Have you ever wondered what it looks like for a life to finish well? Deuteronomy chapter 34 gives us one of the most beautiful conclusions to a story in all of Scripture. Moses, the servant of the Lord, reaches the end of his journey, and God Himself brings him to the top of Mount Nebo to see the Promised Land that lay before Israel. Moses had led faithfully, prayed boldly, interceded passionately, and walked closely with God. And at the end of his life, God honored him in a way that belongs only to those who know Him deeply. This chapter reminds us that the true measure of a life is not what we accomplish but how well we walk with God. It shows us the compassion of a God who stays with His people to the very end and the faithfulness of a servant who finished the work God gave him. Join us in this episode of the Woman at the Well Ministries podcast as we explore the life, legacy, and final moments of Moses and focus on Deuteronomy 34:10, which says, “There arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face.” Let's discover together what it means to finish well, to walk closely with God, and to trust Him in every season of life. We explore the inconsistent history of the political slogan "America First." We are joined by environmental sociologist and Black Alliance for Peace Comrade, Kim Miller. We delve into the earliest documentation of America First including its use by the nativist "Know Nothing" party in 1855, tracing its evolution through various eras of American policy. Then we examine how the Monroe Doctrine coincides with sentiments. The discussion also covers its contemporary applications, such as in Secretary of State Marco Rubio's "Americas First Foreign Policy," particularly concerning Venezuela. By defining key concepts like nationalism, non-interventionism, and anti-imperialism, we seek to understand the various meanings—or lack thereof—that have been attached to "America First" throughout American history. Kimberly Dawn Miller is an environmental sociologist who holds a PhD in Global Studies with a concentration in Sociology from Florida International University. Her dissertation, Ecotourism Development in the Nature Isle: Navigating the Politics of Eco-Cultural Sovereignty in Dominica, examines the intersections of ecotourism, post-disaster reconstruction, Indigenous cultural revival, and sustainable land-use politics in the Eastern Caribbean. https://www.patreon.com/c/blackmyths

Have you ever needed a reminder that God doesn't just lead His people — He loves them, protects them, and holds them close? Deuteronomy chapter 33 is Moses' final blessing over the tribes of Israel, spoken just before his death, and it is overflowing with the tender, faithful love of God. It is a chapter filled with hope, promise, identity, and blessing. As Moses reviews the journey of the Israelites, he reminds them that they are a people loved by God, carried by God, and held in His hand. And in our key verse, Deuteronomy 33:3, we read these powerful words: “Yea, he loved the people; all his saints are in thy hand.” This chapter shows us a God who goes before His people, fights for them, shelters them, and promises them a future. And just as He blessed the tribes of Israel, He continues to bless, guide, and guard His people today. Have you ever needed a reminder of just how faithful God has been in your life? Deuteronomy chapter 32 is exactly that. It is a song of remembrance, a call to worship, and a warning wrapped into one powerful chapter. Known as The Song of Moses, this passage was given so the Israelites would rehearse it, remember it, and carry it with them from generation to generation. In this chapter, Moses paints an incredible picture of who God is -  our Rock, perfect in His work, just in all His ways, and faithful even when we are not. He calls the people to look back and reflect on God's goodness, His deliverance, His provision, and His protection. But he also warns them about the dangers of forgetting God, of complacency, and of turning to other gods. Deuteronomy 32 teaches us that remembering God fuels our worship, strengthens our obedience, and anchors our hearts in truth. It reminds us that God alone gives life, heals, restores, and rescues. And it ends with a sober call, that God's Word is not a small thing. It is our life. Join us for this episode of the Woman at the Well Ministries podcast as we look at Deuteronomy chapter 32 and focus on verse 4: “He is the Rock, his work is perfect; for all his ways are judgment. A God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.” Let's discover together what it means to serve a God who is unchanging, unwavering, and always worthy of our trust. As Moses prepares to leave the people he has shepherded for forty years, he speaks words that every believer needs to hear: “Be strong and of a good courage… for the Lord thy God goes with you.” This chapter is a reminder that even when seasons shift, God remains faithful. Moses passes leadership to Joshua, but the real Leader -the Lord Himself - never changes. The people of God are called to courage, not because life is easy, but because God is present. In this episode of Woman at the Well Ministries, Erika Klose teaches from Deuteronomy chapter 31 and focuses on verse 6, a verse filled with strength, comfort, and promise: “He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Join us as we learn how to face life's transitions with confidence, how to anchor our hearts in the Word of God, and how to trust the Lord who goes before us, walks beside us, and keeps His promises to the very end. Have you ever felt like hearing from God was hard — like His Word was distant or His will was out of reach? Deuteronomy chapter 30 reminds us that God's Word isn't far away. It isn't hidden in heaven or buried deep in mystery. It's near — in our mouths and in our hearts — so that we can know it, live it, and walk in it every single day. In this chapter, Moses calls the people of Israel to return to God with all their hearts. He reminds them that even after failure and exile, God's mercy is greater than their mistakes. When they turn back to Him, He promises