Episode 7 introduces you to the world of Virtual Reality (VR). This includes the types of VR systems, basic components of VR and other VR related issues.
Episode 8 discusses how the technology of VR has been applied to facilitate people's work. To be specific, we will see how it has been applied in the following fields: • Education; • Medicine; • Training; • Interior Design and Architecture; and • Games Applications.
Special topic of video streaming and basic concept of video technology.
Episode 1 discusses the important terms and concepts related to interactive media, the history of traditional print and electronic mass media such as newspaper, radio and television, the convergence of each media into interactive digital media with the birth of personal computing as well as the advantages and disadvantages of interactive media.
Episode 3 discusses the related infrastructures that make the distribution of interactive media possible. We will briefly discuss the general concept of transmission media, some of the common types of communications media and networks used, and also the available broadband access and services. This topic will also explore some of the future possibilities of interactive media.
Episode 4 explains the history and some basic concepts of streaming media. We will look at the field of application where streaming media is used. We will also discuss the components of streaming media architecture.
Episode 5 explores the basic concepts of video technology which covers analog and digital video. We will look at an explanation of several components of a video streaming system, followed by the important characteristics of a network to support streaming video. We will discuss video streaming in both LAN and Internet architectures, along with examples of the usage of streaming video.
Episode 6 discusses Video on Demand (VoD) by explaining the meaning of VoD, the types of VoD systems available and the standards employed by VoD. We will look at the basic components of VoD systems as well as discuss the advantages and disadvantages of VoD, followed by the prediction of the future of VoD.
Episode 2 discusses some of the common types of media and the related technologies available in the market nowadays.
