineering perfection: Aurelius's core principle: build everything from commercial off-the-shelf components, upgrading only when field tests fail. Michael's insight from automotive and laser manufacturing: "you can get 80-90% physics perfection on a system for 2% of the cost" versus traditional directed energy's approach of "400 ARL and AFRL PhDs all coming together to make the most super bespoke, hyper perfect thing ever." They use material processing lasers (identical output at 1/10th the cost of directed energy lasers) and commercial components from automotive supply chains. B2B founders should define their "good enough" threshold explicitly and build cost structure around it—perfection is often the enemy of scalability and margin. Attack market dislocations where wrong-fit solutions reveal unmet needs: Aurelius doesn't compete with Sea Sparrow missiles for shooting down aircraft at 9 miles—they target the dislocation where $2M missiles designed for large ordinance are being misused against $500 drones with 30% effectiveness. Michael identified that "there isn't anything in the market that's been developed for counter drone at any significant distance." The opportunity isn't better missiles; it's purpose-built solutions for Group 1 and Group 2 drones (FPV quadcopters and small planes) where no appropriate system exists. Map where customers are forced to use expensive, inappropriate solutions—that's where new categories emerge. // Sponsors: Front Lines — We help B2B tech companies launch, manage, and grow podcasts that drive demand, awareness, and thought leadership. www.FrontLines.io The Global Talent Co. — We help tech startups find, vet, hire, pay, and retain amazing marketing talent that costs 50-70% less than the US & Europe. www.GlobalTalent.co // Don't Miss: New Podcast Series — How I Hire Senior GTM leaders share the tactical hiring frameworks they use to build winning revenue teams. Extreme inequality and democratic decline aren't separate crises—they're the same crisis. This week, Osita Nwanevu joins Paul and Goldy to explain how America's constitutional design, corporate power, and decades of upward redistribution have eroded both political and economic freedom. He outlines what real democratic governance would mean inside government and at work, why the concentration of wealth threatens stability, and how a long-term movement for a more representative system could finally deliver the policies most Americans want. Osita Nwanevu is a journalist and political writer whose work focuses on democracy, governance, and the intersection of politics and power in America. His reporting and essays have appeared in The New Republic, The New Yorker, Slate, and The New York Times. He is the author of The Right of the People, a sweeping examination of why American democracy is faltering and what it would take to build a more just, inclusive, and genuinely democratic society. In Episode 6.4, Scott De Long and Vince Moiso examine the warrior mentality in leadership and question whether it remains relevant or should evolve. They discuss how determination, accountability, and passion can fuel performance when balanced with empathy and collaboration. Vince shares that his warrior mindset is about perseverance and effort, not domination. Scott agrees that drive and ownership matter, but warns that the win-at-all-costs mindset can harm culture and relationships if unchecked. They agree that great leaders fight alongside their teams, not above them. The warrior spirit should inspire commitment and resilience, tempered by compassion and humility. Key Takeaways Resilience and drive are essential, but empathy sustains leadership. The warrior mentality must evolve from control to collaboration. Leaders win by inspiring, not intimidating, their teams. Key Insights The modern warrior leads with love, not fear. Extreme ownership must be paired with humility and care. Toxic win-at-all-costs leadership is unsustainable. True warriors build trust through action and support. Adaptability separates effective warriors from rigid ones. Empathy transforms intensity into inspiration. Accountability should empower, not punish. A leader's warrior energy is best used to lift others. Passion and compassion are equally vital in leadership. Ask yourself: When does your warrior emerge, and does it serve your team?