restoration, renewal, and blessing. This chapter also reminds us that obedience isn't complicated. God has already given us everything we need to follow Him — His Word, His Spirit, and His love. The question is not how far away God is, but whether our hearts are willing to listen. Join us for this episode of the Woman at the Well Ministries podcast as Erika Klose walks through Deuteronomy chapter 30 to remember the nearness of God — and what it means to live every day with His Word written on our hearts. Have you ever wondered why God doesn't show us everything at once? Deuteronomy chapter 29 reminds us that while some things remain hidden in the heart of God, He has revealed more than enough for us to trust, obey, and live faithfully. This chapter is all about covenant — a covenant renewed, remembered, and reaffirmed. The Israelites were standing on the edge of the Promised Land, and Moses called them to renew their promise to walk in obedience and to keep God at the center of their hearts. Every man, woman, and child was invited to recommit to the Lord, to turn away from idols, and to live as a people set apart. Deuteronomy 29:29, says, “The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.” This verse calls us to a simple but powerful truth — we don't have to understand everything to obey completely. God has revealed what we need to know in His Word, and the rest we can safely leave in His hands. Join us for this episode of Woman at the Well Ministries as Erika Klose teaches from Deuteronomy chapter 29, reminding us that true faith is built on trust, that obedience flows from love, and that God's revealed truth is always enough. Have you ever experienced the overwhelming goodness of God when you simply chose to obey Him? Deuteronomy chapter 28 paints one of the most vivid pictures in all of Scripture of what it means to live under the blessing of obedience. As the Israelites prepared to enter the Promised Land, God gave them this promise: “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God… all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee.” — Deuteronomy 28:1–2 In this chapter, Moses reminds God's people that their obedience would bring blessings so abundant that they would overflow into every part of life — blessings in their homes, in their work, in their families, and in their future. But he also warns that disobedience would bring sorrow, loss, and despair. For those of us living on this side of the cross, the message is the same: obedience brings blessing. Not because we earn God's love, but because walking in His ways keeps us close to His heart. Join us for this episode of Woman at the Well Ministries as Erika Klose teaches from Deuteronomy chapter 28 and explores how listening to the Lord and walking in obedience still leads to joy, peace, and overflowing blessing today. Have you ever thought about what it really means to live out your faith — not just to believe in your heart, but to let your obedience show to the world around you? In Deuteronomy chapter 27, Moses reminds the Israelites that faith was never meant to be hidden. As they prepared to enter the Promised Land, God called them to demonstrate their faith in visible ways — to write His law on stones, to build an altar of worship, and to proclaim their obedience for all to see. This chapter is about faith that acts, obedience that speaks, and hearts that are devoted to God in both word and deed. In a world that often values comfort over conviction, Deuteronomy 27 calls us back to a faith that is lived out loud — a faith that obeys. Join us in this episode of Woman at the Well Ministries as Erika Klose walks through Deuteronomy chapter 27. Let's learn together how obedience flows from faith and how a life of visible devotion gives glory to God. Did you enjoy this podcast? Post a review and share it! Have you ever noticed how gratitude transforms the way we see God's blessings? Deuteronomy chapter 26 gives us a beautiful picture of what it means to live a life of thanksgiving—one that flows from a heart of obedience and worship. This chapter opens with the Israelites bringing their firstfruits before the Lord—a visible reminder that every good thing comes from Him. As they placed their baskets before the altar, they weren't just offering crops; they were offering praise, remembering God's deliverance, His provision, and His faithfulness. Moses calls them to rejoice in every good thing—to worship, to give thanks, and to live generously toward others. From the offering of the firstfruits to the tithe that cared for the Levite, the stranger, the orphan, and the widow, this chapter reminds us that worship and obedience are never separate. True worship always leads to gratitude, generosity, and joy. Join us for this episode of the Woman at the Well Ministries Podcast as Erika Klose teaches from Deuteronomy chapter 26 and focuses on verse 11: “And thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the Lord thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thine house, thou, and the Levite, and the stranger that is among you.” Let's rediscover the joy of thankful living—the kind of life that honors God, blesses others, and rejoices in every good thing He has done.   Did you enjoy this podcast? We're so glad you've joined us today as we continue our journey through the Book of Deuteronomy. In this episode, we'll be diving into Deuteronomy chapter 25 — a chapter filled with lessons about justice, honesty, and obedience. This is the final chapter in Deuteronomy that focuses on the laws God gave the Israelites to help them live in holiness and community. From fair judgment and honest business dealings to caring for family and neighbors, this chapter reminds us that God is concerned with every part of our lives. Our key verse comes from Deuteronomy 25:15, which says, “But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” This verse points us to the heart of God — a God who values fairness, integrity, and obedience. As we walk through these verses together, we'll be reminded that God still calls His people to live with honesty, compassion, and holiness. Did you enjoy this podcast? Post a