Squared Up Episode 04: Jamil & the All Square Institute This episode we introduce our Institute Director at All Square Jamil. He Discusses his life growing up and how he battled high school growing up different and not identifying with certain stereotypes about being "black" or not "black enough". We also discuss the difference between white washing and professionalism and the struggles in the work place. He explains how it is being a business owner and his business Creative Kuponya . We also discuss the school strike in st.paul and his experience in the schooling system
Squared Up Episode 03: Shaw-Town This episode, Nate and Onika bring in Shawnesha, a current Fellow at All Square. Shawnesha discusses the context of her life and her journey to our social enterprise. She also breaks down her dream of owning a transportation company and the steps she is taking to make that dream reality. She is known in the restaurant as our soup boss but she explains why she's a transportation boss, too. To wrap, we discuss COVID-19 (this is pre-epidemic in the United States) and some of thoughts on where, why, and how it originated.
Squared Up Episode 02: Meet the Founder This episode we welcome Emily Hunt Turner, the Founder and CEO of All Square. She discusses what led her to All Square as well as her life growing up in North Dakota, and the racial divides she has seen and been apart of in her adolescence. We also discuss her experience identifying as a gay woman and the ways that she's navigated through that. To wrap, we talk about the untimely death of Kobe Bryant and celebrate his life while sharing stories about him and his impact on the game.
