American photographer Joel Meyerowitz talks to John Wilson about his cultural influences and formative experiences. A pioneer of the artform, he first began capturing life on the streets of his native New York in the early 1960s, and helped to establish colour photography as a fine-art medium. After travelling throughout Europe he made his name with a groundbreaking show at the Museum of Modern Art in 1968. Following the attacks on the World Trade Centre in 2001, Joel Meyerowitz became the only photographer to secure access to Ground Zero and, over several months, captured the scenes of devastation. On September 11, 2001, John Kostick was working as an electrician on the 39th floor of Tower One. He got out. Then he went back and spent the next 12 to 18 months at Ground Zero doing rescue and recovery.He carried it for decades: the smoke, the smells, the horrors. Then came the physical toll. 2,753 people died at the World Trade Center site on September 11th, 2001, including members of the FDNY and NYPD, and hundreds who were working in the towers or visiting that day, plus the crew and passengers of the two hijacked planes that struck the buildings. We wanted to remember the real people behind those numbers. And for that, Jill spoke to Erin Jackman, whose sister Brooke Jackman had just turned 23 when she was killed on September 11th. She was working on the 104th floor of the North Tower at Cantor Fitzgerald, a job she had only started two months earlier. Erin recalls the frantic search for Brooke in the hours and weeks after the attacks, including her family's visits to hospitals and putting up missing-person posters near Ground Zero. She also shares who Brooke was beyond the attack: a devoted sister and friend, an avid reader, and an aspiring social worker whose memory inspired her family to create the Brooke Jackman Foundation, a children's literacy nonprofit providing books, school supplies, and family literacy programs. Having just returned from my annual visit to New York City, riding in a mobile billboard truck playing my latest music video for the Anniversary of 9/11, I had some epiphanies that I'm compelled to share. As The Terrorist Therapist® for the past 25 years, helping people cope with terrorism in America, London, Manchester, Paris and Israel, and warning that the threat is far from over, I found new meaning in the motto “Never Forget!” In the shadow of September 11, 2001, we swore to each other we would “Never Forget,” meaning originally that we would never forget the people who died, the heroes who swooped in and the love we felt for America. But, 25 years later, the memory has dimmed and too many Americans have forgotten the most important part: Terrorists wanted to destroy America - and they STILL DO! Osama bin Laden's son hasn't forgotten. He reportedly faked his death and is planning another attack. Yet we have Mamdani, a terrorist mayor in NYC, who refused to stay away from the Ground Zero ceremony, though he believes we “deserved" 9/11, and terrorists running for office all over America. Indeed, the Democratic party-an infusion of terrorists pseudo-bonding with Marxists-is gathering steam because we've forgotten! When thousands of people were running from the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, Michael Dorian made the decision to run toward it. But Michael's story began long before that day. Born into poverty to a teenage mother, Michael grew up in an unstable home and spent much of his early life searching for independence, acceptance, and belonging. As a teenager, that search led him into crime and prostitution and, at just 16 years old, an HIV diagnosis. But a relationship with someone who saw more in Michael helped change the trajectory of his life. He graduated high school, went to college, built a career as a veterinary technician, and began creating a very different future for himself. In this episode, Neil Adams joins Chuck to share the extraordinary life of his close friend and the story behind his book, From the Pile. Neil recounts Michael's decision to put on his scrubs and make his way to Ground Zero on 9/11, where he spent 24 hours on the pile helping firefighters continue their rescue efforts. Years later, Michael was diagnosed with stage four cancer and given two years to live, beginning another fight that would ultimately connect back to his service at Ground Zero. Michael's story is complicated, deeply human, and ultimately one of perseverance. It reminds us that our beginnings do not have to determine where we end up, our mistakes do not have to become our identity, and we may never fully understand what another person has endured simply by looking at them. THE DEVIL'S LEDGER Week of September 14, 2026 — Twenty-Five Years Later This week on The Devil's Ledger, we mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001 and remember the 2,977 people whose lives were taken that day, along with the first responders and rescue workers who ran toward unimaginable danger while thousands were desperately trying to escape. We also honor those who have died in the years since from illnesses connected to