Fred Schiff of All County Music chats about how music is bringing layers of healing to the Parkland, Florida community after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018. Sitting down with Mary Luehrsen at NASMD, Fred talks about how music has helped the community of Parkland move forward and rise up. His company gave away 50 trombones in 50 different schools to recognize Alex Schachter, a freshman band student who was killed during the shooting.

At age 14, Max’s son Alex Schachter was tragically killed during the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018. Alex was one of the first students to be killed. In an effort to protect all our children and teachers, the Safe Schools For Alex campaign will be used to support the efforts of a nationwide school safety commission spearheaded by Max. He convened the first commission meeting on Monday, March 5, 2018 in Parkland, Fl. Over 25 school safety experts from across the United States helped identify state of the art school safety guidelines and best practices including training methods that will enable the commission to develop a blueprint to make schools safe nationwide. Max shares his mindset on school safety and determination to create change. 

In a milestone episode that happens to follow a horrible tragedy, Andrew talks about and shares the story of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and of the heroes of that day the teachers and staff who did what they could and put their lives on the line to save their students.
