It’s so important to establish a positive relationship with your students. But it’s also important to draw that line between teacher and “I’m your friend”. What you want to build is trust between you and your students so that they can move from being dependent learners to independent learners. Building trust also means respect from both sides. Which also means that the student needs to see and believe that you do actually care about their needs
Mock interviews are intimidating but also extremely helpful for you to learn from. Two important things to remember when you are being interviewed is: be yourself (don’t be your mentor teacher he/she already has a job!) and use the Oreo strategy. The cookie is your belief (teaching philosophy) the cream filling is your answer (examples) and then the bottom cookie is your belief (teaching philosophy). --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/caroline-smith4/support
