UK Cider Tour 2025 Audio Snap Shots Wallace and Ria in Bristol In this Episode 469 of Cider Chat, we brings listeners inside the UK Totally Cider Tour 2025 through the voices of the guests who joined. From Somerset, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, to Wales guests on this tour discovered not just cider and perry, but also community, history, and inspiration. First Impressions and Highlights Many guests shared that they signed up to experience places they couldn't access on their own. From the scale of Showering's Cider Mill, the second largest in the country to the intimate welcome at Oliver's, the contrast certainly left a deep impression. The discovery of Perry was a recurring theme. From Ohio travelers Chris and Megan who tasted their very first Perry on the tour, while Rodney from Virginia declared he'd be grafting Perry scions at home. Personal Connections Group Selfie with Sam Leach of Wilding Cider For repeat travelers like Debbie and Bryce from California, the tour reaffirmed how relationships with makers enrich the experience: “ They treat us like friends, not tourists.” Ancha from Hungary spoke of the joy of hiking the Malvern Hills in the rain and celebrating with fellow cider lovers. Rachel and Mary of Kanga Cider in Texas noted the value of orchard insights for their own plantings back home, while Thomas from Australia praised the tour for covering the full spectrum of producers—from industrial to artisanal. Learning and Inspiration Guests emphasized that tasting ciders in their native terroir cannot be replaced by books or certifications. Dan from Spacetime Mead and Cider Works in Dunmore Pennsylvania highlighted how only by being in Herefordshire or Somerset can one grasp the range of English cider styles. Susan and Tom of Heeman's Cellars in Ontario pointed out how the pacing of the tour allowed real reflection—something missing from busier farm tours. The Takeaway Whether first-timers or repeat guests, everyone agreed: the Totally Cider Tour offers access, education, and camaraderie that can't be replicated alone. As David of Oregon said it best, “It wasn't really about the cider—it was about the people.” Contact info for Totally Cider Tours Website page: https://ciderchat.com/totally-cider-tours/ For details on upcoming cider journeys and to join the waitlist, send an email to info@ciderchat.com and write in the heading Totally Cider Tours. In this episode I go on a Style DNA journey with the very impressive Jade Holland Cooper Founder and CEO of her eponymous brand, Holland Cooper. Jade had a rural upbringing which was all about her ponies and horses...she didn't really think about clothes other than their functionality. It wasn't until she went to study at the Royal Agricultural College that she realised that everyone was dressed the same...that there were very few options for chic country clothing. This was her lightbulb moment. She drew up a business plan, left college, created a few tweed miniskirts that she sold from a "2 metre stand at Badminton Horse Trials" and she realised then that she was on to something. She has built an astonishingly successful brand in just 15 years, turning over 40 million pounds, and is in the process of building a 7,000 sq foot head office in Gloucestershire. I can honestly say, her achievements are extraordinary. I ask Jade who her biggest inspiration is and she says Ralph Lauren, ironically the king of classic British style . The Lauren influence is clear but in a more obviously branded way. She admits that she wants to get the name on as many items as possible as it is effectively "free advertising". We laugh about how in the early days she bought an embroidery machine so that she could get her name embroidered onto as many pieces as possible, how she would have the machine running 24 hours a day with the assistance of a baby monitor. She tells me that her mother is her style icon, and was a designer herself, and that although they have different styles she is very inspiring. I ask her whether she thinks about her mother when designing? She says she is aware of her age group but makes the point that classic product appeals to multiple ages ...so true and so appealing to so many. I ask her about the pressure of being the face of her eponymous brand (something I remember well), and to a degree an influencer of sorts. She admits it could be a full time job...but as the business gets bigger her "minutes get more important" but that she never want to lose the experience and interaction with her customers. She personally replies to her Instagram messages to get feedback, she is on the shop floor every 2 weeks and admits to obsessing about her business, living and breathing her customers. Talking customers, she says that having Catherine as a good customer has been a great endorsement for the brand. Despite her incredible success she admits that there are "many days I feel like I can't do this. It's an inner battle to get things over the line. Can I do this? It's really hard and really lonely" (gosh it is). I ask her what she reaches for on those vulnerable days and it's always a suit...the power of good tailoring is always a winner. She is clearly the style queen of Cheltenham Races...her home turf.  