We decided to get together at the off-season party, and found a few people to interview in the process.
Off-season episode number 2, technically the last episode of the 2017 racing season. Huge shout-out to the awesome folks down at The X Bar for giving us a home for this off-season. Not a whole lot to discuss from the local side of things, so we shifted focus a bit to national level events, including both the Snowball Derby and PRI show.
The first true offseason episode of The Rumble Over The Thunder is finally here. Lots of specials to recap from all over, including the 300 lap enduro race at WIR, which was run by several FRRC regulars including new track owner, Dan VanDaalwyk. We also mention the crazy finish to the Falloween at Dells Raceway Park, and the upcoming PRI show in Indy. This week is a somber one as we discuss the sad news from the Eve. We also had 4 guests with us, the remaining 4 champions. From the Figure 8 division we had Craig Vandewettering, Quarter Mile Late Models were represented by Corey Kemkes, Dan Thomson captured the Sizzlin 4 championship, and Kyle Quella completed a last lap pass on the last night to win it all in the Sport Trucks. Each of them elaborated on their journey to the top, and Craig was there to help explain a bit more into what happened at the Eve as well.
Well, the dust has settled, and the 2017 champions have been crowned for the Fox River Racing Club. Since we have 8 champions to interview, we decided to split it up into a couple of episodes to talk with all of them. This week, four-time Super Stock champion Dylan Wenzel and rookie Late Model champion Travis Rodewald showed up to talk about how this season fell into place for them, and what their plans are for this offseason and possibly next season. Of course we also talked with co-host Andy Monday, Super Late Model champion about his journey to where he is today, and a bit about his future as well.
Well, next week is the very last week of the 2017 season, so we had lots to talk about this week with the close point battles in almost all of the divisions. We were also joined in the booth by last week's Super Late Model winner, Kyle Calmes. Lots of fun stuff to talk about this week, along with our predictions for the winners of the close points battles.
This week came with a new set of growing pains. We had a few guests all at the same time, which posed a problem. I tried something to attempt to resolve it, but caused a major issue that cannot be totally fixed in post processing. I fixed it as best as I could, but the quality is lower than previous episodes. That being said, we were joined in the booth with Evan, Ethan, and Emery Beattie, and they had some awesome stuff to talk about.
Thursday was the final race of the Red White and Blue State Championship. There were two different types of co-champs in two divisions, a couple of new champs, and a repeat or maybe two. Guess you'll just have to listen to see who all we are talking about this week.
Even with a rainout, we still decided to record a podcast this last week. With no material from Fox River Racing Club to discuss, we turned our gaze back on the Midwest Tour race last Tuesday, and also looked ahead to the Blue race happening later this week. Matt was also able to sit down with track owner Roger VanDaalwyk for a few minutes to get some insight from him.
Another one in the books, so another hour of talk. There were a few guys who ran double duty this week, and we were joined in the booth by one of them, Mike Meyerhofer Jr. He normally runs in the Late Model division, but also ran the Super Stock division this week, which had a bit of post-race drama again with the top 3 finishers being DQ'd. Matt caught up with Super Late Model winner Lowell Bennett after the race, so we hear from him as well.
Another week down, another podcast up. This week on FRRC's podcast, we talk about Veteran's Night, and what an interesting one it was. Only one race went from green to checkers, and it's not the one anyone would expect. We were joined live by Super Late Model feature winner Maxwell Schultz, as well as having a pre-recorded interview between co-host Matt Panure and Late Model winner Travis Rodewald.
Week three of the official Fox River Racing Club podcast, one in which we talk about the White Race. Very interesting races from all divisions, and we have interviews from winners Ty Majeski and Eddie Munster, along with special guest Jordan Fisher, president of the Wisconsin Sport Truck Club.
Welcome to the second week of the official Fox River Racing Club podcast. For this episode, we cover what happened in the week of the 7/6/17 race, including pre-recorded interviews with feature winners Alex Stumpf and Mike Meyerhofer Jr. In the booth, we had special guest from the Street Stock division, Dylan Wenzel.
