Welcome to Worldwide Friends. They met in the 90s, well some the 80s and noughties but mostly the 90s. They live all around the planet and want to carefully consider culture, literature, politics and travel, and maybe have a rant sometimes as well.
In this episode we return to Spain to check in with Tim. We talk cleaning, supermarkets and American football as well as covering off the last 10 years of Oscar winning films. Meredith and Tim both chat about what they're missing during lockdown and what they're looking forward to once it's lifted.
In this episode Meredith catches up with Steve who is in Stroud, England to see how he's holding up during the Covid19 crises. The discussion moves straight into talk about an effective way to socially distance yourself from others at the supermarket. It leads to some interesting chats about how Seinfeld characters would handle a supermarket shop in our current climate. Steve lets us know about life in the countryside of Gloucestershire and the four reasons why you're allowed out of the house. At the end of the episode Steve lets us know about something that is urking him at present. The current over-use on news broadcasts of adjectives that describe the current 'times'. These are the ones he's heard so far: Unprecedented, testing, trying, troubled, dark, tricky, sad, difficult, interesting and most desperate of. I'm going to keep an ear out next time I watch the news, why don't you play along as well.
Meredith chats to her friend Sarah in Queensland, Australia to see how Covid-19 is affecting her. They chat Aussie slang, essential oils, pun appreciation and the theory of the toilet roll saga. This episode contains laughter, which may be just what you need right now.
