You follow Demetri Papanicolau's winding path from Fidelity financial consultant to full-time booking agent and working musician, discovering how taking risks, saying yes to scary gigs, and learning from every stage moment shaped his career. You hear how singing AC/DC and Zeppelin in high school, drilling Beatles harmonies, and navigating the evolution from originals to covers built the chops he still relies on today. As you ride through stories of surprise band formations, COVID-era pivots, and the birth of Rotten Apple, you're reminded that you must Always Be Performing, even when the gig you expected turns into something entirely different. You also step inside Demetri's world at Notso Costley Productions, where booking is equal parts diplomacy, coaching, and reading the room. He breaks down what venues actually want, what musicians consistently get wrong, and how reliability wins more than draw. You learn how he balances the needs of solos, duos, trios, and full bands; why non-verbal communication and a good hang matter; how to build an EPK that gets you on a roster; and what happens when rates rise across the scene. Through it all, Demetri shows how being both booker and performer lets him guide bands and venues toward smoother nights, stronger partnerships, and gigs that keep everyone coming back. 00:00:00 Gig Gab 512 – Monday, December 15th, 2025 December 15th: National Cupcake Day Guest co-host: Demetri Papanicolau from Notso Costley Productions NAMM coming up! This week we look at a powerful ruler named King Herod in the advent story. He shows us the sort of things we are tempted to do with our power, but also the sort of leaders we are tempted to give our allegiance to. God calls us to bow to him and live under his rule instead.
In this episode, the group discusses chapters 16-19 of House of Chains, focusing on character development, particularly Karsa's journey of growth and isolation. They explore themes of belief, the nature of gods, and the moral complexities of power dynamics. Felicin's struggles with the whirlwind goddess and the implications of cold iron versus hot iron are also examined, alongside the failures of parental figures in the narrative. In this conversation, the participants delve into the intricate character dynamics and themes present in the Malazan series, particularly focusing on leadership challenges, the nature of rebellion, sibling relationships, and the emotional struggles of characters like Felicin and Gamet. They explore how humor serves as a coping mechanism in dark times, the significance of foreshadowing, and the role of technology and strategy in warfare. The discussion highlights the burden of power and the complexities of relationships, ultimately painting a rich tapestry of the narrative's depth and character development.Send us a message (I'm not able to reply)Support the showPage Chewing Blog Page Chewing Forum Film Chewing PodcastSpeculative Speculations Podcast Support the podcast via PayPal Support the show by using our Amazon Affiliate linkJoin Riverside.fm Co-Hosts: Jarrod Varsha Chris Jose Carl D. "We wake up every morning as a soul in a human body. That alone should be so incredibly fascinating to us." What if the hardest things you've lived through weren't punishments, but assignments your soul chose to help you grow? In this episode of Wickedly Smart Women, host Anjel B. Hartwell welcomes Steffani LeFevour, modern-day soul strategist and author of You Are a Badass Mom and the forthcoming book Soul Assignments. Stteffani shares how childhood trauma, an alcoholic father, and the tragic loss of her sister cracked her open to a lifelong search for spiritual truth. What You Will Learn: The impact of childhood trauma and grief on emotional development and identity. How growing up with an alcoholic parent shapes beliefs, coping mechanisms and adulthood patterns. Why families often end up on "grief islands" when they lack tools, language or support to process loss. How early exposure to death can spark a lifelong search for meaning, spirituality and healing. The role spiritual teachers and books can play in offering language and comfort when religion wasn't present at home. How alcohol can become an unconscious way to avoid feelings, fit in socially, or suppress unresolved pain. What it looks like to break generational chains of addiction through awareness, boundaries and intentional behavior. How to examine your own relationship with alcohol and shift from unconscious use to empowered choice. The importance of creating an alcohol-free "safe house" environment for teens and modeling a different norm. The concept of soul assignments and how reframing painful experiences can move someone out of victimhood. Why radical acceptance of past experiences becomes the foundation for emotional freedom and conscious creation. How thoughts, words, feelings, beliefs and stories function as "power tools" that shape every experience. The difference between using those power tools unconsciously vs. consciously. How to identify outdated stories and rewrite them into truer, more empowering narratives. The process of finding gifts inside even the most difficult events and how that transforms inner resilience. The value of viewing life from a soul-level perspective rather than only through a human-level lens. The path from learning spiritual principles to embodying them, teaching them and serving others with them. How a long-held dream can manifest through clarity, courage and consistent sharing of one's message. Why owning your unique perspective allows your voice, work and mission to expand in powerful new ways. Connect with Steffani LeFevour Coach with Steph Connect with Anjel B. In Episode 45 of Chain Reactions, we sit down with Adrienne (aka Adz), CMO of [Gnosis](https://www.gnosis.io/), to explore what it really means to “fork banks,” and why now is the moment to fight for crypto's original values. We get into how Gnosis is uniquely positioned to push the space forward: a fully operational Layer 1 with no downtime in 7 years, deeply values-aligned founders, and a full suite of infra (Gnosis Chain, Pay, Card, Safe, Circles, CowSwap, and more) built for a new kind of financial system, one where profits and power flow to users, not from them.**We also talk about:**- The brand reboot behind “Bank on Gnosis”- Why Gnosis is launching its own consumer app in Ireland (and what students really think about money)- What Web3 gets wrong about ownership, rewards, and trust- And how streetwear, co-creation, and cooperative finance might onboard the next million usersIf you're tired of rebuilding TradFi with new branding, or trying to build something better with real-world adoption in mind — this is the blueprint.
