Compensation Management is one of the courses offered by the OUM Business School at Open University Malaysia (OUM). This course is offered to all students taking the Bachelor of Human Resource and Management, and those who specialise in Human Resource Management programmes.
Episode 1 introduces the perspective of compensation administration and the dimension of compensation from the view of the employees and the employers.
Episode 5 discusses job evaluation and its importance to an organisation. You will also be exposed to the process of performance appraisal and the methods for conducting a performance appraisal.
Episode 6 is on consistency issues and market competition. In this topic, you will be introduced to the concept of market survey and its importance in formulating a competitive compensation structure as well as the problems faced in implementing market surveys.
Episode 7 describes the process of forming a salary structure. The topics covered are the process of forming and administering a salary structure as well as the types of salary payment in an organisation. Other programmes besides salary payment are also examined.
Episode 8 explains the short term and long term incentives as well as the types of plans made available by employers.
Episode 9 focuses on benefits and employee services. This topic will discuss the different concepts of benefits and services as well as the types of different plans offered by the employer for the welfare of the employees and their families who are eligible to receive them.
Episode 10 revisions on flexible benefit and compensation plan.
Episode 2 introduces the legislation's role in managing compensation. Among the acts that will be discussed are the Employment Act 1955, Workmen's Compensation Act 1952 and Industrial Relations Act 1967.
Episode 3 discusses the job analysis. Through this topic you will be exposed to the reasons for conducting job analysis and the importance of job analysis.
Episode 4 dwells on the meaning and the importance of job description in compensation administration. It also explains the job description items as well as the process of preparing a job description.
