The illustrious Tim Lauer graced us with an evening of stories, and we are so pleased to share it with you. We have a great show put together for you guys. Follow this link to hear Tim's tale: https://youtu.be/_9xUUUqGgYE Tim's career is impossible to summarize in a short paragraph. He has touched so much music that it's pretty unlikely that you've not encountered his work. At the time of this filming, the TV show Nashville was winding down, and he was the Executive Music Producer for its last two seasons. He's currently in the same role for ABC's flagship Big Sky. In this episode, Tim walks us from growing up as a missionary kid in Japan through an adolescence in rural Wisconsin to finding his place in Nashville (and really, the international music industry). Tim's incredible insight was a brilliant listen for us, and we are delighted to share this episode with you. You learn more about Tim and his work here: https://www.timlauermusic.com/ ***About Music City Listeners*** If you are an engineer or a producer, or if you want to become an engineer or producer, this series is for you. By way of true stories, we'll hear various answers to the burning question, "how do I make it in the music industry?" And you'll know that you're hearing true answers because they won't be tidy and contrived. You might just learn that you're not alone in your self doubt and your strained, long-suffering pursuit. Gather round. Let's learn from these listeners who have gone before us. They have heard a lot, and they have some stories of their own to tell. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/musiccitylisteners/support

Cason Cooley hails from Wichita, Kansas, and in this episode, we'll trace his journey from his upbringing on the road with his parents to producing major pop singles like "Girls Chase Boys" by Ingrid Michaelson. That's a journey from the Grammy winning Southern Gospel group, The Cathedral Quartet, through the maze of early adolescence, basketball injuries, a partial college education, and a launch into playing on and producing records. We really enjoyed our chat with Cason, and more than that, we've enjoyed countless songs he's made. Join us, won't you, and take a listen. Shane D. Wilson :: Music City Listeners :: Ep 1

There's cutting edge, and then there's bleeding edge. The great engineer Shane D. Wilson joined me on the bleeding edge for the first foray into Music City Listeners on February 22, 2017. Here, Shane tells us how he came to be in Nashville and how he progressed through the ranks in the ever changing music industry. I love hearing Shane's passion come through in this. His mixes have always had a way of moving me... making me want to dance (badly, of course)... and hearing him talk about his art makes that phenomenon make a lot of sense. Shane is uniquely tuned in on an emotional level that most of us can't reach, and his mixes, well, they take us there. ***About Music City Listeners*** If you are an engineer or a producer, or if you want to become an engineer or producer, this series is for you.
