Today we hang out and talk shop with the savage of a business woman Alexandria Ott. She is the founder of multiple businesses, running Chrome City PR, a firm that is based in Chicago and in San Diego. She has also established a local event here in San Diego to bring more real human connection to our city. Something that is more than desperately needed, as social media makes us feel connected but actually drives us further and further apart. Additionally she runs a food-based experience here in San Diego, a bi-monthly dining platform that is transforming the San Diego cultural experience + creating unlikely connections between strangers. Saying this woman is inspirational is an understatement, thank you Alex. This episode goes deep into the journey of Jackie Costello of the Golden Rule Boutique. Jackie was so open in her journey of opening her own boutique that is located in Mission Valley. This episode is packed full of rawness and experience about a woman who believes in her mission and believes for standing up for something in the way we do business. Honestly something that opened my eyes more to how I spend my money. What we purchase, wear, and use makes a difference. And that comes through here, intention behind business and how we use our money. www.thegoldenruleboutique.com @thegoldenrule_boutique
A little inside peek into one of our meetings where we are reviewing a model that we use to create content. The model turns one piece of content into several different pieces that all can be pointed back to what you what your audience to do. It reduces time spent and significantly increases engagement with the things you are sharing.

Toxic masculinity, self-worth, intentional mindset, human-trafficking, at-risk youth, entrepreneurship, reflection…these aren’t quick, easy topics, but we’re not here for the quick and easy. There are so many overwhelming topics, issues, and expectations in our society today. We strive to keep up, but often times, we fall into behaviors and habits that are so disconnected from our true beliefs and opinions. Matthew Iske, of Your Truth Foundation and Geeked Communications is not only unafraid to discuss these topics, but he is also working so hard to combat these issues in our community. He shares his story, the truths that he’s found along the way, and how he is now using those truths to serve others. Through work in the non-profit and for-profit worlds, Matt is rewriting the norms and standards of how we treat one another, as well as how we treat ourselves. His work continues to evolve and grow, as he is now a certified teacher and is building new collaborations and opportunities for creatives and youths of San Diego and Support SD Local is truly honored to be sharing this space with him.
Life is full of widely accepted stories that are so far from the truth. Sometimes we’d rather accept these stories than face a painful reality. But what if we were brave? What if we chose to take a good long look at our own stories and beliefs and question whether or not these were truths in our lives or just made up stories we heard along the way? Ivoree Ameperosa is an extraordinary local that is on a fierce mission to confront these stigmas, specifically in the cannabis industry. She focuses on the collaboration, support, and community building for women of color owned businesses and hopes to share the incredible benefits of this demonized plant and the booming business that is building around it. She shares about some of her more painful truths and how cannabis has allowed her to find peace, acceptance, and friendship and how she hopes to be able to continue to spread her love and knowledge to our community of San Diego.
Vulnerability is one of the most difficult and understated choices we can make for ourselves. True vulnerability feels uncomfortable. It can make us feel exposed, doubtful, and defensive. But once we set out on a path to pursue it, that vulnerability turns into courage; which quickly grows into confidence, security, and power. Our first guest knows exactly how uncomfortable vulnerability can be. Christina Solis of @secretsofsunshine and GrowWiTheFlow has found a true gift in her practice. She has been confronted with abuse, loss, and impossible expectations and yet she shares with us how she consistently shows up in a vulnerable and heartfelt way for her large social media audience.