She is her own best ambassador, there more than anywhere else I would say,  and we laugh about how she always decides what she is going to wear at the last minute, much to the frustration of her fabulous team. I hope you enjoy this episode. Jade is a truly awe inspiring and incredibly focused human being... I wish her continued success and look forward to visiting her in her dreamy new head office later this year. People living and working around Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland say pollution in the lake has become worse over the hot summer this year. The Lough supplies about forty per cent of Northern Ireland's drinking water and for the past couple of years it's been covered with a toxic blue green algae, which has grown due to pollution from agriculture, broken water treatment facilities and industrial waste. The algae's also had a big impact on the fishing industry. All this week we're looking at animal feed. There's a drive to source and grow more of it in the UK, especially as new regulations come in to tackle deforestation linked with growing soy for animal feed. We visit a traditional feed mill in Gloucestershire which makes a feed mix from local wheat, oats, peas and beans. The island of Unst in Shetland is the most northerly inhabited island in Britain. It's also considered to be the true home of the Shetland pony and is the venue of the most northerly agricultural show in the UK. The Unst Show has been going for more than 150 years and draws crowds from across Shetland and beyond to see cows, sheep, poultry and ponies being exhibited. fWotD Episode 3028: Proceratosaurus Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Tuesday, 19 August 2025, is Proceratosaurus.Proceratosaurus ( proh-sə-RAT-oh-SAW-rəs) is a genus of theropod dinosaur that lived during the Middle Jurassic in what is now England. The holotype and only known specimen consists of a mostly complete skull with an accompanying lower jaw and a hyoid bone, found near Minchinhampton, a town in Gloucestershire. It was originally described in 1910 as a species of Megalosaurus, M. bradleyi, but was moved to its own genus, Proceratosaurus, in 1926. The genus was named for its supposed close relationship with Ceratosaurus, later shown to be erroneous, due to perceived resemblance of Proceratosaurus's incomplete cranial crest to Ceratosaurus's nasal horn.A small to medium-sized dinosaur, the skull of Proceratosaurus is 26.9 cm (10.6 in) long as preserved, and the dinosaur is estimated to have measured around 3 metres (10 ft) in length. The skull is characterised by a number of distinguishing features, including a cranial crest that begins at the junction between the premaxilla and the nasal bone. The teeth are heterodont, having D-shaped teeth at the front of the upper jaw and flattened serrated teeth in the sides of the jaw. Proceratosaurus is considered a coelurosaur, specifically a member of the family Proceratosauridae, and is among the earliest known members of both Coelurosauria and Tyrannosauroidea (the broader group which includes the tyrannosaurids, including the famous Tyrannosaurus), with its complete crest probably being larger than that of Ceratosaurus and more similar to its close relative Guanlong.Proceratosaurus is thought to have been a carnivore, with its diet probably consisting of relatively small prey. The crest was probably used for display. The dinosaur is known from the Great Oolite Group of England, having been found in either the White Limestone Formation or the Forest Marble Formation. During the Bathonian age when Proceratosaurus lived, Britain along with the rest of Western Europe formed a subtropical island archipelago, with southern Britain having a seasonally dry climate. Other dinosaurs known from the Bathonian of Britain include the large theropod Megalosaurus bucklandii, the large sauropod Cetiosaurus, as well as indeterminate stegosaurs, ankylosaurs and heterodontosaurids. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:57 UTC on Tuesday, 19 August 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Proceratosaurus on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Ivy.

The stakes are high on all sides, and the world will see how far the Trump Administration will go in favouring Russia over America's long-standing allies, a position that no other President has taken in US history. The conversation focuses on the diplomatic efforts surrounding the conflict in Ukraine, particularly the meeting between President Zelenskyy and President Trump, alongside European leaders. The discussion highlights the complexities of foreign policy, the influence of leadership decisions, and the implications of the ongoing war on global relations and resources.TakeawaysDiplomatic efforts are crucial in halting the conflict in Ukraine.Zelenskyy's visit to the White House is significant for Ukraine's future.Trump's previous meeting with Putin raised concerns about his stance on Russia.European leaders' presence at the White House indicates a united front.Zelenskyy cannot constitutionally give up land without parliamentary approval. The Donbass region is strategically important and rich in minerals.Past agreements with Russia have failed, raising doubts about future guarantees.Trump's desire for a Nobel Peace Prize may influence his decisions. The ongoing war impacts U.S. domestic policies and resources. The outcome of the meeting could redefine U.S. foreign policy.Sound Bites"A big day at the White House.""Trump seems easily swayed by Putin.""What is Trump's endgame?"Please don't