The podcast delves into a significant yet often overlooked aspect of American football history: the introduction of chains as a means of measuring distance on the field. The discussion centers around the Crescent Athletic Club, a pioneering team in the late 19th century that is credited with utilizing chains for the first time to mark the progress of the ball during gameplay. This innovation not only transformed the officiating of the game but also reflected a broader evolution in how football was played and understood. The conversation highlights the role of key figures, such as George Woodruff, who contributed to this advancement, and how the integration of chains streamlined the officiating process, ultimately enhancing the spectator's experience. As the hosts analyze the implications of this tool, they provide listeners with a rich narrative that intertwines historical anecdotes with the evolution of football officiating practices.Of course, this conversation originates from Tim's recent Tidbit titled: Football's First Chains Revisited Join us at the Pigskin Dispatch website to see even more Positive football news! We start an advent series today called; Chains He Shall Break. In it we are going to look at the theme of power in the advent story. Today we looked at Mary's Magnificat. She tells us that it is a good thing that God scatters the proud, takes rulers off their thrones, and sends the rich away hungry. Why is that? Can we listen to her song in a way that helps us proclaim this sort of good news to the world, and embody it as well?

It's that time of year again… our WAAAAAY too early Halloween Horror Nights predictions are back! And yes, we hear you: “It's barely December, what the hell?” But around here, it's never too early to start theorizing. Last year we threw out some wild guesses; Jason, FNAF, even Hatchet and Chains and somehow nailed a few along the way. Can we pull off another Hail Mary this season? We won't know until August, but the speculation starts right now!

We had to start in the way all of the Beatlesphere is this week, with a reflection on the release of Beatles Anthology 2025. We often worry about AI models “hallucinating” or making honest mistakes. But what happens when a model knows the truth, but decides to deceive you anyway to achieve a goal of its own? This isn't sci-fi — it's happening regularly in deployment today. Marius Hobbhahn, CEO of the world's top research organisation focused on AI deception (Apollo Research), has been collaborating with OpenAI to figure out what causes OpenAI's reasoning models to 'scheme' against users.Links to learn more, video, and full transcript: https://80k.info/mh25 In a striking case uncovered by Apollo, when many AI models were told they would have capabilities removed if they performed too well on a test, they successfully “sandbagged” — intentionally answering questions incorrectly to appear less capable than they were, while also being careful not to perform so poorly it would arouse suspicion. These models had somehow developed a preference to preserve their own capabilities, despite never being trained in that goal or assigned a task that called for it.This doesn't cause significant risk now, but as AI models become more general, superhuman in more areas, and are given more decision-making power, it could become outright dangerous. In today's episode, Marius details his recent collaboration with OpenAI to train o3 to follow principles like “never lie,” even when placed in “high-pressure” situations where it would otherwise make sense. The good news: They reduced “covert rule violations” (scheming) by about 97%.The bad news: In the remaining 3% of cases, the models sometimes became more sophisticated — making up new principles to justify their lying, or realising they were in a test environment and deciding to play along until the coast was clear.Marius argues that while we can patch specific behaviours, we might be entering a “cat-and-mouse game” where models are becoming more situationally aware — that is, aware of when they're being evaluated — faster than we are getting better at testing.Even if models can't tell they're being tested, they can produce hundreds of pages of reasoning before giving answers and include strange internal dialects humans can't make sense of, making it much harder to tell whether models are scheming or train them to stop.Marius and host Rob Wiblin discuss:Why models pretending to be dumb is a rational survival strategyThe Replit AI agent that deleted a production database and then lied about itWhy rewarding AIs for achieving outcomes might lead to them becoming better liarsThe weird new language models are using in their internal chain-of-thoughtThis episode was recorded on September 19, 2025.Chapters:Cold open (00:00:00)Who's Marius Hobbhahn? Beat Migs! Betty the elephant needs help and PETA thinks Alice and Chains can help.
“What would you do if you discovered a masterpiece lost for 400 years hidden in your own home?” That's just one of the wild questions Sandy and Tricia tackle in this episode of The Sandy Show, where every moment is a blend of laughter, heart, and a dash of mischief. Join Sandy and Tricia as they serve up a whirlwind of stories—from the hilarious (and slightly evil) Christmas parenting hacks to the heartfelt campaign to free Betty, the world's most depressed circus elephant. Tricia surprises everyone by siding with PETA, championing the clever idea for Alice in Chains to become “Betty in Chains” for a month. “Let Betty go. She's done her time,” Tricia declares, sparking a conversation that's as passionate as it is poignant. Relive the magic of holiday movies as the duo reveals which Christmas classics are returning to the big screen, and laugh along as they debate whether “Love Actually” truly counts as a Christmas movie. Nostalgia runs deep as Sandy and Tricia reminisce about old-school movie outings, complete with newspaper listings and spontaneous ticket window decisions. The episode doesn't shy away from the quirky and the relatable—like the debate over the perfect winter thermostat setting (“68 degrees? That sounds like a freaking tinderbox to me!”), the Oxford Dictionary's Word of the Year (“rage bait”), and the confessions of following people online just to stay annoyed. Listeners are treated to playful banter, including the infamous “dirty legging” accusation and a shout-out to loyal podcast fans who stuck around through Thanksgiving. With memorable moments, witty exchanges, and genuine heart, this episode captures the essence of The Sandy Show: real conversations, real laughs, and real life.Notable Quotes:“Let Betty go. Learning hypnosis from the school library was part of a lifelong interest in consciousness and the mind. He has spent all the years since looking into this extraordinary, vast mystery of thought and consciousness that we all walk around using every day. He had a parallel career, putting in mission-critical payment systems around the world, and consulting, which paid the bills. Then, about eleven years ago, life underwent a significant disruption. At that point, thirty-five years of consulting, an MBA, and a lifelong exploration of consciousness through various meditative and trance-based practices came together to create Liminal Coaching.
