Our Times with Scott & Nedra Ross

Our Times Hosts Scott and Nedra Ross celebrate Black History Month by sharing their roots and experiences with race and racism in America. Featured in episode four of Our Times is a memorable interview with Alex Haley the author of Roots: The Saga of an American Family.

In Episode 3 of “Our Times”, hosts Scott and Nedra Ross visit the streets of Nashville to talk with folks about their Thanksgiving traditions. They reminisce about giant turkeys and a mum who was culinarily challenged. In this podcast, they'll also revisit a historic interview with The Man in Black, the legendary Johnny Cash.

Commemorating the 16th anniversary of 9/11, the hosts of Our Times with Scott and Nedra Ross revisit Scott's experiences at Ground Zero. Few journalists are also ordained ministers like Scott. His dual role as reporter and pastor served him well when he was permitted special credentialed access to Ground Zero on what became known to the 1st Responders simply as “the pile.” For more than twenty days, Scott filed special reports from the smoldering pit alongside the 1st Responders who waded through mangled steel and pulverized concrete tinged with cremated flesh. Often times, Scott's fact collecting or interviews were combined with gut-wrenching ministry to and prayer with the 1stResponders that were pulling nothing but small body parts from the rubble. Firefighter Chaplain Bruce Porter joins the podcast to share his experiences on “the pile.”

Our Times revisits one of Scott's original interviews with World Trade Center survivor, Sujo John, and in an updated interview Scott and Nedra explore how 9/11 altered Sujo's life forever. Sujo survived the World Trade Center collapse, and now has dedicated his life to rescuing women out of sex trafficking in red light districts around the world.