their work at Ground Zero. Twenty-five years later, “Never Forget” remains more than a phrase; it is an obligation to remember the victims, teach the history and honor the extraordinary courage witnessed that morning. THE CREEPIEST THING I HEARD THIS WEEK: THE CURSE OF DUDLEYTOWN Deep in the forests of northwestern Connecticut lie the remains of Dudleytown, an eighteenth-century settlement that eventually became one of New England's most enduring haunted legends. Stories of a centuries-old family curse, insanity, mysterious deaths and strange creatures transformed an abandoned settlement into the so-called “Village of the Damned.” Historians have challenged much of the mythology, offering far more ordinary explanations for Dudleytown's disappearance, but the legend proved harder to kill. Ghost hunters still seek it out despite the former settlement being privately owned and closed to the public. THIS WEEK ON THE DEVIL WITHIN: THE BUNNY MAN The New Monsters heads to Northern Virginia for the story of The Bunny Man, a legend that began with genuine 1970 reports involving a mysterious man in a rabbit costume carrying a hatchet or axe. Twenty-five years. That's how long it took for the truth about the air at Ground Zero to finally reach daylight. Twenty-five years later, Paul Rieckhoff finally tells his own 9/11 story in full. Sitting at Ground Zero with Fox Business correspondent Connell McShane, Paul walks through the days he'd quit his Wall Street job, linked up with fellow New York National Guardsmen, and searched the shattered bottom of the Winter Garden while truck horns signaled another possible collapse. It is the worst thing he has ever seen. It is also, he says, the most beautiful — because of the unity, the volunteers, the fire crew from Arkansas that just got in the rig and started driving. Retired combat pilot Glenn Ignazio joins from the other side of the world he was on that day, in a wartime footing on the Iraqi border when the second plane hit. This is not a forever-wars episode. On Friday's Mark Levin Show, WJNO's Brian Mudd fills in for Mark. This is the 25th anniversary of 9/11. We say "Never Forget" and pay homage to the victims and their families, but we have forgotten. And maybe we never opened our eyes in the first place, because 25 years later the West is getting our rear ends kicked by Islam. Islam is winning and as a society we are clueless, because we've never thought through what "Never Forget" represents. In the aftermath of 9/11, many of us felt helpless and we didn't get Islam. But if you had told someone back then that 25 years later an Islamist would be Mayor of New York City, they'd think you were nuts. Suppose the real Ground Zero is not the site of the Twin Towers, but Michigan? We've totally blown the Never Forget thing. As a society we've closed our eyes to Islam's plan to takeover America. Also, on 9/11 we were at war, but we interpreted differently from the Islamists. We thought were at war with terrorists "over there," while we were blind to what was happening right here at home. In the 9,130 days since 9/11, an average of 5.5 terror attacks have taken place. Islamic terror has become so common that it takes an October 7th type of event to make news. Out of political correctness, many attacks get labelled "hate crimes." The truth is the Islamists didn't need to attack the Twin Towers. The Islamic plan has parallel paths: terror, infiltration and political correctness. The West has allowed itself to be manipulated by Islam and the plan is working. Then, 25 years ago, all of two elected officials in the U.S. were Islamists, both in Michigan. Today, that number is 255, including four members of Congress and Hizzoner Mayor Mamdani. The Muslim Brotherhood has an actual 100 year plan, first discovered in 1982, with a ten point plan to takeover the West. They realized the West couldn't be conquered militarily, so they're doing it by gradual entrenchment. They're playing the long game and it's working. Finally, if we do nothing else, where do we go from here? The Muslim Brotherhood 100 year plan tells us. We went from identifying western societies and establishing infrastructure, to building a North American network, to institutional consolidation, to political and civic participation. From here, the plan calls for influencing institutions, to influencing laws and public policy favorable to Islam, to the normalization of Islamist political ideas. In other words, Islam is no longer outside the norm, Islam IS the norm. The question is, do we have it within us to protect our republic, our Judeo-Christian values and our way of life? Twenty-five years after the September 11 attacks, American Potential host David From sits down with John Byrnes, Strategic Director for Concerned Veterans for America, to remember the day that changed America and reflect on its lasting impact. John was a college student and National Guard soldier in New York City when the attacks began. Twenty-five years later, one lab three miles from Ground Zero is still identifying 9/11 victims. The lab promised the families it would never give up — and it hasn't.