review and share it! Deuteronomy chapter 24 reminds us that God's commands were always rooted in compassion and relationship. Every instruction in this chapter, whether about marriage, lending, justice, or caring for the poor, was given to help the Israelites live rightly with God and with one another. God wanted His people to remember their past, to remember that they were once slaves in Egypt, and to let that memory shape their actions toward others. As believers, we too are called to remember where we came from. We were once in bondage to sin, but through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we have been redeemed and set free. Our remembrance of what God has done for us should overflow in how we treat others—with kindness, fairness, and love. When we live with compassion and integrity, we honor both our Redeemer and the freedom He has given us. Did you enjoy this podcast? Post a review and share it! Deuteronomy 23 is filled with laws that may, at first glance, seem far removed from our daily lives. Yet within these verses we find God's heart for His people and His desire for them to live holy lives in community with one another. The Israelites were about to enter the Promised Land after centuries in Egypt and years of wandering in the wilderness. They needed clear guidance to establish a society that honored the Lord. This chapter addresses many areas of life. It sets boundaries for who could join the congregation of the Lord, gives instructions for keeping the camp holy and clean, offers direction for dealing with slaves who sought refuge, and forbids prostitution and sexual immorality. It also includes guidelines about lending money, making vows, and being generous with neighbors. At its heart, the chapter emphasizes purity, holiness, and respect for others. Though we live on this side of the cross, the principles in this chapter still apply to us. God desires that His people be holy, that we live in integrity, and that our lives be marked by generosity and love. Deuteronomy 23 reminds us that God walks in our midst, and just as the Israelite camp was to be holy, our lives are to be holy as we welcome His presence. Did you enjoy this podcast? Deuteronomy 22 is rich with detailed instructions that, at first glance, may seem far removed from our daily lives. Yet every commandment in this chapter shows the heart of a God who cares about how His people live together in community. Moses addressed a generation preparing to enter the Promised Land. These were people who had spent centuries in Egypt and many years wandering in the wilderness, exposed to pagan practices and other cultures. They needed clear direction on how to establish a society that honored the Lord. This chapter ranges from very practical matters, such as caring for a neighbor's livestock or building a safe house, to deeply personal matters of purity, marriage, and sexual morality. In every case God's purpose is evident. His people are to live in holiness, protect and respect one another, and show compassion to all creation. Verse 4 captures this heart of neighborly responsibility, calling us to help those around us and to care for what belongs to others. “Thou shalt not see thy brother's ass or his ox fall down by the way, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again” (Deuteronomy 22:4). Though we now live on this side of the cross and are not bound by the ceremonial law, the principles behind these instructions still guide us. God desires that we be good neighbors, value purity and honesty, and treat every part of His creation with care and respect. Deuteronomy 22 reminds us that God's law is not just about rules; it is about love for Him and love for others. Did you enjoy this podcast? Post a review and share it! Find the complete show notes here:  https://watwm.podbean.com/. The world would lead you to believe that love is easy and love is cheap. In the course of even casual conversations, you can hear people say, "I love you," even to almost strangers. We hear it on television. We read about it in books. We read glitzy stories about it in magazines. The phrase "I love you" is popular in our culture but rarely lived out in our lives. The way we love one another is in direct correlation to how we love Jesus. He said that we are to love one another, and that people would know we are His disciples because we have love for one another. God is love, so when we enter into a relationship with Him, we receive the love that is within Him, and that love pulses through our veins. We can truly love unconditionally, completely, and honestly. Earthly relationships that are healthy and sincere give us glimpses of the love God gives us, demonstrates to us, and the love that flows through us. My relationship with Jesus gives me an others-centered focus, which puts me in alignment with God and creates the best possible scenario for me. Come join Kim as she takes us on a journey discovering how to live "I love you" with a love that never fails! Have you ever faced a battle that seemed bigger than you? Deuteronomy chapter 20 reminds us that for God's people, battles were never a matter of if but when. The Israelites would face enemies with more horses, more chariots, and more soldiers — yet they had something far greater: the presence of the Lord their God and the memory of His past victories. In this chapter, Moses teaches the people how to go to war God's way: with courage, with order, with compassion, and with faith. From the priest's encouragement before battle, to the exemptions for those not ready to fight, to the command to speak peace before raising the sword, and even to the stewardship of fruit trees, we see that God's instructions were never about destruction for destruction's sake — they were about preserving life, guarding holiness, and trusting Him. Join us for this episode of the Woman at the Well Ministries podcast as Erika Klose walks through Deuteronomy 20 and reminds us that in our daily battles we are never alone. The Lord goes with us, His desire for us is peace, and His love sustains us through every challenge. Did you enjoy this podcast? Post a review and share it!
