TCOM Talk is a show dedicated to the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine on the campus of the UNT Health Science Center in Forth Worth
A family built on osteopathic medicine, Doctors Ray and Sheila Page are two shining examples of dedication and commitment to osteopathic principles. Dr. Ray Page was just the second person from UNTHSC to receive a dual-doctorate in 1991, and his wife, Sheila Page, received her DO just one year later. Nearly three decades later the couple open up about their time at TCOM and the successful practices they have both built.
After medical students graduate, what's next? We learn more about residency and what comes next in the journey to becoming an osteopathic physician. We sit down with Lisa Nash, DO, MS-MPEd, FAAFP, Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education and Aurea Baez-Martinez, a GME Coordinator.
We go ROME-ing on our latest installment of TCOM Talk. We hear from Assistant Dean Dr. John Gibson and retired Assistant Dean Dr. John Bowling about the Office of Rural Medical Education, better known as the ROME program. They take us inside the beginning of the program, the current state of rural medicine and the future.
What does the world’s first Performing Arts Medicine Fellowship and Powderpuff football have in common? We talk about both of them on the newest edition of our podcast, TCOM Talk. We learn more about the PAM Fellowship from Dr. Sajid Surve, Dr. Yein Lee and Dr. James Aston and we also get a preview of the Powderpuff football game coming up on October 16 between the TCOM Class of 2022 and Class of 2023.
We visit with Dr. Albert Yurvati, a 1986 TCOM graduate, learn why he's the King of the Xiphoid, how he became a visiting professor to a Scottish University and a very personal and inspiring story of his wife overcoming cancer. He is the Chair of the Medical Education Department at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.
