In this episode, our expert trainer Joanna Johnson talks about youth suicide with Jaki Watkins, a Primary Mental Health Worker with the Schools Mental Health Service. Listen to find out about the impact of youth suicide on mental health provision in schools, and the training and resources needed to help educators open up conversations and offer the right support. Jaki's involvement with developing new tools and training for educators has been a huge step in helping schools improve mental health understanding and provision, as well as helping them to plan for extreme situations and make the right calls. Jaki talks about her years of experience helping young people, staff and parents with opening up about suicide and the reality of dealing with suicidal thoughts in young people and children as well as offering guidance on what to do if you are in a similar situation.
