Mark Howes and Saul Henry talk classic albums
This time round Mark and Saul discuss the relative merits of Bob Dylan’s Highway 61 Revisited, the middle album in the Highway 61 trilogy, considered the highlight of the three. Afterall the final chapter Highway 61: The Revenge, was broadly considered by critics to be a pitiful shadow of its predecessors which pretty much ruined the franchise.Turns out that once again Mark hadn’t heard one of the most influential records of the 20th century. So no surprise there, probably because it’s not by bloody Tool. Mark goes on about Mountain Goats, whereas Saul unveils his adoration of the band Joseph, who are bloody lovely people with some of the most gorgeous voices you’ll hear in your short lives. Saul has seen them perform live six times now and maybe an intervention might be required.Ask us questions, beg us to shut up, be nice, offer to do the artwork (to save us all from Saul’s terrible doodles). Taking a deep breath and discussing one of Saul’s favourite album’s of all time, the intrepid pair try to remember things from 25 years ago. One of the best sellling ‘grunge’ albums of all time, and one that went platinum before Nirvana’s Nevermind in the US of the A.Occasionally actually talking about the subject at hand, Mark and Saul Henry mention loads of other bands too including Quicksand, Jeffrey Lewis, some podcasts, Mother Love Bone, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, all the usual suspects of ‘grunge’ really.Ask us questions, beg us to shut up, be nice, offer to do the artwork (to save us all from Saul’s terrible doodles).
