    Madagascar is argued to be of the highest priority in the fight to preserve the biodiversity of our planet. The island contains 5% of all the known species and 80% of these species cannot be found anywhere else on the Earth. In fact, there are more unique species of plants and animals living in Madagascar than on the entire African continent. The effect of climate change on Madagascar is threatening the lives of all of its inhabitants and the destruction of the ecosystem is happening at a rapid pace. Currently, only 10% of Madagascar’s original forest remains. I sat down with Liam Curran, who recently spent three months documenting Madagascar, researching the impact that climate change is having on the island and its wider consequences for the rest of the world.