forget to like, subscribe and share the podcast. During a peaceful walk through the Gloucestershire countryside, I stumbled upon a village church with a powerful story — one that changed the course of English history. Little Sodbury is one of only a handful of Thankful Villages in England, where all soldiers returned from both World Wars. But this place is also where William Tyndale, the brilliant scholar and Bible translator, heard his call to make Scripture accessible to everyone. In this podcast, I'll take you to St Adeline's Church, rebuilt using the stones of the original chapel where Tyndale once preached. It was here, as chaplain to the Walsh family at Little Sodbury Manor, that he began developing his radical ideas — ideas that would influence Anne Boleyn, shake the foundations of the church, and ultimately lead to his execution. Learn how Tyndale's The Obedience of a Christian Man found its way into the hands of Henry VIII. Discover the Reformation roots hidden in this tiny village and hear how one man's mission to bring the Bible to the people led to betrayal, martyrdom… and a legacy that shaped the English-speaking world. But as days turned into weeks, and then months, suspicions grew.Kate Prout was a retired schoolteacher, known for her love of nature, her creativity, and her deep ties to the local community. She lived a quiet life on a sprawling farm in the Forest of Dean - a place she'd once called her dream home. What followed was an investigation that spanned years, challenged detectives, and divided a village. "I remembered that something like this happened once to the poet Edward Thomas. He was in the hills of Gloucestershire in 1914. June 24: the express train drew up there unwontedly, as the poet later wrote; the platform of the village station was empty, the heat was intense, and it was so quiet that the sound of a man clearing his throat on board the train was remarkable." I have been coming and going from this train carriage, which, even though it never moves, seems to serve as a base for travel. Like a station, I reckon. It's Thursday, June 12th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Escalating persecution of Christians in Africa International Christian Concern released a new report on the escalating persecution of Christians in Africa.  Targeted attacks are increasing in countries with large Christian populations like Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Kenya.  The report documented attacks that have killed hundreds of Christians in Africa this year. These attacks not only involve brutal killings, but also abductions and displacement. They are often perpetrated by Islamic militant groups.  Please pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ in Africa.  Conservatives arrested for protesting transgenderism Belgian police arrested two conservative activists last Thursday in Brussels, Belgium for protesting transgenderism. Lois Miller, a Senior Legal Communications Officer with Alliance Defending Freedom International, was holding a sign that read: “Children are never born in the wrong body.” And Canadian child protection advocate Chris Elston was holding a sign that read: “Children cannot consent to puberty blockers.”  The two activists called the police after facing aggressive harassment from bystanders. However, the police decided to arrest Miller and Elston! Listen to comments from Miller. MILLER: “They saw that a mob was formed. They saw that we were in the minority, that we were the ones that were being attacked. And instead of standing up for our rights to have those conversations about really important topics to Belgians everywhere, instead they took us away and they let the mob go free.” Proverbs 17:15 says, “He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.” Progress in U.S.-Chinese trade talks U.S. President Donald Trump announced a preliminary trade deal with China yesterday. Trump said China will provide rare earth minerals and magnets to America and that the U.S. would restart Chinese student visas.  U.S. tariffs on imports from China stand at 55 percent, while Chinese tariffs on imports from the U.S. stand at 10 percent. Total tariffs between the two countries reached 245 percent before trade talks began. Congress might repeal pro-abortion Freedom of Access to Clinics Entrances Act The U.S. House Judiciary Committee advanced a bill this week to repeal the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act also known as the FACE Act. The Biden administration used the act to target peaceful, pro-life activists. Between 1994 and 2024, 97 percent of FACE Act prosecutions were against pro-lifers.  