Alan welcomes two of the most accomplished and entertaining presenters in dentistry to the Group Function podcast. Dr. Mike DiTolla and Dr. Josh Austin are known as dental educators that can connect with an audience better than anyone and they prove it again in today's episode. Both of them have been working out new and never before seen material for the Voices of Dentistry meeting coming soon in January 2021! Some of the topics they covered: The very first Voices of Dentistry! (Holidome anyone?) Josh and Mike have taken VoD "under their wing." It's their favorite meeting to present at. And we love it! Previews for VoD Why is social media is so bad for us? How do Mike and Josh prepare/write their stuff? "Start with the 3 most embarrassing moments of your life..." Some links from the show: The Voices of Dentistry (use code VeryDental) The Very Dental Facebook group Porn for Your Practice (social media article by Josh) Inside by Bo Burnham Matthew Posa Youtube channel If you would you like support the Very Dental Podcast Network you should support our sponsors! They help us create content that is, for lack of a better word...Very Dental! I've found that using a digital workflow for posterior zirconia is very predictable. So much so that when I've evaluated margins, contour and interproximal contacts...I'm ready to cement. Why so cocky? Typically the digital workflow usually nails the occlusion. But more importantly, Microcopy Dental has a posterior adjustment system for zirconia (and lithium disilicate) that is so simple and SO GOOD. First, I use Bite-Chek articulating paper for accurate and easy to read occlusal contact marking. Then I use the specially designed Z adjuster diamond (my favorite is the tear drop shape) to refine my occlusion and finally I use the 2 step Neoshine Z polishers to bring my surface back to a high, polished shine! Microcopy has done the heavy lifting to make adjusting posterior restorations a breeze. And all of their products are single patient use so it's easy clean up and no cross contamination! Go check the system out at verydentalpodcast.com/adjust! Ideal preps. That's what we aim for. One excellent way to get there is to use a core material to build the tooth back up to ideal contour. Cosmecore from Cosmedent is my choice for building up a broken down tooth. It's dual cure, comes in a variety of colors and cuts just like a tooth. You'll get a super smooth finish with no gouging. Right now I've got the 50 gram dispenser that fits in a small impression gun, but when I need to refill I think I'll go with the 8 gram syringe. Both work great, but those syringes are handy and don't take much room on a set up. Check it out at verydentalpodcast.com/cosmecore! It's funny, but you never really know how your branding effects people until you see it in your own life. So Jacob, my youngest 11 started Invisalign with a local orthodontist. He's following all the instructions, including taking them out to eat. So I'm CONSTANTLY seeing a case for his aligners with our orthodontist's brand. Like every single day. I'm realizing that cases for aligners, splits and removable offer a brilliant way for people to remember your office and your brand! And then I thought of our friends at Zirc who offer aligner sized and denture sized boxes in tons of colors that you can customize with YOUR logo! From a child collecting film magazines with a belief that he could someday make his own films… to having that belief confirmed during his time in film school… to the realization that he'd have the best chance of getting a feature off the ground if he made something in the horror genre… to the terrific reception of his debut film CREEP and the string of terrific films that have followed… to his move into television directing… to the making of his latest film THE BANISHING (available now on VOD, digital, Blu-Ray, and DVD)… this candid conversation between 3 filmmakers with a 15 year history together covers almost every single aspect of both the craft and the business. Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” for a patient who has terrific ideas for films but an unfortunate list of physical ailments preventing him from writing the scripts himself, Chris reveals the chilling source of where he found the inspiration for some of the most disturbing imagery in THE BANISHING, and the boys discuss the art of building proper dread in a thriller. “The Chin” himself - Bruce Campbell (THE EVIL DEAD series, BUBBA HO-TEP, BLACK FRIDAY) will be opening this year's YORKIETHON! Sometimes you just have to do it yourself ... as long as it's in conjunction with someone else.  In this episode, Leslie talks with Actress/Writer/Director Kathryne Isabelle Easton about developing her own horror franchise, her award winning short film Borrelia Borealis, how to navigate Hollywood as a woman and still stay true to your vision, pay inequity and much more.More about Kathryne:Kathryne Isabelle Easton attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City after studying theater for many years as a child in Syracuse, NY. She moved to Los Angeles to pursue filmmaking soon after graduating, and quickly found that the game of Hollywood is a very grating one unless you are creating some of your own material and getting your voice out there. She started a production company, Abhorrent Behavior, and directed, wrote, produced and starred in many shorts, music videos, and several web series before directing her first feature: a romantic drama, “Borrelia Borealis” in 2020. She secured a distribution deal through Freestyle Media and it releases on VOD platforms January 18th, 2022. In 2021, she directed her second feature, a gritty LA noir thriller, “Valleyheart,” and is currently is post production. She has worked steadily as an actress in LA over the years as well as selling scripts as a writer and placing on the Academy Nicholl quarter finals list two times. She has trended on the Blcklist with high scores as well as making it to the semis for Final Draft Big Break and second round at Austin. She directed Key Question for Legendary Digital Studios at the Alpha network, starring Marisha Ray, and she is currently writing a soon-to-be horror film franchise, “Sacred Feminine.” She resides in Los Angeles, enjoys a myriad of caffeinated beverages, and is currently looking for representation for her multi-hyphenate career.

