A podcast hosted by Toronto based classical singers, Diana Agasian and Stefan Vidovic, who sit down with their artistic friends and discuss the influence of music and art on their own personal growth, as well as the world around them. Funny anecdotes and joshes are thrown around as well!
We celebrate Fathers Day and the end of Gemini season with a review of Lorde's comeback single 'Solar Power' and Olivia Rodrigo's debut album, 'SOUR' (2021). Intro song: "brutal" Closing song: "jealousy, jealousy"
This week, friend and avid listener of the pod Noah (@noahgrove_) joins us to discuss Amy Winehouse's debut record, 'Frank' (2003). We define the "student album," discuss the relationship between trauma and songwriting, and, in the immortal words of Miss Winehouse, ask ourselves: "Are you gay?" (Yes.)
(Sorry but) We're back, and this time with our good friend and resident lesbian expert Alejo (@laceration_thirst). Grab a glass of Lillet and join us as we discuss the 2021 Grammy Awards and review Lana Del Rey's new album, Chemtrails Over the Country Club. Intro song: "White Dress" Closing song: "Chemtrails Over the Country Club"
Still hanging out in B.C., we invited Diana's sister, Marina (@marina_ballerina), to join us for this episode to talk about her feature on Sampson Mews's latest EP 'Flutter' (2020). We also redeem our banal Spotify 2020 wrapped playlists by sharing our true favourite artists/albums from last year. You can find 'Flutter' here: https://linktr.ee/SampsonMews?fbclid=IwAR10Rxz8dPXW9g8c8xcqvPJtTgjzRRAGxvn919Zbnsqh4pPFFbH-5wDXElE
This week, we take to the beautiful B.C. mountains (Diana's sister's apartment) and review Omar Apollo's 'Apolonio' (2020), recommended to us by Art (@artyrambo). Diana has finally started revising her sex playlist (thanks to Omar and his sensual tunes) and Stefan is wondering where all of the top representation is in queer music.
We review one of Diana's dad's favourite albums, Steely Dan's 'Katy Lied' (1975). Also on the docket: Do we say 'like' too much? What is rock music? Is it possible to make an orthotic at home? Why is Saskatoon the name of a real city?
This week, we talk about C-sections, hernias and the ideal birthing positions. This has nothing to do with this weeks album, The Lumineers' III, recommended to us by Stefan's sister, Kat (@kat_vidovic). We eventually (sowwy) get to their record and accompanying film.
For this week's episode, Zabrina (@zabrinamusic) asked us to review Thundercat's 'It Is What It Is' (2020). Stefan is only a night away from getting one of his vital (?) organs removed and Diana's revising her sex playlist.
For our first episode, we review Björk's Debut (1993). Stefan has a shopping addiction and Diana just wants Dispensary Guy to give her a call.
Stefan and Diana sit down to discuss the CO-VID19 pandemic and review the Netflix hit series 'Love is Blind'.
Stefan and Diana sit down and discuss Tapestry Opera's world premiere of 'Jacqueline' and the complexities presented within modern opera. They listen to and review Lady Gaga's new single 'Stupid Love' and theorize over how Gaga will present herself during this new era. Finally, they review the recent news released about Harvey Weinstein and some of the drawbacks that accompany the #MeToo movement. After some long contemplation, I'm uploading another episode that I recorded with my good friend Royce back in October. I thought about not uploading it because so much time had passed since it was recorded, but listening back to it made me realize how lovely of a chat this was. I wanted others to hear the conversation Royce and I had about balancing one's life, particularly as a musician with a busy lifestyle, as I think it is a pertinent topic to continue to raise awareness for. We discuss hustle culture and how that sort of lifestyle is unsustainable and realistically, very unhealthy. Royce Richert is a very accomplished violinist whose musicianship I deeply admire. He continues to perform around the GTA and is very active on Instagram. If you'd like to check out his content, please follow the link down below to his page: https://www.instagram.com/roycerichmusical/ As always, I hope you enjoy and take something valuable away from our discussion! Thank you for listening! -Di
Bridget Esler is a very dear friend of mine who I love and respect immensely! I made sure to sit down and chat with her during a weekend trip I took to Montréal where her and her roomies very kindly offered to house me for my time there. Bridget and I have been pals for quite some time now, and we discuss the history of our friendship in this episode. We also talk about the upcoming federal election, Justin Trudeau being involved in some very questionable scandals and, just like the title proclaims, our love for kombucha, flowy pants, birkenstocks, and all things related to the west coast. I hope you all enjoy this little diddy and I will be back with another episode very soon! - Di
