On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Chad DeDominicis from Expected Buffalo to discuss their Buffalo Sabres mock offseason that just dropped in addition to what the situation is with reportedly disgruntled forward JJ Peterka and other Sabres topics. There's been reports that Peterka, a restricted free agent is unhappy with the direction of the Sabres and is hoping to play somewhere else sooner than later. Where are these leaks coming from? How much leverage does Peterka, who scored 27 goals last year and has 55 over the past two seasons actually have? Will another team sign him to an offer sheet? Will the Sabres match any offer that's presented? What would it take for Peterka to commit to Buffalo long term? Chad has thoughts on all these based on what he's heard and what his gut tells him. From there they go over the Sabres mock offseason Chad put out alongside his Expected Buffalo partner Anthony. What RFA's are they qualifying? Are they signing any to long-term deals? Do they pull off a big trade, perhaps for Jason Robertson or Keandre Miller? Is Alex Tuch getting an extension? What free agents are being targeted? Chad tries to project what will happen in advance of the real thing starting within the next few weeks. That plus Kevyn Adams knowing this is his last chance to turn things around and plenty more with Chad, who you can follow on Twitter @CMDeDominicis and be sure to check out Expected Buffalo.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. We consider them THE most underrated spot for wings, pizza and other great food in Western New York plus it's a great place to drink and have a great time. Also big thanks to Imperial Pizza and their two locations (1035 Abbott Road and 1655 Main Street), home of not only great pizza and tons of other delicious eats but also the best everyday lunch special in town.Special thanks to local Buffalo band, Orange Zest for allowing us to use their awesome single, “Old Friends” as the new official intro music for Talking Buffalo. Courtroom Calling: Col. Greg Thompson and Katie BakerPractice may not always make perfect, but at Cedarville University, it launches futures. The University's mock trial team is preparing students for legal careers and inspiring them to model the love of Christ in the courtroom.Colonel (Ret.) Greg Thompson, a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps, brought his extensive legal background to Cedarville as a Professor of Criminal Justice. With experience in criminal prosecution, defense, and national security law — as well as time coaching mock trial at the U.S. Air Force Academy — he was well-equipped to launch the University's mock trial program. One of the first students on the team was Katie Baker, a passionate social work major who found her calling in the courtroom.Katie, now heading to the University of Akron School of Law, first stepped into the world of legal advocacy through Cedarville's new mock trial team. Inspired by her internship in children's services, she witnessed firsthand the heartache — and hope — found in family law. Her drive to stand in the gap for hurting children and families only deepened through the team.Mock trial at Cedarville is more than competition. It's a training ground for future advocates built on biblical truth and a commitment to excellence. Thompson share the team's formative and funny stories on this week's episode of the Cedarville Stories podcast.https://share.transistor.fm/s/d8a69d2chttps://youtu.be/twmISdeAsJk
In this Evergreen edition of the Big Buck Registry's Deer Hunt Podcast, we're reaching back to one of our most impactful early episodes — a 2013 conversation with Dean Vanier, founder of Northwoods Common Scents. Dean has spent over 30 years perfecting his approach to whitetail communication using 100% pure scent — and in this masterclass, he shares how hunters can use scent not as a gimmick, but as a tool for understanding and influencing deer behavior. We cover: Mock scrapes, drag rags, and the concept of the "virtual deer" Why buck urine is underrated early in the season Dean's scent layering strategy through all phases of the rut How scent helps you “talk” to deer using their own instincts And how the industry has changed since this episode first aired — including CWD laws, synthetic scents, and ATA/RHA certification Dean's methods are still converting skeptical hunters to this day — and his passion for woodsmanship through scent makes this one of the most timeless episodes in our archive.