Police would quickly narrow in on the person they believed to be responsible for this violent crime: 17-year-old Ricky Kasso, who they alleged had participated in a cult ritual during the commission of this vile act. While the story would fade from the headlines, its legacy would live on, becoming an omen of the Satanic Panic craze yet to come later that decade...Special thanks to Jesse Pollack, Dan Jones, and Anthony Zenkus for speaking with me. Jesse and Dan are co-directors on the documentary film The Acid King, which Anthony not only helped produce but experienced firsthand. I'm so glad that they were able to speak to me, and I owe a huge thanks to Jesse and Dan for not only being good friends, but for putting together such a good flick (and for contributing so much to this episode).Their documentary, "The Acid King," is being released this Tuesday (November 9th) via Wild Eye Releasing. It will be available through most VOD apps/websites, and I cannot recommend it enough for fans of this show.Written, hosted, and produced by Micheal WhelanMusic courtesy of Jesse Pollack ("The Acid King")Learn more about this podcast at http://unresolved.meIf you would like to support this podcast and others, consider heading to https://www.patreon.com/unresolvedpod to become a Patron or ProducerThis episode is sponsored by Raycon. It has taken six years for director James Nunn to bring his one-take, real-time action movie to the screen. During that time, 'one-shot' movies like 'Birdman' and '1917' have not only dominated at the box office, but they have also been lauded by critics. In many ways, Nunn's intense, relentless thriller, 'One Shot' - which is released theatrically and on VOD services in the USA on 5 November 2021 courtesy of Screen Media Films - is an even more remarkable achievement, considering its comparatively low-budget and 20-day shooting schedule ('1917', by comparison, was made in 65 days). Nunn puts the success of the film down to a huge amount of preparation, and an incredibly hard-working cast and crew - especially its leading actor, Scott Adkins, who is intimately followed through every long-take, moving from dialogue scenes to gun battles, knife fights, explosions and punch-ups. As a technical feat, there's nothing quite like it in the DTV action world. In this conversation, James explores the film's many great performances - from Adkins to co-stars Ashley Greene Khoury, Ryan Phillippe, and the MMA fighter Jess Liaudin - and lifts the lid on how it was made. Lee Charles - "the Al Leong of British cinema", according to fight choreographer Tim Man - has fought on-screen with some of the world's biggest action stars. He took a clobbering from Dave Bautista in 'Final Score' (2018), and tired to take out Sope Dirisu as 'Lenn the Butcher' in an iconic, grisly battle scene in the TV show, 'Gangs of London', co-created by 'The Raid's Gareth Evans. His role as a French mercenary in 'One Shot' marks another opportunity for him to go toe-to-toe with Scott Adkins - the duo worked together on Nunn's previous Adkins flicks, 'Green Street 3: Never Back Down' (2013) and 'Eliminators' (2016), plus roles in 'Accident Man' (2018) and 'Avengement' (2019). Charles is the walking embodiment of his own life motto - that anything is achievable through hard work. He's currently working with his childhood hero, Sylvester Stallone, on the all-star action sequel, 'The Expendables 4'. We discuss his multifaceted life and career; from Everton FC to six-time World Kickboxing Champion, training with Benny "The Jet" Urquidez and making it in the movies. Alan chats with co-founder of the Voices of Dentistry, Dr. Mark Costes. We talked VoD and planning a dental meeting, being a 50 year old dude and what waking up early (REALLY early) has done for Mark. If you would you like support the Very Dental Podcast Network you should support our sponsors! They help us create content that is, for lack of a better word...Very Dental! The Very Dental podcast is brought to you by our friends at Microcopy Dental. Neodiamonds from Microcopy Dental are very fine. I mean, all of them are awesome, but some of them are actually “very fine.” Specifically I mean the yellow striped ones they call “finishing” diamonds. I use Microcopy finishing diamonds on just about any patient that I might be spinning a bur on. Very fine finishers do the heavy lifting on composites so polishing is simple and easy. I use them to finish crown preps. I've been known to adjust Emax and Zirconia with them. Once you try them you're going to find a ton of places to use them! And just like all of Microcopy's burs, they're sterile out of the package and single use means they're sharp and efficient and can be disposed of at the end of the appointment! Go check them out at verydentalpodcast.com/veryfine (all one word)! The Very Dental podcast is also supported by our friends at Cosmedent! Cosmedent has just released a new composite that you're going to want to try! It's called “Renamel Bulkfill” and it's here to simplify your posterior composite placement. It rivals the speed and efficiency of amalgam but it's still packable, sculptable and polishes like a dream! You can cure up to 4mm increments, so it's sure to increase the efficiency of working in the posterior. It's radiopaque for easy identification on recalls, too! I'll get a chance to try it clinically next week and I'll give you my review with photos in the Very Dental Facebook group! Cosmedent is offering a killer 20% off deal for Very Dental Podcast Network listeners by using the coupon code “VDP21” at checkout on their website! So go check out Renamel Bulkfill at verydentalpodcast.com/bulkfill The Very Dental Podcast is also supported by Zirc! How often do you wish that your patients didn't have lips, cheeks or tongues?