Republican Rep. Chip Roy of Texas said, “With a Republican-led Congress and President Trump's support, we can repeal this law and protect free speech for all.” Clarification on religious groups story from yesterday We apologize for any confusion from our story yesterday about the growth of religious groups around the world. To clarify, the total number of Christians did increase from 2.1 billion to 2.3 billion between 2010 and 2020. However, as a percentage of the world's population, Christianity actually decreased from 30.6 percent to 28.8 percent over the same time period. You see, even though the number of Christians grew over that decade, it did not grow fast enough to keep up with global population growth, especially the fertility rate of Muslims, and thus Christians decreased as a percentage of the world's population. Religious instruction under public school umbrella Public school students in Iowa can now take courses in religious instruction. Iowan Republican Governor Kim Reynolds signed the bill into law last Friday. The measure allows parents to send their children to religious instruction provided by a private group during the school day. Greg Chafuen, senior counsel at Alliance Defending Freedom, said, “Parents have the right and responsibility to guide the upbringing and education of their children. The government should not stop families from raising their children in their family's faith.” Southern Baptists call for overturn of Obergefell homosexual marriage ruling The Southern Baptist Convention adopted multiple resolutions this week on the topics of marriage, sexuality, and human life. One resolution called for the overturning of the U.S. Supreme Court's Obergefell v. Hodges ruling which legalized faux homosexual marriage. Another resolution called for Congress and state legislatures to ban chemical abortion drugs. And a third resolution called for the banning of pornographic content.  Representatives to the Southern Baptist Convention urged, “all Southern Baptists to advocate in the public square for laws and policies that reflect the moral order revealed in Scripture and nature, and to bear witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which alone restores broken lives, redeems sin, and brings eternal hope.” Psalm 119:46 says, “I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.” Worldview listeners in England, Canada and Texas share their hearts I invited Worldview listeners to share what they enjoyed about the newscast in 2-6 sentences. You can share your thoughts -- along with your  full name, city and state -- and send it to adam@theworldview.com Dan from Gloucestershire, England wrote, “Hi Adam. I love The Worldview for the information you share and how you relate a couple of your stories to the Bible with specific verses. Keep up the good work.” Priscilla Lipp in Calgary, Alberta, Canada wrote, “I enjoy getting a snippet of world news from a Christian perspective. Refreshing, with reports I won't hear on Canadian mainstream media. My husband, several grown children, and a neighboring couple have also signed up.” And Patricia Herbst – on behalf of Luis, Tricia, Natalie, Nichole, and Luciano -- in Kyle, Texas wrote, “I want to thank you for the incredible blessing your ministry has been to our family. “Through your curriculum, app, and daily broadcasts, we've been consistently enriched with wisdom, truth, and discipleship. My husband, children, and I are growing in faith because of your efforts. You are truly a gift from God, and we're so grateful for your faithfulness.” 7 Worldview listeners gave $815 to fund our annual budget And finally, toward our midpoint goal of $61,750 to fund half of The Worldview newscast's annual budget by this Friday, June 13th, 7 listeners stepped up to the plate. Our thanks to Tim in Woodland, California who gave $25 and Julie in Victoria, Texas who gave $40. We appreciate Kitty in Tulare, California, Linda in Tampa, Florida, and Daniel in Evansville, Indiana – each of whom gave $50. And we're grateful to God for Ryan in Brighton, Colorado who gave $100, Steven in Rest, South Carolina who gave $200, and Alex in Greenwood, Indiana who pledged $25/month for 12 months for a gift of $300. Those 7 Worldview listeners gave a total of $815.  Ready for our new grand total? Drum roll please. (Drum roll sound effect) $24,565.20 (People clapping sound effect) That means we still need to raise $37,134.80 by midnight on Friday, June 13th to hit the half-way mark, to stay on the air, and fund our 6-member Worldview newscast team for another fiscal year. Remember If you are one of 8 final people who give a one-time gift of $1,000, Scooter in Naples, Florida will match you with a corresponding $1,000 gift. If that happens on Thursday, we will have raised $16,000. In order to raise the remaining amount, I need to find 17 Worldview listeners who will pledge $50/month for 12 months for a gift of $600. And another 32 listeners to pledge $25/month for 12 months for a gift of $300. On the afternoon of August 7, 1972, sixteen-year-old Jeannette DePalma left her house in Springfield, NJ and was never seen alive again. Six weeks later, Jeannette's remains were discovered when a neighborhood dog returned to its owner at a newly built apartment complex, carrying Jeannette's badly decomposed arm in its mouth. The news of Jeannette's death spread quickly around the small town and the rumors about the circumstances were not far behind. According to witnesses, the girl's body was surrounded by occult symbols and objects, and within a few weeks news outlets began reporting that Jeannette had been the victim of ritual human sacrifice. For more than five decades, the murder of Jeannette DePalma had fascinated New Jersey residents and has even captured the attention of news outlets from around the country and occasionally around the world. Yet the more coverage the case receives, the more the rumors of occult murder and Satanism seem to grow, obscuring the more relevant facts and the tragedy at the heart of the case.Thank you to the Incredible Dave White of Bring Me the Axe Podcast for research and Writing support!ReferencesAssociated Press. 1972.
