A digital clone of you to chat with for your future generations. That is available to you now, through Sensay. Your digital twin knows everything you know, talks like you, and even looks like you. That's what a Sensay Replica does.At Sensay, there is a library of demonstration replicas you can chat with to see how the idea works. Famous figures, past and present. For fun, I had a little chat with Aretha Franklin. There are endless ways this AI technology could preserve your life story while you can remember and tell it. But what if your memories, or a loved one's, are disappearing through dementia or Alzheimer's? Dan Thompson founded Sensay on the principles of memory preservation to aid dementia patients. Thinking about how you could develop these ideas could prove revolutionary for families and those who suffer from such illnesses. It would be interesting to see some actual cases of its use for this purpose. In later editions, I'll revisit the product with an update. Even perhaps patients who face Motor Neurone Disease taking their voice, now unable to speak the stories of their life anymore, could do through a replica forever?* What do you think about this idea? * Does the idea of preserving your wisdom and experiences in this way appeal to you? * How could this be used to store and access generations of life stories from your family? The recent release of the road map to digital immortality with true fully autonomous replicas by 2029, was complimented by the recent updated Replica studio. Now choose a Replica for work or a personal persona. Then evolve it over time by training your digital twin with text, pictures and videos. They discussed the value of diverse skill sets and community experiences, like Michael's time at a grocery store, in recognizing people's needs for entrepreneurship. Addressing Memory Loss and Sharing Stories Michael expressed his concern about the loss of memory due to Alzheimer's or dementia and how it affects individuals and their loved ones. He suggested that technology could be used to record and share personal stories and experiences, which would be particularly valuable for those who have lost access to family members due to death. Dan agreed, sharing his own experience of memory loss and how it can be terrifying. He also mentioned that people with degenerative mental diseases are often advised to start a journal or life book to record their stories, but this can be difficult for the elderly. He highlighted various use cases: education, preserving legacies, gaming, personal assistance, and brand marketing. Dan also mentioned the technology's ability to extend and empower individuals beyond their physical limitations. Michael agreed, emphasizing the technology's potential to free up time for humans to focus on human-to-human interactions, using Taylor Swift as an example. Embracing AI for Global Collaboration and Growth Michael discussed the potential for increased global collaboration and creativity, particularly in education and technology. He emphasized the importance of not fearing the impact of AI on jobs but rather embracing it as an opportunity for growth and innovation. Michael also shared his personal experience of tracing his ancestry back to the late 11 hundreds, which sparked his curiosity about the lives of his ancestors. He encouraged others to embrace AI and technology's opportunities rather than fearing them. Exploring AI, Legacy, and Family Trees Michael and Dan discussed the potential of using AI and technology to understand our future better and preserve our past. They highlighted the importance of recording personal stories and experiences for future generations despite concerns about privacy and security. Dan emphasized the opportunity to leave a legacy for those curious about our lives and experiences and the potential for future generations to learn from our knowledge and experiences. They also touched on the idea of interactive family trees and the possibility of communicating with ancestors. The conversation concluded with the idea that we live in a "golden age of technology" where we have the tools to record and preserve our stories for future generations. Discussing Data Privacy and AI Character Development Dan and Michael discussed the implications of recording and sharing personal data, with Michael advocating for the greater good and Dan highlighting the potential for misuse. They also touched on the importance of understanding different historical perspectives and the challenges of creating AI characters that reflect diverse personalities. Dan emphasized the potential of their platform to save time and improve efficiency, allowing users to focus on more critical tasks. They concluded by expressing excitement for the future of their project and its potential to revolutionize how people interact with technology. In this episode we speak with Dan Thomson from Tomo Surfboards.Dan is arguably the most creative surfboard designer of the last 20 years.  The art of surfboard shaping and designing was handed down from his father, Mark Thomson.  Dan and his father would discuss all aspects of hydrodynamic theory to improve their understanding of real surfboard design. In the mid 2000's Dan moved to America after a chance encounter that led to him riding a selection of 'fish' boards from some of the industry's best.  Around the same time Dan was thinking a lot about the 'Golden Rule' or Fibonacci sequence and how it could be applied it to his surfboard designs.  It wasn't long before this way of designing boards made complete sense to him and the idea of what surfboards may look like in the future became clear. The result was a series of boards such as the Vanguard, Deathstar and Vader.  Dan's creativity over the next 10-15 years was some of the most prolific in surfboard history.  If you look at his various model in his range, nearly every board is unique with its own purpose. When Dan teamed up with Firewire the racks in surf shops seemed to change overnight and looked very different with an array of plan shapes, rockers, concaves and channels.  I was really excited to speak with Dan as his unique board designs and creativity is an inspiration to me, as I am sure it is to others.    Support the Show.Be sure to check out the stories on our instagram home page for photos to accompany each episode.@the_dust_up_podcastWe hope you enjoyed our conversation and be sure to rate and subscribe our podcast.

AABP Executive Director Dr. Fred Gingrich is joined by Dr. Dan Thomson from the Department of Animal Science at Iowa State University to discuss the effects and mitigation strategies resulting from heat stress in feedlot cattle. We discuss that heavy and black-hided cattle are at increased risk of heat stress, and control strategies should first target these groups of cattle when the temperature-humidity index (THI) is greater than 70 degrees F. Thomson states that the first thing cattle will do when experiencing heat stress is stand up, pant and decrease intakes. Bedding placed in pens can reduce surface temperatures by 20-30 degrees F, and providing shade that moves with the sun will also help to cool cattle. Building mounds for cattle to be further away from surface heat and allow more exposure to moving air will also decrease heat stress in cattle. Thomson reminds our listeners that water is the most important nutrient to cattle, especially in times of heat stress events. Cattle will drink 3x dry matter intake normally, but during hot weather they will drink 5x dry matter intake. Ensuring access to clean water with adequate trough space is important. We also discuss removing barriers to airflow in feedlot pens and using low stress handling techniques or stopping all movements during times of intense heat stress. Thomson also discusses his television show Doc Talk which is available on RFD TV and has a wide audience for discussing issues important to cattle veterinarians and producers. For this interview, I had Dan Thomson the Marketing Lead of Insurace.io join me from the big crypto conference in Lisbon, Portugal.  Excuse the background noise as he was right n the middle of the event and was kind enough to take some time in his busy conference schedule and call back home tot he United States to talk to me.  Insurace.io is a software protocol for decentralized insurance for the Decentralized Finance world.  Are you worried about venturing into that DeFi platform that your friends have been telling you about?   Contract audits are already becoming necessary, however, with insurance, you can pretty much guarantee that you will not suffer a tremendous loss by entering the DeFi space. Both individuals and institutions are catching on to crypto and it will be interesting to see where the insurance sector develops in this space. With Insurace, you will have that firm footing you need to explore the space freely.   https://www.insurace.io/
